The Out of this World Book Blogger Award

Hi everyone! Here I am again back with another awards post. And it’s one that has left me a bit speechless, and managed to give me a face so red that I have been working for days to return it to it’s normal shade of colour. If you are wondering what I am talking about, just take a look at this post and look at what was written there about me. See what I mean? Really I have been wondering if there is some secret “Let’s keep making Raistlin blush organisation” at work on WordPress. But this post just took it to a whole new level. So just in case you have not looked at the original post (really why on Earth not?), I was nominated by the absolutely amazing Nicole who has an equally amazing blog called The BookWorm Drinketh. I know right? Isn’t that just the best blog name ever? But…before I say thank you to her for nominating me, I already warned her there would be some payback after what she wrote. (Insert evil grin 😈). So yes, now it’s my turn, don’t say I didn’t warn you !

Time for some (well meant) payback! 😊

You see Nicole is one of those people that just loves to hand out compliments and lent support to other people. But when it comes to herself she either ignores it completely, or brushes it off. But…that’s where I come in (and hopefully a lot of others too after reading this). Nicole is an amazing woman, and I just love her. She writes terrific posts, and manages to always  brighten my day with her humor. Not only in her posts, but also in her comments that are just completely crazy at times (But it is has to be said, I’m pretty nuts myself so there is that). Now somewhere next week, Nicole has her birthday. She hasn’t told me which day yet, which might have something to do with this. But as I am one who doesn’t give up quite easily, I’m going to use this award as an excuse to also be used as a kind of “ wish Nicole a happy birthday and tell her how awesome she is post”. I know a lot of people appreciate her as well, so please use the comments section to wish her a happy birthday, and tell her why you like her so much. As for me, I will start off by saying: thanks so much for this award, and the amazingly kind words. I really appreciate it! Happy Birthday and remember: You are awesome! 🎉🎉🎉 Thanks for being just such a wonderful friend! So…back to the award now!

Rules again???!!! So boooorrring!!

  • Thank the blogger(s) that nominated you and link back to their post.
  • Answer the questions.
  • Don’t forget to grab your badge!
  • Nominate 3-5 bloggers for the award.
  • You may use the header image from this post if desired.

The Questions:

1. What (or who) inspires you, and why?

Well, there are a lot of things that inspire me to be honest, but it would go a bit too far to list them all. I can find inspiration from a powerful movie, especially ones that are based on real life events. One that springs to mind for instance is the movie United 93, that tells the tale of the horrible events that happened on 9/11 aboard the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania. It shows how normal people can rise above themselves when faced with impossible and truly terrifying events. One only hopes that whenever something like that happens (and God forbid it ever will again), and you are in the middle of it, you can also find that kind of courage within you. On that note, I always find it inspiring when I see people that are able to help others without ever once thinking about themselves. It never fails to amaze me when I see something like that happening, and it goes to show that luckily there are still some amazing people left on this planet.

Sometimes we can all use a helping hand….

2. What is your favorite thing about blogging?

I think you have seen me answer this question many, many times before, but just in case you haven’t: It’s the interaction with everyone in this amazing community. I have met so many people here that have really become incredible friends, that it’s simply said something I will never ever forget. I love interacting with people, exchanging comments, sharing thoughts on things we have in common, in short just having fun. Which is why I can not believe in a life without blogging anymore.

3. If you could be any character in fiction, whom would you be and why?

Another easy question (yay!). It’s Raistlin Majere from the Dragonlance saga written by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. When I first read about this amazing character there were so many things I could relate to. He had a frail health, and people just always seemed to mistake him for weak. But he never gave up in his quest for power and rising above himself (talk about inspiring). Okay…then he ended up wanting to become a God and taking over the world and wanting to kill everybody. So…yeah…not everything he did I could relate to lol. Still…he will always and forever be my most favorite character in fiction.

Yep, Raistlin again!

4. If you had six months with no obligations or financial constraints, what would you do with the time?

This really is a fun question! The one thing I think I would do is buy a private jet (As I am totally afraid of flying I figured it would be a good way to lessen that fear, seeing as it’s only me and the pilot aboard. So hopefully fewer things that could go wrong). And then: I would make a world tour, visiting everyone I have met on WordPress and who I have become friends with. Because seriously, that would just be the best thing ever!!

5. What is one piece of advice that you would give a new blogger?

Well quite honestly I have a lot of advice, but seeing as I can only name one, I would say it’s this: Don’t be afraid to reach out to other bloggers. I know it can be terrifying to write a comment to someone you have never met before, and giving an opinion on someone’s post. Because really: what if the other person hates what I say? Or who am I to just bother them, right? Wrong! If there is one thing that I have learned it’s the fact that you can learn so much from other people here. And by commenting and talking to others, you will only get better in your writing. And even more importantly: make some great friends along the way!

Yes….totally shocking: I’m a shy guy 😳

6. Optional: Freebie question – share something with us!

Ugh…now this is a tough question! It seems like I have already shared quite a lot about me through other posts, but I guess there are always things people might have missed. So I’m going to put myself on the spot again by saying something that most people might not realise since I manage to hide it incredibly well (It’s truly an art that I have mastered through years of secret training). But: I’m an incredibly shy person. I have always struggled with a lack of selfworth, and as such I have always had trouble meeting other people or at the most connecting with them. And this is especially true in real life. But over the years I guess things did improve on that front, but it will never go away completely. Oh well, probably the reason I will stay single for all eternity.

And now…for the nominations!

Who? Me?? Being nominated? Get out of here!!!

