Double feature: The Versatile Blogger Award & The Sunshine Blogger Award

To be nominated for an award is just very humbling. It always really puts a smile on my face every single time. As much as I appreciate them, I honestly have to admit that I don’t always have the time to answer all of them. I am trying to at least play a bit of catch up, and am planning to write a few long over due posts for these later this year. But today I just had to go and thank a blogger who I not only think is very special, but nominated me not once but twice in a row for two awards. I’m talking about the wonderful Anjali. Maybe you have already encountered her blog, but if you haven’t, I urge you very kindly to check it out. She writes amazingly diverse reviews that cover a wide range of topics, but also has other posts that really inspire people. But let me not forget to mention how incredibly kind Anjali is. She is a very gentle soul that always gives amazing comments, and has truly made me blush a couple of times with the support she has shown for me and my blog. So really, thank you Anjali for all your kindness and these awards. This post is for you!

Seven things about myself

Now, more than a year ago, about two months after I started my blog I also got nominated for this award. But seeing as that was such a long time ago, and I have gained a lot of new followers since that time most of you probably won’t know about the 7 things that I am going to be sharing here about myself. But just in case you were here since the beginning, and might find a few of these things sound familiar, my apologies for that. So….here we go:

  1. Wasps. I have an irritional fear of wasps. Even though I have never been stung by one of those dispacable creatures (and I really plan on keeping it that way), I am terrified by them. When one comes near me, I overturn tables, and turn into a complete nutcase in trying to get away from it.
  2. Impulse buyer. I am really not a very good friend to my wallet. When I am at a con, or in one of my favorite stores, I usually buy way too much stuff. And at times it’s stuff that I really don’t need, but just because it looks cool I buy it anyway. It also pretty much explains why I have way too many hobbies.

    image
Yup…get ready when you read what I have to say about this film. Feel free to call me crazy.
  3. Titanic. I absolutely loved the movie Titanic. It’s still my number one movie to date. So much so in fact that I have seen it nine times in the theatres back in the day. And guess what? The ship still sank every time at the end of the movie.
  4. Shy. Even though you might not notice it when I am writing to you on this blog, or even when you would meet me in real life, but I am a really shy guy. Over the years I have managed to mask it well. But it’s something that I still struggle with.

    image
Yup..this can be me at times.
  5. Insecure. Another thing that you might not notice is that I often lack self confidence and can be very insecure. Just like my shyness I manage to hide it well. But there are times when I severely doubt myself, or at times even get worried I might have said something wrong, when I usually already know that isn’t the case. It can be quite annoying let me assure you of that.
  6. Flying. I am afraid of flying. I have never entered, nor do I ever plan on entering a plane. I know everybody keeps telling me it’s the safest way to travel. You have more risk getting into a car. Blah, blah, blah….you are still not getting me into that plane.

    image
    Home, sweet home.
  7. Home. I don’t go out much. I am much happier staying at home and enjoying my many hobbies than going outside doing stuff. A nice quiet relaxing day reading a book or watching a movie/anime/tv show, is just me having a good time.

My nominations

Just as always, in no way are you obligated to do a post for this. I just wanted to nominate you for having a cool blog and being awesome.

The Sunshine Blogger Award

The rules

As part of this award, I am supposed to:

  • Thank the person who nominated me for this.
  • Answer the questions that has been mentioned in the post
  • Post my set of questions for my nominees to answer
  • Nominate users for ‘The Sunshine Blogger Award

Now this is the question that I got asked by Anjali:

We all dream of what we want to do. What we want to be. There are some crazy dreams (like meeting up with aliens or saving the world like Superman) which we know will never happen but still dream about a lot. Then there are those realistic dreams, like being a writer or a doctor or anything which is “sensible”. I want to know what your “crazy” dream and your “sensible ” dreams are.”

Crazy dream: Well, a few you already know that I can be a little bit crazy at times (no I am not going to be mentioning names here, you already know who you are), so a crazy dream should be easy to come up with right? Erm…..🙄 I guess the craziest dream I can come up with is me being able to build a giant transformable robot with alien technology, that I could pilot like in the anime series Macross that I love so very much. It would be awesome to just show up at work in a thing like that and put it in a parking space (of course crushing a couple of cars along the way).

image
Yep that would be me finding a parking spot. Hey, I did not say I would be a good pilot.

