One of the most fun aspects about blogging, as well most of you know, is the fact that you come across a lot of cool blogs, but even better: the amazing people behind those blogs. I have been following Pete who runs the blog Beetleypete for quite a while now. And I can honestly say: he is one of the good ones. Pete has an incredibly varied blog, with posts that deal with movie reviews, every day life, and even his own (well written) stories. But above all Pete is an incredibly kind blogger, who always has a nice thing to say and is incredibly supportive. Pete has been nominated with his blog for the Annual bloggers bash. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure to run across Pete, press on the link above, and start following him already. And while you are doing that give him a vote as well on the post below. As for everyone else that already knows and loves him: show that same support he always gives you, and go vote already: I already did! Let’s all keep our fingers crossed and hope Pete wins, because he most certainly deserves it! As he always says himself: best wishes Pete! 😊
Originally posted on The Annual Bloggers Bash: It’s that time of year again… The 2019 Annual Bloggers Bash Awards are now open. As always, we had a huge number of nominations. So let me thank everyone who took the time to nominate their fellow bloggers. Without you guys nominating, there would be no bash awards.…
As you might recall way back in january Jon @JonSpencerReviews created an amazing project called Jon’s Creator Showcase. It was a project that had almost died down, but I refused to let that happen and reached out, together with Jon, to revive it. And it payed off. The response was overwhelming and I am so incredibly happy to see Jon’s project has been embraced by so many amazing people. Now, if you have not yet encountered Jon (seriously where have you been), be sure to check out his blog by pressing on the link above. You will not regret it I guarantee you that! I was supposed to be the host of this event in april of this year, but due to my hiatus I could not do it and Mel was kind enough to take over the hosting duty for that month. Seriously, I have said this already many times, but again thank you so much for that. It’s certainly something I will not forget. This month though, I will be your host, so let’s get started!
How it works:
I’m accepting submissions via Twitter from now until the 25th of August. Be sure to use the hashtag #jonscreatorshowcase I can not stress how important using that # is, because else your submission might easily be missed, which would be a real shame.
Submissions should be your best/favourite post from July.
It does not matter what your post is about as long as it is not offensive and can be read by everybody.
Give exposure to both the host & creators who submit content to the showcase.
Highlight a wide variety of content including written word, art, video, audio, etc…(each post will be categorized/sorted)
Allow for all creators, regardless of skill or current recognition, to participate and share their creations.
Encourage involvement from creators across all platforms.
Offer a fun and interactive way for people to discover new and interesting creations.
Inspire growth and exploration for both the host and creators.
Well…that about wraps it up. I am going to be looking forward to seeing your submissions for this one (and of course reading them all which will be even more fun). I know you are all amazingly talented people, so it will probably be very hard to make choices, but I guess I am up to the challenge. (At least I hope I am, absolutely no pressure whatsoever). Depending on how things are going to go, you might see a little bit less activity from me on my own blog, as I really do take this seriously and want to be able to really give this one my all.
Before I forget credit goes out to The Moyatorium for hosting last month’s event. Thank you so much! Last month has a lot of very cool submissions so let’s see if we can make this month even better! For now, everybody have fun and see you around!
I have always though that the best thing about blogging is meeting all kinds of wonderful people from all over the world. Most of these people you will in all likelyhood never meet in real life (but hey who knows, one can always hope) but that doesn’t mean you can’t become very close friends here. I think all of you that read this post would agree that some people on WordPress are just a little bit more special than others. Dani is one of those people. Ever since I have known this powerhouse of a woman, she has shown nothing but kindness, offering encouraging words, and supporting other bloggers in extraordinary ways. And all this despite everything she is going through and if you have been following her for a while like I have, you know her life has certainly not been one of the easiest. But that doesn’t stop her from being positive and still spreading her wonderful vibes all over the place. Lately though, and I am sure everyone else has noticed that too, she has had it especially tough. Which still doesn’t stop her from continuing to fight bravely, and wow how I admire that.
Today, the 31st of July, it’s Dani’s 30th birthday and I was thinking about a way how we can all cheer her up, and make her birthday at least a day that will make her feel happy. And that’s why I came up with the idea for this post. I want everyone to spread this post as much as they can. If you have a twitter account use the #Danirockshappy30th (let’s see if we can make that trending, which would of course be awesome). If you don’t have twitter, reblog it if you want to, or else leave a comment on this post to wish her a happy 30th birthday. I know a lot of you are following Dani as well, and care for her, so it would be really awesome if we can make this post something that will put a smile on her face and make her at least for today, forget some of her troubles. Let’s show her how special we all think she is! Thank you all so much already in advance. And just to start things off here: Dani, if you are reading this: a very happy 30th birthday 🎉🎉🎉. I truly hope the coming weeks will bring some positive things for you. You are a shining light in this community and never forget that. And of course how else could I end this post by simply saying: YOU ROCK!!!