I have no idea who has already been nominated for this one, but this is the first time that I have seen this award, so I’m thinking (hoping) that I lucked out in picking my nominees. As always there is no obligation to do this, but I just nominated you because well, you know, you are just all amazing book bloggers in my book (yep…where do I come up with these puns…ahem…)

Well, that’s it…well almost that is. I originally planned this post for a release later this week. But as I felt Nicole needed an extra positivity boost today (and Nicole knows why that is 😉) I decided to finish the post today. So….Nicole: Keep having that faith in yourself, and I know you will do just fine. And above all: never, ever forget how awesome you are! 😊😊

Good Luck Nicole: even though you won’t need it 😉

Everyone thanks for reading, don’t forget the (future) birthday wishes and telling Nicole how awesome she is in the comments. And…… see you at the next post!!

Welcome to the Brotherhood!

It’s been a while since I last did an awards post. As both Irina , Cactus Matt and Mel recently wrote a post for this new award that’s been going around the block, I was reminded that I too was tagged for this one. But even more shamefully I was nominated three times for this. Yes I know, I am horrible at keeping up with tags and awards post, so first off my apologies for that. But now I am finally going to make it up to everyone that nominated me, by writing a massive post for this one. So yeah this is going to be a long one so sit back, and take a soda (or whatever drink you might prefer). My first nomination came from Chizure who is currently on hiatus. That should not stop you from checking out her blog anyway though, as her posts are awesome, but so is she. I really miss her, and hope she will be making a return to blogging in the future. Ryuji is the one who gave me the second one, and sadly currenlty also on hiatus. Another blog that you should really check out ASAP, as it’s hosted by another amazing person who I also miss a lot. But, the posts in the blog speak for themselves as they are all wonderful.

These blogs and bloggers are so AWESOME!!

And they say three times is a charm, as I got nominatied for a third one by Merlin. I really hope that this blogger doesn’t need any introduction anymore (and really if he does, where have you been). Running a blog on a multitude of subjects (including some of my favorite tv series) it’s sooo worth it too follow this blog. So please do so! All three of you: thank you so much for this nomination, and sorry it has taken me so long to finally get around to it. I still hope you will enjoy the read though. But let’s first get the official part of this out of the way as of course there are (*groan*) rules.

The Rules

Why are there ALWAYS rules!!!!
  • Thank the Person who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the questions sent to you.
  • Nominate around 10 bloggers.
  • Create your own set of questions for your nominees and display the rules.
  • List the rules and display the Brotherhood of the World logo in your post.

So with that part finally out of the way, let’s get to the good stuff!

Chizure’s and Ryuji’s Questions

1. Briefly describe your blogging style (Where is your favorite blogging spot/what is your favorite blogging tool).

Well, right off the bat we start with a tough question. My blogging style huh? Well, one thing I do like to do (at least when I can that is) is try to put something personal in a post. When I write a review I try to come up with something that either happened to myself, or what in some way relates to whatever I am reviewing. In that way I try (and hopefully succeed *gasp*) in making an entertaining post. As for my favorite blogging spot, I always write on my ipad (with keyboard) on my bed. And now it has not yet happened that I have fallen asleep while writing.

2. How do you manage your blogging and blog reading time?

The easiest answer would be I don’t lol. But seriously though it is at times pretty hard to manage. I try to read posts at work during breaks, but on busy days I usually fail at that. When I come home from work, I usually take 3-4 hours to read posts and stalk people place comments. And yes I know that I place a lot of comments, sorry about that! As for writing my own posts, it depends. I usually get most of my writing done in the weekend, but sometimes I already spent some time on preparing drafts on weekdays.

I really wish I had a time machine…..

3. Who is your most read author?

It kind of depends what mood I am in. But I do spent a lot of time in the Warhammer 40000 science fiction universe and I would say my favorite author for that is Graham McNeill. His novels are just real pageturners with loads of great action and all kinds of wonderful characters.

4. How did you come up with your blogging name?

Well finally, an easy question! Some of you already know the answer to this one, but of course I will still say it anyway. Raistlin is the most amazing book character I have ever read about. He was a mage in a series of fantasy novels called Dragonlance, written by the remarkable writing duo Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickmann. There was so much in him that I could relate too (not the world domination and becoming a god part though lol) and I just really understood what made him tick. Despite meeting many other wonderful characters in books, there has never been any that ever came close to being as cool as he was. And 0903 is my birthday (as I am Dutch we first write the day, and then the month). Hey, I told you it was easy!

The guy on the right is Raistlin. Yup…he is pretty scary….

5. What keeps you blogging?

Well, that is another very easy question to answer. The most important thing for me and that makes it so much fun, is the interacting with everyone. There are so many wonderful people in this community, and a lot of them have turned into amazing friends. That to me gives me my drive to keep blogging. I do love writing posts, but I also know that I am nowhere near as good as some of the people who I have great admiration for. But, that’s really okay. I always try to come up with some reviews for things that might not have been seen by everyone (although of course I do write posts about those as well), and that for me keeps it interesting too. But…the community itself, that is what keeps me going!

Merlin’s Questions

1) How did you come up with your blogging name?

Asked and answered 🙂

2) What do you love most about blogging?

Well I kind of answered that one a little bit as well, but just in case I wasn’t clear: the great discussions I have had with everyone on various topics, and the wonderful friendships that have only been growing since I started my blog. I really could not ever think about leaving this fully behind.

Yeah…I guess Yoda is right…

3) What do you hate most about blogging?

Never having enough time. But I guess that’s a problem that is not only restricted to blogging. I do find it frustrating at times though. I only have about 5-6 hours on weekdays of free time after a workday. Sometimes even less, when I have something else planned for an evening. This is also one of the reasons why I have pretty much reached a limit to the amount of blogs I can follow. As much as I would love to, I just can’t follow everyone. It would also not be fair to someone’s post if I were to read it only partially and leave a like. But sometimes it’s hard, as I really come across some great (old and new) blogs. Occasionally though I do make an exception.

4) Do you have some favorite blogs to recommend?

