Goodmorning, goodafternoon , goodevening, or maybe even goodnight! No idea when you are reading this post ofcourse, but I always try to be polite. So, we are already at the halfway point of February, and that means it is time to reveal the theme for next month. A few of you already knew about this (because really I am terrible at keeping secrets), but for those of you that didn’t yet know or for some reason missed the title of this post: it’s anime! I’m very excited for this month, for not only is it a theme that is very close to my heart, it’s also because if all goes well I have some collab posts lined up that I am really looking forward to. Just like last month I am going to ask you for some help again. For this month I am going to be reviewing two animes that will be selected by you the readers. And yes…..there are again a couple of rules for this. Ugh….I know I hate them too. But let’s get them over with, shall we?
The Rules
Well, don’t worry I’m not going to make them very tough again, so here goes:
- The anime must either be on Crunchyroll or Netflix (please bear in mind that I live in Holland, so not every show might be available to me. If it isn’t I ofcourse will let you know, so you are able to choose another one)
- The anime must have a maximum length of 12-13 episodes (It can be a first season, if it has that number of episodes)
- Any genre of anime is allowed, except full on comedy series (sorry, I just don’t like that genre and would not even know how to write a review for that)
- Leave your choice for the two animes in the comments section
- You can leave a comment on this post up until the 25th of February
- The two animes that will be selected will be revealed on the 1st of March and just like last month I am going to use a random number generator to determine who has won
- The two bloggers that have won will get an honorable mention on my blog
That’s it! Pretty simple huh? As always I want to thank you for your help, and I am really looking forward to seeing what you are going to come up with. Rest assured for the people that are not into anime, there will still be other content as well such as movie reviews and hopefully another Korean drama series. See you on the next post!
On board with the hentai train choo choo! 🚂

I’ve just been checking out Godzilla on Netflix, might be a good place for me to start.

I haven’t seen that one yet…but I’m definitely going to check it out. Another one you might enjoy is Knights of Sidonia. The first season of that is pretty good. The second season was a bit of a letdown, but still enjoyable enough

The Ancient Magus’ Bride and The Vision of EscaFlowne. One new and one old (both on Crunchyroll). ^_^
LikeLiked by 3 people
Well…Ancient Magus Bride is still an ongoing series. But I can do a review for the first 12 episodes if this gets chosen if that is okay with you😊 As for Vision of Escaflowne it’s not available for me…but I do have it on dvd. Don’t exactly know how many episodes it has but will check that out. Thanks for the recommendations 😊
LikeLiked by 1 person
If you decide to take on Magus, I’d definitely be interested in your take on the first half. As far as EscaFlowne, sad to hear it’s not available in your area! Might still be interesting to do the DVDs since a new generation will soon be introduced to it ^_^
LikeLiked by 1 person
Well…I will let the computer do the deciding (as this sort of a competition kind of thing lol😊), but if it does get picked I will do my review for the first half.
As for Escaflowne, I have acces to it..so I won’t mind watching it on dvd 😊😊

I second Vision of Escaflowne, though it is 25 or 26 (I forget which).

Yeah it is longer I checked that just now too…but I might be able to do a review for the first part in some way. Will have to see 😊
LikeLiked by 1 person
Be forewarned, it’s not 2-13s. The series just keeps going. Episode 12 begins a new arc, which lasts about 3-4 episodes.
More than most, the arcs in Escaflowne tend to flow into each other. Only a handful of episodes end on what feels like a stable stopping point.
Don’t get me wrong, I love it. But most episodes just pull you right into the next one.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Well, that’s true. The thing is a long time ago I made a start with Escaflowne. And I am talking about at least 10 years ago here. But never finished it, so I already know it’s pretty awesome. If this gets selected, I will probably split the review in two part. But will have to wait and see if of course it gets selected in the first place.😊😊

I vote for Squid Girl and Silver Spoon, both are on Crunchyroll.

Thanks for the recommendations. Squid Girl is available for me, Silver Spoon unfortunately isn’t 😢 Ugly….that’s Holland for you . Do you have another recommendation perhaps?