Sensible dream: Well, my sensible dream is certainly less exciting. It might even sound a little cheesy to some of you, but nonetheless I will share it anyway. My sensible dream is to one day hopefully find a soulmate. Having been alone for most of my life, is quite frankly beginning to get annoying. Sure, I can handle being alone quite good, especially considering the many hobbies that I have. But, I would not mind having someone around to share those hobbies with. So yes, sorry it wasn’t anything more exciting like maybe bring about worldpeace, but I guess I am a hopeless romantic at heart. Wow, putting myself on the spot here now…suddenly that insecurity is beginning to surface again…moving on I guess 🙈🙈

My nominations

Just like the award above no one has to feel obligated to do this post. But I nominated you because I think you definitely bring some sunshine to me every day. As for my question, I quite liked the question that was asked by Anjali, so I will ask it too: What is your crazy dream, and what is your sensible dream?

    1. Thank you very much 😊😊 And yes that gif just suited the “shy-thing” perfectly 😀 But it’s a series that has been on my to watch list forever. I really need to watch some more fantasy anime as I have hardly seen anything (anime-wise) in that genre. And that’s really strange as I love fantasy 😊

  1. Awww! Thank you for writing the post! And if I do support you and your blog that’s only because of the support you give me and my blog! And about your dream-not so sure about the robot thing but I am pretty sure you will find your soul mate soon. You are the sweetest guy and I am sure you will find “the” person!

      1. That’s because your posts are always very enjoyable to read and about a lot of animes that I either enjoy or want to find out about more. So that’s why I think you definitely deserve this award 😊😊

  2. Congrats! Those were some surprising facts. Especially the ones about your personality and about flying.
I hope your dreams come true~ Well, not so sure about the crazy one, but it’ll be cool if that came true too. You’re a great person and any sensible soulmate should be able to see that, so I can totally see the sensible dream coming true. 😊

    1. Lol, if the crazy dream were to come true that would of course be awesome…but I have my doubts for that (gee I wonder why 🤔🤔🤔).
But thank you very much. Appreciate your kindness and this comment. So really thank you 😊

  3. Don’t ever doubt yourself. You have a great personality, which shines through your writing. On the topic of dreams, I’m sure your sensible one will become reality soon enough. And if there’s anyone who would be awesome at piloting a robot, it’s you! 🙂

    1. Aww, thank you so much for this very kind comment. And may I say it is great to hear from you again. I know you are busy, but I also hope things are going okay with you.
Thanks again for your kindness, really appreciate it 😊

  4. I got nominated? Raistlin! This is too weird… I am still a very small blog, not worthy of an award at all. I mean hopefully one day but…now? I feel very honoured to be given this award and this opportunity. Thank you very much!

    1. Duh…of course you are worthy of an award. You may have a small blog, but it’s a great blog considering all the cool posts that you have written so far. And I really hope more people will discover it soon enough. So…yes…you deserve this! And of course you are welcome 😊

  5. I am very pleased and also touched to be nominated for your award,, Michel. I don’t pass on awards on blogs, but I will answer your questions.
I wish I hadn’t read from the top though, because I first have to recover from knowing and liking someone who has ‘Titanic’ as their number one film.

I’m not sure whether to laugh, cry, or run out into the street in my underwear, telling everyone “I know someone who has ‘Titanic’ as their number one film!” But as I live in a very small village, and would be unlikely to see anyone walking around, I will just sit quietly, and consider the enormity of having that film as your number one of all time. I may have to seek help later, as I am sure I will think I only imagined that anyone could like that film so much. Even writing about it makes me shudder. Winslet being Winslet, DiCaprio’s acting, and those awful accents. Add the most obvious and unrealistic CGI ever seen in a cinema, and…(I can’t go on, I need a break)

    OK, here are my answers.
My Crazy Dream is to be invisible. Since I first watched ‘The Invisible Man’ (and read the book) as a child, I have been fascinated by the possibilities of being able to move around wherever I wanted to go, with nobody being able to see me. But I would like it to only happen when I wanted, and not be permanent, of course. 🙂
My Sensible Dream is harder. Because I am almost 66 years old, I don’t really have one now. But when I was young, that dream was to have a good job, and to get married. I did get a good job (I was an EMT in London), and I also got married. Three times. 🙂

Best wishes, and congratulations on your awards, Pete.