Well, quite a few actually. On my blog I have a monthly feature called Bloggers in the Spotlight where I try to point out blogs that are really awesome and might not yet have been discovered by everyone. This month will see the release of the 4th volume of this. I  already have a few bloggers in mind, but I don’t want to say who these are (yet). Feel free though to look at the bloggers in the previous installments, for some recommendations. All I can say is that there are some amazingly talented people out here in this community. Well duh, of course you are one of them!

5) Do you have one or three personal favorite posts you’ve written?

Well it’s always difficult to choose things from your own posts, but looking back there certainly are some posts that I quite enjoyed putting together. As I like being nostalgic from time to time, hence my love for the 80’s, I really had a lot of fun writing my Childhood Movies post. It’s written almost two years ago, but I still remember it quite well. A post that I am pretty proud of in the way it turned out was my review for Ergo Proxy. I was really fearful to post it, as it was an animeseries that was loved by quite a lot of people, but I did never really get into it. In the end though it became one of my most popular posts. Lastly there is the The Last Jedi rantpost. It’s not a post that I really like (though I still stand by everything I wrote for it, I still hate that movie), but I really learned a lot from it. It’s never good to write a review in total anger. But then again, it really created some very lively and interesting discussions as well, which was something that was a fun experience.

And the nominees are…..

This award has been around for a while now, so I have kind of lost track of everyone that got nominated for this already. Feel free to ignore the nomination if you have already done one, or if you don’t want to do it, that’s of course perfectly fine as well. So here we go. I nominate:

The Bookworm Drinketh

The Otaku Judge

Rocco B

And now for my questions…

1) How did you come up with your blogging name? (Yes, that question is stolen, deal with it :))

2) How did you get interested in blogging?

3) Is there something you desperately want to write about on your blog, but haven’t done yet?

4) What’s the best thing that happened to you in the blogging sphere?

5) Name one movie, book or anime that you have seen this year that really impressed you

Well…that’s it. Thank you for suffering reading this post, and see you at the next one!

Build a Harem tag!

There are certain times in my life when I feel like a total noob (erm what am I saying, there are a lot of times when I feel like this). In the world of anime people are probably surprised to learn how many different genres there are within that fantastic medium. And this inspires a lot of anime bloggers out there to create some awesome tags. Take the wonderful Cactus Matt from Anime Q and A for instance. He created the “Build a Harem” tag. Now what the heck is that I can hear you ask. Erm…yes…erm…that was my question as well. And it got worse when I also got nominated for it by LinaMerlin and Arthifis. Really? I smell a conspiracy here. And just after I published this, I found out that I had been nominated 40 minutes earlier by The Otaku Judge  as well so yeah conspiracy 🙂 But I truly thank you guys and girl, for nominating me (erm…I think). I have to my knowledge never seen an Harem anime, so I really had to do some research to find out what this all meant.

Just let the man explain already!!!

It turns out to be rather straightforward actually. A central character is surrounded by three or more male or female characters that are usually romantically attracted to that  character (really why doesn’t something like that happen in real life? Ahem…moving on). With that out of the way, now I had to do some research on the type of characters that are featured in these (wow, this almost feels like homework now lol). But I guess, I figured it out…well…at least I think I have (Naw…You are just seeing things, I’m totally not sweating here). So….as always: here are the:

Why are there always rules?? So boring!!
  1. Link back to the original post on Anime Q and A so they can check out everyone’s picks!
  2. Use the ‘Build A Harem’ logo somewhere in the post.
  3. Make sure to mention the person who nominated you too!
  4. Pick 5 Anime Characters (any show & any gender) that would be in your ideal harem if you were the main character of a harem anime, explain a little bit as to why they are your picks (if you want).
  5. Make sure each character you pick falls into some of the following harem character types: Childhood friend, tom boy/girl, genki girl/boy, loli/shota, trap, tsundere, yandere, kuudere, dandere, etc. (If there’s a character you’ve picked that doesn’t specifically fall into one of these types or falls into multiple types that’s fine too!)
  6. Nominate 5 people to participate in this tag!

1. The childhood friend-Naho Takamiya from Orange

Me??? Really???

So many people hated this character. Mainly because of the fact that she seemed to really make stupid choices or what seemed very odd reactions to the guy she was in love with. I didn’t hate her at all though. In fact I could totally relate to her, because she was the female version of me. When I am in love I tend to do stupid things, and totally freeze up when I get to talk to the girl I love (or in other words I am always afraid to let my true feelings out). So yeah…childhood friend for sure, as I think we would get along very well.

2. The Tomboy Girl-Motoki Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell

How dare you call me a tomboy!!

Hmm, this was a tough one. And the Major (still my alltime favorite anime character, and she probably will be right up until I die) might even seem an odd choice for this category. When you look up the definition of a tomboy on Google (and Lina did this research as well, she is always very determined), there are so many definitions for that exact word. Still I think Motoko Kusanagi could definitely fill this slot. The way she acts, and the things she does more than qualify as masculine, even though she is still a hot as hell woman. So…yeah…I’m sticking with the Major for this one.

3. The Tsundure-Asuna Yuuki from Sword Art Online

Is it hot in here? Or is that just me?

This one I really had to look up, as I had never heard of this word. Tsundure is apparently a character who is initially very cold, or hostile towards someone, until eventually warming up. For this I had only one choice: Asuna. When she first met Kirito, I think she redefined the word cold. And we all know of course how that eventually ended. I would truly dread meeting her when she was first like this, and would probably either run away, or try to grovel before her. (Probably the last, because really…just look at her). So for that last reason alone…she just had to be in my harem.

4. The Kuudure-Touka Kirishima from Tokyo Ghoul

Yes…I’m giving you ” the stare”…….

So…ofcourse I totally knew what this one meant. You believe me right? Erm….not that convincing am I? Okay I guess you all knew it but apparently this is a character that seems very cold and indifferent, but actually is very caring. Having watched the first two seasons of Tokyo Ghoul (wait…what? You did that? Why on Earth did you not review it Raistlin??!!!), I can only think of Touka for this one. I instantly fell in love with her when she first shows up. I loved her cool demeanor, total badassery, but also the depth she had. She just had to be added….obviously.