So remember how a few days ago I promoted a blogger who had just reached 100 followers and did all those push ups to thank his followers? Well, it turns out he had a really fun idea for all of us to start writing a book. And of course it was inevitable that at some point this tag would reach me. Did not expect it to be almost right away though. Thanks Irina….erm I think 😅
So if you want a reminder of what the idea was about, or haven’t even seen it yet, just read Arthifis’ post. I have to be honest the last time I wrote a story was on school about 25 years ago I guess….so yeah, I am getting old now lol. And nervous for making this even remotely interesting to read. Okay, erm…here we go. But first the rules:
Here’s a quick reminder of the rules:
1. Copy the post you’ve been tagged from the rules down (with the links)
2. Go here and read the rules
3. Write your name and link it to one of your posts (The main character is called NoGender and as the name indicates, does not have a gender, so if you want to speak in the third person use the word “it”)
4. Write your paragraph (max 200 words with 100 words margin)
5. Tag someone’s post who wasn’t tagged before and say the following rule in the same phrase “You have 3 days to accept this tag”
6. If the person you tagged doesn’t answer or doesn’t want to participate tag other person (again, tag a post and not a page)
7. Write the Title “Let’s All Write a Book | Chapter 1 | Paragraph X”, being X your paragraph
Arthifis Chapter 1.1 : It was the same dream again, for a week NoGender was always having the same dream. Drowning… It was funny actually, since “it” had the power of controlling water.
NoGender woke up breathing heavily as always… Next morning would be the final exam for him to be a full edge water bender, but without having proper sleep for a week, NoGender was getting nervous about it… “Its” concentration was not as good as normal, “It” had found itself almost falling asleep countless times while trying to train its skills the best it could and, at this moment “it” was getting anxious that it would just fall asleep in the middle of the exam. With these kind of thoughts, “It” bended over to the other side and fell asleep again.
NoGender was part of one of the most important schools of the kingdom. It was usual for someone to bend any kind of elemental, however only until a certain point… Having really the power to bend an elemental power to someone’s will was extremely rare. Every kid with age of 5 needed to do the national yearly exam to show their abilities, although simple, the exam was enough to see if the bender had enough capabilities to be a “true” bender or not. In thousands of children only 1%, in average, would be good enough to enter this prestigious school. However, being chosen and being in this school didn’t meant they would be benders all their lives, when these already special children got to 18 years old, their powers could just disappear from night to day, because of that, everyone did the final exam in their 18th birthday day, if they passed they could choose which path they wanted to continue and join one of the specialized schools they prefered.
Irina Chapter 1.2 : It was no good. The worries and anxieties could only be pushed aside so far before they needed to be dealt with.
OK NoGender thought, this is going nowhere. Might as well get this day started so I can get it over with. It figured the library would be a good place to while away the remaining hours before the exam. It was way too nervous to get any actual studying done but at least it could pretend, that’s what **good** students did, right? Fake it till you make it! It was starting to get a sinking feeling that making it was always a bit fake anyways. At least the library was close to the main campus.
As NoGender distractedly ambled into the stuffy reading room, with the comfy leather chairs, that were now considerably more patchwork than leather, and the assorted desk and floor lamps that all gave off different lights, it noticed that the room was already stuffed with nervous looking students, all seemingly at a loss as to what to do with themselves.
A tall skinny boy with a smile that was the polar opposite of comforting, caught his eye. If NoGender was this anxious, he could only imagine what poor Schickley was going through, that kid had trouble handling the stress of ordering lunch. NoGender worried about him. As their eyes met, it greeted its friend in what it hoped was a reassuring manner:
-Hey Shakes, wanna go get a drink after this?
-Geni, oh good you’re here! Did you hear what happened?
Raistlin Chapter 1.3 : NoGender looked at it’s friend in puzzlement. “Hear what?” it asked. If anything, it seemed Schickley was even more nervous than normal. Which was saying something. Just as Schickley was about to answer, a small tremor rocked the floor of the library. Students began looking up from their books, and just then the tremors started getting worse. People screamed in fright, and small cracks appeared in the marble floors of the library.
A real panic now began to take a hold of the students and everyone started rushing towards the great double doors that formed the exit. Schickley and NoGender got swept up in the crowd and lost sight of each other. Then someone yelled ” The doors are locked!! ” NoGender wasn’t someone that was quick to panic, but it began to creep up on “it”. What was going on? But then the worst tremor yet shook the building.
Bookcases began to fall over, and great chunks of the ceiling came loose and started falling on students. NoGender dove under a table just in time, as a big block of rubble crashed down on the space where he had just stood. And then a terrible inhuman howling sound started……..
To be continued….
Okay I have to admit: this was a lot of fun! And now for the tag: Shokamoka I choose you! Sorry about this, but come on, we all know you were asking for it with those comments you left over on Irina’s post. So no pressure. But just a quick reminder “You have three days to accept this tag” Good luck, and looking forward to seeing where you are going to be taking the story.
"Consider, can the universe be justifiably called infinite? Doubtful. It may not have a discernible end, but it had a beginning and its component parts definitely have a limited cosmological shelf-life. Splitting hairs or not, if history tells us anything, it's that scientists often make very poor poets. We're all just a ship of fools chasing phantoms, heedless of what really underwrites natural law." - Okabe Rintaro