(OK, ‘Titanic’. You were just joking, right? Please tell me you were…)

    1. Haha…oh man, I don’t think I have laughed at a comment so hard in quite a while. But erm….sorry Pete it is no joke 🙈🙈
Sometimes, for maybe even reasons you can’t explain, a film touches you in a way that just is very hard to describe. That’s what happened to me in Titanic. Maybe I am just as I said, a hopeless romantic, which would explain it too I guess lol. Well…close runner ups to this one though is Heat and Aliens….does that make it a bit better (God I hope so…😅😅🙈🙈). Lol..sorry for making you so shocked though 😅😅
As for your dreams…being invisible would honestly be very nice at times. There are definitely quite a few moments in my life where I wish I had been invisible lol 😂
Well…as for being nearly 66…I’m not just saying this because I like you, but I do mean that: it’s still young, Pete. There is plenty of stuff still for you to do and realise. But it’s very nice to read that a few of your dreams have already been realised.
Thanks for your kindness and your awesome comment. Really enjoyed this..and again my apologies for liking Titanic 😅😅

  7. Congratulations on the awards! That crazy dream is actually interesting to see! *^*
And aww… finding a soulmate is not any less of a good dream than bringing about world peace. (OMG I WOULD HAVE SENT THIS WITH A ‘peach’.) And Titanic is a classic movie! I’ll always dream of reenacting that “I’m flying” scene. 😀

  8. Congratulations Raist – I really like your dreams – somehow they seem very in line with the Raistlin I have come to know. Fun, imaginative yet gentle and sweet and not about world domination…. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to tag Shoka (I see you in the comments….)

  9. Congratulations Michel! These are definitely well deserved!💐🍾🥂🎊

Thank you so much for thinking of me.🤗 We are more alike than I realized. I hate insects that sting -bees, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets… Ugh.😱 I loved the Titanic (sorry Pete), although it’s probably not my favorite movie of all time.😁 I have watched it several times though. I tend to be shy and insecure, and because of my health I’m definitely a homebody, although even if I were feeling peachy, I’d rather stay home and read or watch movies.🤔

I had a really crazy dream the other night that I’m still trying to figure out. There were two beautiful white swans in our front yard and they were accompanied by two baby swans, one red, and one blue. I have absolutely no clue where that came from!🤔

As for your sensible dream Michel, I’m a firm believer in soulmates and I know yours is out there.😙

    1. Aww, Kim thank you so much for your kindness and this incredibly sweet comment. It means a lot 😊
And Ugh yes…I love animals…but if wasps could be totally eradicated from the face of the Earth I would be a very happy man 😊 Lol..I had to laugh so much about Pete’s comment this morning. He is so cool and funny.
And it really seems we do have a lot in common. I don’t write awards posts as much as I would want to. But they are fun to write and it makes you at times find out things about other bloggers that you never knew.
As for your dream…Hmmm…don’t really have a clue either. But it doesn’t sound like a bad dream to have luckily 😊
Can’t say this often enough Kim. Please take care and I really hope with all my heart that your pain will go away soon.

    1. Thank you so much 😊😊 haha..yeah it is, is the only film that I have seen that many times in a theatre. What I really love about this film is the way it let’s us relive a truly horrible night through the eyes of two fictional characters that fell in love in such a beautiful way. And in the end it brings that tragedy to a positive end. That and the entire way the film is made: it just totally sweeps you off your feet (at least that is what it did to me). I have now not seen it in over 10 years so maybe this year it’s time to do a rewatch and write a review for it 😊

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Even after 10 years the movie still has a deep place in your heart..And I’ll stop there. I was going to make a Celine Dion joke with how your heart will still go on for this movie, regardless of whether you’re near or far from it, but I’ll stop. :p

  10. First of all, your shoutouts are so lovely!! I can relate about wasps (although I never had a fear of them till I was stung) hehe yup I’m often an impulse buyer too 😉 I LOVE Titanic- I think it’s a fantastic movie!! hehe your crazy dream is hilarious!! But I really admire your sensible dream- I think we all hope for that and that’s a good thing!! 😀 (or at least, in my romantic heart everyone secretly or not so secretly wants that 😉 ) I loved reading your answers here and getting to know you a bit better!

I’m glad you enjoyed the read. It’s at times fun to do these posts where you just let people get to know a bit more about yourself. I’m glad to hear that you love Titanic as well. It’s an amazing film.
And yes…I think that when you would look a lot of people straight into their hearts they would all answer that they would want that 😊😊
Thanks again for your wonderful comment 😊

  11. Thanks so much for nominating me for the award, like Pete I don’t do awards, mainly because a) no-ones ever nominated me before 😀 and b) I don’t know how to display the award picture 😀 but I do appreciate you thinking of my little blog . My crazy dream is to have a superpower and be in The Avengers/ X-Men/ Justice League/Suicide Squad and my boring dream is to save the world and have a new camera.