5. The Yandere-Lum from Urusei Yatsura

Aww….she is so cute….just wait till you get to know her though.

Aww….last one already?? Yup…and I decided to go with the Yandere type. I got you covered: it’s a character that is totally romantically obsessed by someone to the point of using violent means to get them in their arms. And that is Lum all over. This tigerstriped bikini clad beauty is probably not known by many of you as she is featured in an anime series that ran in the 80’s. She looks gorgeous doesn’t she? Don’t let this alien princess fool you though…she will use any means necessary to get her darling (that is what she calls the poor boy that is the object of her affection), even using electrocution. Oh well…I would not mind being chased by her…not at all….

I choose…!!!

Honestly this tag has gotten so big, that I have kind of lost track who has already been tagged, so if you already got nominated for this one, feel free to ignore it. And if you haven’t and don’t want to do this one, I totally understand as well. My nominees are….

1. Shokamoka (Well I know that you have already been nominated, but I just want to let you know in this way that I miss seeing you here)

2. Flowangelic (Yup, this just had to be done)

3.Lynlynsays (Seeing as you recently featured a post on a reverse harem and I simply love your blog)

4. Cain.S.Latrani (Well…do I really need to explain? I just think you are awesome, and I know for a fact that you would probably make a seriously funny post for this one)

5. Pete Davison (Because I think this tag has you written all over it, and your blog is incredible and more people need to discover it)

Have fun with it! And as I said no pressure at all to this. Now I leave you all with the Major….because, really…why not?

Sigh….he really is obsessed with me……

Double feature: The Versatile Blogger Award & The Sunshine Blogger Award

To be nominated for an award is just very humbling. It always really puts a smile on my face every single time. As much as I appreciate them, I honestly have to admit that I don’t always have the time to answer all of them. I am trying to at least play a bit of catch up, and am planning to write a few long over due posts for these later this year. But today I just had to go and thank a blogger who I not only think is very special, but nominated me not once but twice in a row for two awards. I’m talking about the wonderful Anjali. Maybe you have already encountered her blog, but if you haven’t, I urge you very kindly to check it out. She writes amazingly diverse reviews that cover a wide range of topics, but also has other posts that really inspire people. But let me not forget to mention how incredibly kind Anjali is. She is a very gentle soul that always gives amazing comments, and has truly made me blush a couple of times with the support she has shown for me and my blog. So really, thank you Anjali for all your kindness and these awards. This post is for you!

Seven things about myself

Now, more than a year ago, about two months after I started my blog I also got nominated for this award. But seeing as that was such a long time ago, and I have gained a lot of new followers since that time most of you probably won’t know about the 7 things that I am going to be sharing here about myself. But just in case you were here since the beginning, and might find a few of these things sound familiar, my apologies for that. So….here we go:

  1. Wasps. I have an irritional fear of wasps. Even though I have never been stung by one of those dispacable creatures (and I really plan on keeping it that way), I am terrified by them. When one comes near me, I overturn tables, and turn into a complete nutcase in trying to get away from it.
  2. Impulse buyer. I am really not a very good friend to my wallet. When I am at a con, or in one of my favorite stores, I usually buy way too much stuff. And at times it’s stuff that I really don’t need, but just because it looks cool I buy it anyway. It also pretty much explains why I have way too many hobbies.

Yup…get ready when you read what I have to say about this film. Feel free to call me crazy.
  3. Titanic. I absolutely loved the movie Titanic. It’s still my number one movie to date. So much so in fact that I have seen it nine times in the theatres back in the day. And guess what? The ship still sank every time at the end of the movie.
  4. Shy. Even though you might not notice it when I am writing to you on this blog, or even when you would meet me in real life, but I am a really shy guy. Over the years I have managed to mask it well. But it’s something that I still struggle with.

Yup..this can be me at times.
  5. Insecure. Another thing that you might not notice is that I often lack self confidence and can be very insecure. Just like my shyness I manage to hide it well. But there are times when I severely doubt myself, or at times even get worried I might have said something wrong, when I usually already know that isn’t the case. It can be quite annoying let me assure you of that.
  6. Flying. I am afraid of flying. I have never entered, nor do I ever plan on entering a plane. I know everybody keeps telling me it’s the safest way to travel. You have more risk getting into a car. Blah, blah, blah….you are still not getting me into that plane.

    Home, sweet home.
  7. Home. I don’t go out much. I am much happier staying at home and enjoying my many hobbies than going outside doing stuff. A nice quiet relaxing day reading a book or watching a movie/anime/tv show, is just me having a good time.

My nominations

Just as always, in no way are you obligated to do a post for this. I just wanted to nominate you for having a cool blog and being awesome.

Nesha: e’

The Sunshine Blogger Award

The rules

As part of this award, I am supposed to:

  • Thank the person who nominated me for this.
  • Answer the questions that has been mentioned in the post
  • Post my set of questions for my nominees to answer
  • Nominate users for ‘The Sunshine Blogger Award

Now this is the question that I got asked by Anjali:

We all dream of what we want to do. What we want to be. There are some crazy dreams (like meeting up with aliens or saving the world like Superman) which we know will never happen but still dream about a lot. Then there are those realistic dreams, like being a writer or a doctor or anything which is “sensible”. I want to know what your “crazy” dream and your “sensible ” dreams are.”

Crazy dream: Well, a few you already know that I can be a little bit crazy at times (no I am not going to be mentioning names here, you already know who you are), so a crazy dream should be easy to come up with right? Erm…..🙄 I guess the craziest dream I can come up with is me being able to build a giant transformable robot with alien technology, that I could pilot like in the anime series Macross that I love so very much. It would be awesome to just show up at work in a thing like that and put it in a parking space (of course crushing a couple of cars along the way).

Yep that would be me finding a parking spot. Hey, I did not say I would be a good pilot.

Sensible dream: Well, my sensible dream is certainly less exciting. It might even sound a little cheesy to some of you, but nonetheless I will share it anyway. My sensible dream is to one day hopefully find a soulmate. Having been alone for most of my life, is quite frankly beginning to get annoying. Sure, I can handle being alone quite good, especially considering the many hobbies that I have. But, I would not mind having someone around to share those hobbies with. So yes, sorry it wasn’t anything more exciting like maybe bring about worldpeace, but I guess I am a hopeless romantic at heart. Wow, putting myself on the spot here now…suddenly that insecurity is beginning to surface again…moving on I guess 🙈🙈

Soulmates ❤️

My nominations

Just like the award above no one has to feel obligated to do this post. But I nominated you because I think you definitely bring some sunshine to me every day. As for my question, I quite liked the question that was asked by Anjali, so I will ask it too: What is your crazy dream, and what is your sensible dream?

Trang & Lashaan

The Otaku Judge

Now for a change I decided not to nominate Shokamoka , because really, he has to get a break somewhere along the road right? Doesn’t mean I don’t think he deserves this award though 😊

Blogger Appreciation Award!

I am at times truly humbled by the amount of appreciation and kind words that I have recieved over the past months, ever since I started blogging. I have always said that the best thing about blogging is being a part of an amazing community where I have met all kinds of wonderful people, and some that have really become very good friends. Take Didi Oviatt for instance. I discovered her blog last year and I am very glad that I did. Not only is she is a truly sweet and very kind person who writes wonderful reviews about books, but she also publishes great and often very inspirational posts. It doesn’t stop there though. She is also an author of some very succesful novels. Even though I have yet to read a full novel by her (I know Didi, I’m ashamed I haven’t yet, but I promise to do that this year), I did read a few excerpts from her novels. And suffice it to say, what I read there has left me thirsting for more. Two weeks ago I got nominated by her for an award that I had never heard of before: The Blogger Appreciation Award. Thank you so much for this great honor Didi, and please all of you who haven’t done so already, go and follow her blog. You won’t regret that.

The Rules of the Award:

The rules are simple.

Something Positive About Myself

Now…this is really the hardest part of this award, writing something positive about myself. I always dish out a lot of compliments to other people, but when it comes to receiving compliments or being positive about me, I really become very shy or don’t really know what to say. But I guess I don’t really have a choice here for this award, as it’s part of the rules! So erm…here goes. I think that I always try to be helpful and supportive to other people as much as I can. Even at the cost of myself at times. But that’s pretty much a part of me that I really never want to lose. I just really become happy when I can offer my help to people, and in turn manage to put a smile on their faces when that support really helps them out. So I guess that is the most positive thing I can think about right now. Phew! That was really hard. Now onwards to a more fun part: my nominations!

My Nominees:

Well as unique as this award is, it is also unique in the fact that there is no limit on the number of people that I can nominate apparently. But that said, I think I will stick to 25 people that I have come to appreciate a lot over the past few months and that I have interacted with the most since I started blogging. Some are veterans, some have just started out with blogging. But all of them deserve it for being incredibly amazing, each and every one in their own ways. So without further ado the nominees are in no particular order (drumroll please:)

By Hook Or By Book

As always, there is absolutely no obligation to write a post for this. I know how precious your time is, and lord knows I am running behind on these awards and tags  a lot myself (I promise to catch up this year though). But it really is my way of showing appreciation to you. As always thanks for reading, and see you on the next post!

The Growing Self Blogger Award

Helly everyone. One of the highest honours I think one can receive is to be recognised by a fellow blogger with an award. To my shame though, I have lately really been running behind on making posts for awards and tags. It is seriously embarassing. In the upcoming weeks I’m going to try and make up for this by writing at least two awards post each week in order to catch up. Hopefully real life won’t be interfering with these plans again, but I will do my best. I’ve said it countless times, but one of the best things about blogging is the interacting with everyone. Some of you out there have really became amazing blogging friends, but there are always some people that are even more special.

A couple of weeks ago I came across a blog called Touch my spine book reviews. Featuring incredible reviews for, you guessed it alright novels, there is more to this blog than meets the eye. And I am not talking about Transformers here. No, not only are the reviews amazing to read, but there are also great posts with gifs that manage to put a smile on my face, whenever I’m feeling down. But it is the person behind this blog, that makes it so special: the great and wonderful Dani. To say she is a very kind soul that despite everything she is going through herself cares so much for others would be a complete understatement. She is one of the most amazing bloggers that I have met, and she really has become a great friend. So if you are not yet following her, quit reading this and do so ASAP. To my astonishment I got nominated by her for an award that I had not yet heard of, The Growing Self Blogger Award. When I read what this award was about, I was stunned. It really is a great honor. Thank you so much Dani for this fantastic award, and really never change: as you are so fond of saying: You Rock!

“The Growing Self Blogger Award has been created to acknowledge and celebrate amazing individuals, in the blogging community, who are persevering through life’s challenges not only to GROW as individuals, but to reach out and help others GROW as well.” ~Roda

Cain S. Latrani I have been following Cain for a very long time now. And to say that I am impressed by this man is just giving him way to little credit. Out of respect for his privacy I am not going to say what he is currently going through, but you can read that on his blog. I am also not going to say how I can understand what he is feeling right now, because truly I can’t. But for him to find the strength to keep posting high quality content nearly each day, and at times make even apologies to his readers when he misses a post has truly baffled me. If there is anyone who deserves this award it is him, as he manages to truly and utterly inspire me with each and every post.