I have a copy of the Titanic too 🙂 and everyone should have a soulmate because they’re fun to have around, so I’m going to have a second sensible dream that you find one soon xx

    1. Haha…there is always a first time, and really you deserve it. I really enjoy reading (both 😊) your blogs. As for the award picture display (well…I learned that too as I am absolutely terrible at techstuff). But I just googled the award picture and copied it. Then just like a picture you add it to the post 😊😊
But really no problem, as I mentioned I just wanted to show my appreciation to you and there is no obligation to write a post for this 😊
Haha…I love your crazy dream! I probably would have that as a second option for a crazy dream. That would be seriously awesome 😀😀
And there is nothing boring about saving the world (and a new camera is just very cool 😊).
Thanks so much for that very sweet last sentence of your comment. That really was so very kind of you. So really, thank you 😊😊

    1. Of course I thought of you. You really deserve this award as both you and your blog are defintely worthy of the name sunshine 😊😊
Haha…yeah if it ever comes to that i will definitely make sure that the cars will be empty lol (but I do hope I can crush the expensive ones 😂😂).

  12. Of course I wish for your crazy dream to come true, but as there might be some minor technical difficulties achieving that, more wishes go for the realization of your sensible dream. Some say being a nice guy isn’t a profession but also there’s a saying that thinking positive is the first step to success, so hope and succeed, Mr. Hopless Romantic!
    And thanks for the nomination!

    1. Haha…there might be a whole lot of technical difficulties with that. So much so in fact that I think it will never get build lol 😂😂
Awww..thanks. I always try to stay and think positive as much as I can, so I will keep on doing this, and of course you are very welcome 😊

  13. A fun post as always 🙂 And thank you for the nomination! I really appreciate it 🙂 Love hearing your 7 facts. I’m also pretty shy and more of a homebody since I actually enjoy my hobbies too 🙂 Also have a fear of wasps, well, any stinging insect really, lol

And don’t feel embarrassed that Titanic is your favorite movie. I absolutely LOVE that movie! I’ve seen it many many times, and it has a fond place in my heart. I’m also a hopeless romantic, and it’s one of my favorite love stories. The whole thing feels so grand and epic, and I loved the effects, especially for the time. I could definitely go on and on about how awesome Titanic is 🙂

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Haha…I could do that too. In fact I was just saying in another comment that it’s now been more than 10 years since I last saw the movie. It’s time to revisit it again this year I think.
And of course write a review for it 😊😊
Seems that we have a lot in common though 😀
I’m glad you enjoyed reading the post, and of course you are very welcome 😊😊

  14. Thanks so much for the nomination 🙂 I really appreciate it 😀
This is just an awesomely sweet post, I don’t know where to start 🙂
Wasps, I can completely understand that fear. Wasps basically fly around looking for victims to sting (they are pure evil).
Titanic is a great movie, I can see why you love it 🙂 (I still think there was enough room on that big piece of floating wood, for Jack too.)

Also, Oh my Glob, a giant transformable robot. I love it 😀 I too would love to build a transformer hehe
And Awww your Sensible dream is so nice and sweet. I really hope it comes true for you some day 😀

Haha…so true wasps are evil creatures. I think that they have been created by evil scientists that want to make us suffer lol 😂😂

  17. Man.. your fear for wasps is equivalent to my fear for spiders. I hate being surprised by one and always up going into some twisted Hulk mode trying to squish it as fast as I can before it disappears. Damn. How’d you watch a movie 9 times in theaters. I’ve done maybe 3 times max for a particular movie, but more than that and I’d be broke hahaha And man, hope you do find that special someone. I always told myself that things happen in due time, and I hope you’ll cross paths with that special one soon enough. It’ll be special. 🙂

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Haha…well spiders I can live with…wasps though: HULK SMASH😂😂
Well…the movie was in theatres for a lot of months, so it was quite easy to see it so many times. But yeah this was once in a lifetime. Can’t imagine that happening again anytime soon.
As for that special someone..well I hope so too, but it’s been so long now that I have kind of given up hope. But who knows, anything can happen. Thanks again for your comment 😊

  18. I love these kind of tags because it’s so interesting, always, to find out more about the blogger! I share my irrational fear of spiders with Lashaan… and wasps- they’re creepy looking mofos as well so don’t blame ya on that.
Love that you love Titanic and are honest about it… It actually is quite the movie! I’ve seen it myself a number of times but yep- it still manages to squeeze those tears out of me… hehehe…
Your crazy and sensible dreams sound good, too… the crazy one because yay for alien technology! 😀 (I may be a bit of a nut when it comes to aliens and my fave past time for a while was watching Ancient Aliens on TV.. no matter what anyone thinks of me for it 😀 ) and your sensible dream is really something we all have wished for or wish for. I hope you find your soulmate! 🙂