Karandi James The great Karandi from 100wordanime, is probably the first blog I followed when I started my blogging career, now more than a year ago. In fact I think we both started our blogs at pretty much the same time. This lady is a miracle worker. She publishes posts every day, sometimes two or three at a time, while still maintaining an amazing quality. But she also manages to comment on nearly every blog that is out here, while at the same time showcasing posts from other blogs as well. How she sometimes manages to do this, together with a dayjob is simply beyond me. (I suspect either clones or black sorcery lol). She is a driving force in the anime community and a truly amazing individual that you just have to follow if you are not already doing so.

Irina Now I haven’t been following Irina for a very long time, but these past few weeks have been a blast. She always finds time to respond to your comments while at the same time making very cool posts. Her humor is one of the things I like most about her. Every post just has some kind of joke in it, that at times has really put tears into my eyes. And occasionally that has managed to let me spill my drinks too lol.(Why I am laughing about this last statement I don’t really know). Seriously though, not only has her blog been growing at an astonishing rate, she also is the inventor of the Blogwarming Party. This wonderful idea showcases new blogs that have only just started out and puts them in the spotlight. A truly incredible and selfless act, so that is why I think she more than deserves this award.

Vinnieh What to say about this man? Everything I say is probably way too less, but I will try and make an attempt anyway. Vinnieh runs not one, but two blogs. The first features amazing movie reviews. I always thought that I knew a lot about movies, but I have more than met my match. His knowledge about the world of film is astounding and I have discovered some incredible new movies because of his reviews. His other blog is a bit naughty and features the world of erotica but in a very tasteful way. He is also one of those miracle workers that not only writes terrific posts, but always responds to your comments in a very kind way and sometimes almost as soon as you post them. He really has grown into a terrific friend, and is also one of the most kindhearted indivuals you will meet on WordPress.

Sonea If I would not have included Sonea for this one I would seriously have cursed myself forever. Another person that I have really grown to admire over the past few months, Sonea is a woman that just never gives up. Again out of respect for privacy I’m not going to say what she has been going through, but trust me on this when I say it is very, very hard. She has been out of blogging for a while, and is now slowly getting back into it, but I do know it still is very tough for her to do so. Her reviews are absolutely amazing and written in a way that at times almost seems as if she is writing a novel. But it is her strength that I really respect. Despite everything that is going on with her, she still manages to comment on posts, and write posts herself. It is something that I don’t know if I could ever do. I really wish you all the best Sonea and I truly hope your amazing courage will never fail you.

The hardest part for doing this post was the rule that I could only nominate five blogs. Alas, I did not make the rules so five nominees it is. I wish I could nominate more people, because I think that pretty much every blog that I follow is amazing. You all inspire me in some way, and I can only say keep doing what you are doing!

Five Flaming Hotties (part 2)

Welcome back to the second part of this tag, where this time I will be focussing on Five Hotties from the world of anime. In case you missed the first part, you can find it right here . The first two paragraphs below are exactly the same as the ones I wrote for part 1, but I thought it only fair to include them here as well. Feel free to skip over them in case you have already read those.

The Tags

The first tag I received from Vinnieh who is just an amazing guy. He actually runs two blogs (seriously where do you find the time for it 😂) one about movies and one that is a bit on the naughty side, lol. He is a terrific writer, with a knowledge about movies that I am often amazed at. But he is also a really kind person, who always responds to your comments in amazing ways. It has really been a blast following along with his blog and exchanging comments with him. So Vinnieh my friend, thanks for tagging me for this one.

The second tag I recieved from The Otaku Judge. You know how you sometimes want to slap yourself on the head for not discovering a blog sooner? This one of them. For almost two months now we have been exchanging thoughts over different kinds of things, ranging from anime to movies, and it has been a blast. Another person who has just been a joy to talk to, as well as becoming someone who always provides interesting and often funny comments to my posts. Hopefully this will continue for many more years. Something you very much as well.

Needless to say follow both of them, as if that hasn’t become clear yet 😂

The rules:

1. Mention the name of the blog you were tagged by, as well as the creators of this game Realweegiemidget Reviews and Thoughts All Sorts  to all blogs involved and including the picture above.

2. List five of your greatest hotties from TV and/or film, i.e. crushes/objects of your affection, including musicians or sports stars too.

3. Tell us how you were introduced to them and why you like them/what appeals.

4. Add some appealing pictures.

5. Tag seven bloggers for their Five Flaming Hotties.

6. Post the rules.

The Five Hotties

5. Lum

Most of you know that I am not a huge comedy fan, but of course there are always exceptions. Urusei Yatsura is such an exception. This anime is almost 40 years old now, but it still one of the funniest series that I have ever seen. At the centre of it all is Lum, the alien princess with her tiger striped bikini. I guess it’s become pretty clear why I had to include her on this list. A real beauty, but with a literally shocking personality. Don’t believe me? Go check her out, and you will find out why I said this.

4. Mikasa Ackerman

This one is probably not a huge surprise either. What is there not to like about her? Her beauty hides a killer instinct and she is more than capable of handling fights all by herself. I love powerful women, and Mikasa certainly is that. Deadly, beautiful and stunning, pretty much all three words are a fitting discription for this deadly Titan killer.

3. Makina Hoshimura

For someone who is supposed to be dead, she really looks amazing. Makina Hoshimura, or the Corpse Princess, is a girl who died but is brought back to life in order to fight evil undead creatures. Even though she is hauntingly beautiful, she is not someone who you would like to ask out on a date. I don’t think there is anyone who can handle twin uzis better than her. A very dangerous, but still stunning girl, with an exotic look.

2. Asuna Yuuki

To not include Asuna would definitely be going against my better judgement. Asuna, the deadly swordswoman from Sword Art Online has grown into one of my alltime favorite anime characters. Both very kind and beautiful, she is a woman who you should be glad to have on your side. Her kindness however, does not mean that she can’t be strong when she needs to be. A fact that she has demonstrated more than once throughout the course of this anime.

1. Motoko Kusanagi

My number one however will always be Motoko Kusanagi, or The Major, from Ghost in the Shell. My love for this character has started when I first saw her in the original Ghost in the Shell movie, and hasn’t been gone since. I love her struggle with her own humanity, and she is simply a knock-out to look at. Beautiful, sexy and very, very deadly she is a one woman army. Never mess with The Major, as she will make you regret it for sure.

My nominations

Just like in part 1, I can only nominate 7 people for this tag, but once again I have chosen four female bloggers and three male bloggers. As I said over in part one, don’t feel any pressure in doing this tag, so either feel free to make a post for this one, or not. Either way I think you are all awesome anyway!

Five Flaming Hotties (part 1)

If there is one thing that I find amazing about running my blog it is getting nominated for awards or particular tags. It is always an honor, but I must also admit that I am really, really running behind on writing these. So first I want to offer my apologies to everyone who has ever nominated me for an award or tagged me in some way, and I haven’t done a post for yet. Don’t think I don’t appreciate it, it is just simply me being lazy not having had enough time to post one yet. That said, I am going to try and put a dent in the backlog of these over the coming weeks, and to kick things off I am going to start with the Five Flaming Hotties tag. I actually got nominated for this one twice, but that offered me a unique opportunity as well. I’m going to be doing this one in two posts, one featuring Five Hotties from the world of movie and television, and the other one from Anime.

5. Morena Baccarin

I was first introduced to the beautiful Morena Baccarin in the tv series Firefly. This shortlived and sadly cancelled tv series  was a unique blend of Western abd Science Fiction. Morena has since then grown into a well known figure in many tv series including Homeland, the re-imagined V and Gotham. Her natural charm and charisma make her an absolute stunning woman, especially when she puts on her wonderful smile. So to not include her on this list would be a sin.

4. Alanna Masterson

This actress is probably not recognised by many of you, unless, like me you are a massive Walking Dead fan. Alanna plays the role of the wonderful Tara. When we first meet her, she is actually on the side of the evil Governor. Luckily she soon recognised her mistake and joins Rick’s group. She has become a series regular, and she certainly is one of my favorite characters. A true natural beauty.

3. Haley Atwell

This British actress most of you will probably recognise as Agent Carter from Captain America. I had seen her in other shows and movies as well however, but really started noticing her in the television series that was made for the beloved Marvel Character. She is quite charming, but also a very strong woman, that can definitely hold her own.

2. Eliza Dushku

If there is one woman that redefines the words Flaming Hottie, it is Eliza Dushku. I had a major crush on her when she starred as the Dark Slayer Faith in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She has made numerous other appearances in such tv shows as Dollhouse, Angel and Banshee, but has never really broken through with her career. A true shame as she is a wonderful actress, with a stunning beauty.

1. Summer Glau

My number one though has got to be Summer Glau. Also someone that I have been following since Firefly she is absolutely incredible in every sense of the word. Sadly though, she had appeared in so many tv series that got cancelled that people have started to think she is cursed. My favorite role from her has got to be in The Sarah Connor Chronicles, where she played the part of Cameron, the Terminator that was assigned to protect John. A bad ass role, that really suited her.

My nominations

This is always the difficult part, I can only choose 7 people to tag for this, but luckily, since I got nominated twice I can do this two times. Before this becomes a thing only guys can do, I have chosen four female bloggers, and three males. In no way should you feel any obligation to do this one though, so feel free to write a post for it or not: no pressure! So here they are in no particular order:

Mr. Bobinsky

The Versatile Blogger Award

Before I start this post, I want to apologise for taking so long to finally get around to this one. I always find it incredibly humbling to get an award for my blog, and I was actually nominated twice for this one.

The first nomination I received from Sophiethestark. Now if you have not yet seen her blog, or her many comments on other blogs, seriously where have you been all these months (just kidding ofcourse). Her blog is absolutely amazing though, and she has always been  very supportive of my own blog. Moreover she always has a kind word to say about posts you publish, and it truly amazes me that people spent their precious time doing that. So, if you are not yet following her blog, hit that subscribe button now. And ofcourse, thank you so much Sophie.

The second nomination I received from Alli who runs an amazing blog called Wormalblog. Now, the term Versatile pretty much falls short regarding her blog. She blogs about an enormous range of different topics, and she is a truly sweet and kind person to talk to. So I guess you know what to do, right? Just hit the link button and subscribe. I promise you won’t regret it. And ofcourse a big thank you for you as well Alli, for nominating me for this award. It really is awesome!

7 Things about me

Well, this is really getting to be a very difficult question to answer. Having received two awards where I already shared 7 things before, I am pretty much running out of things to say that you don’t already know. But let’s see if I can find some new things that are not too erm, boring I guess is the right word?

1. My favorite alltime science fiction movie is Aliens. (I am not counting Star Wars, because that is a franchise and in my opinion a whole league of it’s own lol). As for Aliens, I have seen that movie so many times, that I have pretty much lost count and almost know it by heart.

2. I am more happy staying at home, than going outside. Then again with the enormous amount of hobbies that I invest my time in, I am never bored. Well…..almost never.

3. I can at times be an impulse buyer. If I happen to see a movie or tv show, or even a cool advertisement for something, I can be very easily persuaded to buy stuff I don’t really need. Which pretty much explains the enormous backlog I have.

4. I can occasionally cry when I see a movie. Yes, I know I am a guy, but I am not ashamed to admit it. It does not happen very often though, mind you.

5. I really like handing out compliments. It is receiving compliments that is way harder to accept. I think that is a thing I will always continue to struggle with, and something I will never grow comfortable with.

6. There is one novel that I have read that literally kept me up at night, because I could not put it down (it was so good). That novel is called The Elfstones of Shannara by Terry Brooks. It was at 4 o’clock at night that I realised it had become very late indeed.

7. I have an irrational fear of wasps. As soon as there is one close to me, I turn into a screaming idiot, and try to run away as fast as I can (while avoiding stumbling over my own feet, furniture ot whatever else might be close by)

The honorable nominees

Just as it is getting harder to find seven new things about myself, it also getting hard to find people who have not yet been nominated for this award. That said, the following blogs definitely deserve it, so go check them out, if you are not already following them.

1. Soneawrites a fantastic blog that deals what Anime, movies, books, games, and all kinds of other cool stuff. The blog layout is seriously cool looking, and the posts are also very enjoyable to read.

2. Heyitszel a wonderful blog that deals with all things anime, but does it in so many original ways that variety does not even cover it properly. For instance one of her recent features deals with architecture in anime, which is very cool and original. And she is also a very kind person to talk to.

3. Renxkyoko’s space another very cool blog that deals with so many different subjects that it is almost impossible to cover them all. Simply hit the link and check it out for yourself. I’m pretty sure you will find it to your liking.

4. Artistbybeauty a blog that I have not been following for very long, but which has already made a very lasting impression on me. There are so many different subjects on her blog, that it is always a surprise what will be next. Ranging from tutorials on how to make paper flowers, book reviews, games, and all sorts of other things, variety is exactly the right description for this one.

And that as they say, is that. Thank you for reading and see you at the next post.

One Lovely Blog Award 2

Sometimes, just sometimes, real life catches up to you. For those of you that have been following my blog for a while now, you might have noticed that the past two weeks I have been a little bit less active than usual. I have checked in with everyone’s blog where I could, but the posts for my own blog were a bit slower than normal. My apologies for that, but the past two weeks my thoughts were a little bit pre-occupied with other things. Hence the beginning, sometimes real life catches up to you.

Now, I am running behind on a few things, most importantly a few of you gave my blog a reward. I always appreciate this very much, and over the coming weeks I will try to catch up on these as much as I can, starting today. First up is the “One Lovely Blog Award” that was given to me by D-talks Anime. Now if you have not yet signed up to their blog, than I want you to stop reading this, hit the link and subscribe. Don’t worry, I will wait….All done? Oh, you want a reason to sign up? Well how about the fantastic posts on anime that are being published on their blog? They are always a pleasure to read, and more over it is really cool (and always a lot of fun) to exchange thoughts with them. Don’t take my word for it, just head over there and be amazed. D, I would almost forget, thank you so very much for this nomination, I really appreciate it a lot 😀

Seven things about little old me…

This being the second time that I have been nominated for this award, it was actually a bit hard to find another seven things to share. But…I came up with a few things regardless.

One: My favorite alltime book character is Raistlin Majere from the Dragonlance Chronicles written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman (if you have yet to read these novels, track them down ASAP)

Two: My favorite food is any kind of Italian pasta.

Three: People have accused me of lying when I tell them that I don’t own a smartphone. This is no joke, I actually don’t own one, but I do have an IPad (see…I can be modern 😂😂)

Four: At times I have a real problem saying no to things. I always want to go out of my way to help people, but at times at the cost of myself. Oh well, I still would not want to have it any other way 😀

Five: My favorite horror serial killer is Jason Voorhees. Yes the friday the 13th movies are horrible, but in fact they are so horrible that I enjoy them so very, very much 😂😂

Six: I almost never get angry (no lie), but one thing that can really set me off is injustice. That is really a thing I can get angry over…(no I am not going to give an example in case I might get angry….and you would not like me when I get angry 😂)

Seven: I don’t drink alcohol. No not because I have any kind of morality issue with it, but simply because I don’t like the taste of the stuff. And I don’t need it to have fun at a party: You bring the fun with you right?

The nominees

Now this time, I am going to give the nominations to a few blogs that I have recently started to follow and have pretty much just started. Not only do I think that they deserve this nomination, but I also feel that they are really on their way to grow, but just need a little bit more spotlight. So…here we go:

Arsangeli Honestly, I almost can’t believe this blog so far only has nine people following it. (At least that’s what it says on the reader, so I could be wrong). There is some truly fantastic (anime style) art on display at this blog, and the amount of talent involved is simply amazing.

Hyoukablog  Anime reviews, amazing poems, this blog features it all. I think this blog is one of the more unique ones that I have started following, and I really like reading all those wonderful poems.

Brendarochelles Neverland Actually, this blogger isn’t new, she is in fact the first person I met when I started blogging. She used to have a different blog, but recently she has started up a new one, but still has way too less subscribers (At least in my opinion). Her blog features movie, anime,K-drama and book reviews which are a joy to read. Not only that, she is just one of the kindest persons you will meet, and it is always nice to talk to her about a review.

The comic vault One would almost not believe that this blog has started up just a few days ago, but it did. The blog looks seriously amazing and features very cool posts about all of your favorite superheroes. (And also the lesser known ones).

Just anime times This blog features a lot of reviews about my favorite genre of anime: Mecha Anime. The classics, but also the lesser known ones, the reviews are very insightful, and showcases animeseries that I haven’t even heard of before.

Palbableemotion what to say about this blog? How about a seriously cool blog, and a very kind person behind it all? I really like the style of the reviews that are posted (with pictures featuring the anime), and the posts themselves are awesome to read!

Toritsukamanga A really cool blog about the world of Manga and anime with a lot of great and fun posts. Even though I don’t read a lot of Manga, I still really enjoy reading the reviews on this blog.

Remyfool Okay, I admit it, I cheated a bit on this nomination, as this blog is not really new. Still, I have not been following this blog for very long, and we both came to the conclusion that we might have both been living under a rock for not noticing each other’s blog sooner lol. That said, this is another fantastic anime and manga blog, with a lot of fun and interesting posts to read.

So, that’s it for this post. As I have said I wanted to put a bit of spotlight on a few of the newer blogs out there, but in my opinion everyone that is taking the effort to start up a blog, or has been a veteran, pretty much deserves a reward. Blogging at times can be hard, but it is times like these, and interacting with all the wonderful people out there, that make it all worthwhile. See you next time! 😀