Oh, what a bummer! Silver Spoon is great, and quite unlike anything else you’ll watch, so if you get the opportunity to track it down somehow it’s well worth a watch. (Not sure if it’s on Netflix, I haven’t checked.)
Something else, huh… hmm… I’ll throw Sound! Euphonium into the ring, then, if no-one else has! I still need to watch the second season of that sometime…

I will definitely try to remember the name of Silver Spoon. In fact…I have noted it on my to watch list now.
And yes, Sound Euphonium is available ! So…noted it down. Thanks for the suggestions and let’s see if this one is going to make the cut. Thanks for these recommendations 😊

I’d like to say Ancient Magus Bride also, but It’s episode count is in the 20s, and it’s still running. Although it does have a mid season break after 12 episodes, so you could just talk about the first 12 as they wrap up pretty nicely. That’s on Crunchyroll.
My other pick would be Devilman Crybaby, not something I liked especially, but it’s vastly different and has a lot to talk about. That’s on Netflix.

Thanks for these 😊 I can definitely do a review for the first 12 episodes, so that is no problem. If it gets selected I will do that. And Devilman Crybaby is still on my to watch list too..so that’s awesome. Thank you for participating 😊

Cyborg 009 on Netflix. Though…I only know the older version, this one is a bit more modern looking. Or Cowboy Bebop….cause old school.
On crunchyroll I would go for Fushigi Yugi or Gundam Wing… problem these are way over 12 episodes (the ones on netflix probably too).
So only watch these (the ones on crunchyroll) when you want to start a good old anime. I loved looovveedd those two so much! Gundam wing was my favourite (aside from sailor moon…❤)
So just consider my ideas as tips. Not part of a competition suggestion 😜
LikeLiked by 3 people
Thanks! Cyborg 009 will be entered…the other two I will keep as things I need to watch at some point or other as the are both either over a 100 or over 50 episodes. As much as I would love to do that…I just would not know where to find the time lol.
Cowboy Bebop als has nearly 24 episodes…but I will keep it as a backup 😊 Thanks!!

oh man… When people ask for recommendations I can feel my brain freezing. It is like there are so many good things to watch that they all flood to the front and I can’t remember anything. Wish you could see Made in the Abyss Amazon has the monopoly on that one. I would say Bungo Stray dogs. It has super unique magic and the characters are amazing. The art is beautiful and it is just awesome. It has two seasons and a short little mini season at the start of season 2. The op are also amazing as well. This anime will not disappoint.

You’re welcome. I was also surprised by the numerous Cyborg 009 mentions as well. Call of Justice is based on a very old-school anime, but they explain everything in the first episode, so it works for new and older viewers with the styorylines. It’s only 12 episodes long, by the way.

What?! That I did not know! I definitely thought it would be awesome to see a live action version of this story. A bit nervous though since this is such a high level fantasy concept. They really need to spend the big bucks to make it awesome and not cheesy.

Check so you have ticked the little box saying you allow mature content. If you haven’t it won’t show. (Cause that was the case for me at first 🙄😎 Which is stupid because all they do is kiss and please, a lot of people kiss in their featured anime but suddenly it’s mature because it’s two boys. 🤔😒 Anyway…) Well, if it’s not I’ll come back to you on a second choice. 👍🏻

There is a mature content tab? Didn’t even know about that one. Wow…feeling more of a noob than usual now lol🙈🙈🙈
Anyways…just checked it…and it still doesn’t show for me…so…i’m guessing it isn’t available for me here.
So it comes down to a second choice here…sorry….😢😢😢
Ugh…at times I swear I hate living in Holland…….

What the actual…? How can it not be licensed in Holland? Like for real. That’s just stupid. Well, how about Sekai ichi Hatsukoi then. *she doesn’t give up on the boys love department* No, that is not my final choice, I am just curious if you have access to it. I am gonna think some more about my second choice.
And yes there is such a thing and it is ridiculous because how many series do they actually count as mature? Like the boys love ones. 🙄 I actually turned off the filter and SL did show anyway but you could only see the episodes when you search for it (you did write it in two words? If you didn’t you won’t get a hit 🙄 CRs search engine sucks…or possibly hates me) and when you clicked on them a huge warning came about how it might have content that can be sensitive to younger viewers. Then I searched for Citrus and there I came directly to the series front page without a warning or anything. HOW!!! is there any difference between these two series? Except, I mean, the rape elements in Citrus. (no I haven’t seen Citrus but I have read enough about it to realise the huge trigger in it to not see it. Me and rape is not a good combination when it comes to women being sexually assulted) So, why are these two series treated differently? *sorry not gonna rant about it more than this*

I think what happened is that my profile had to be updated after the changes I made to it. So….guess what? Super lovers is there now. Well…and then it has now been added to the list. And the computer is going to decide what will win. We will see soon enough, as March is only a few more days from now (well 2 weeks but who is counting? 😂😂😂)
Haha, no worries..you may rant all you want, which is cool. I like rants.
I have heard some pretty bad things about Citrus too. It’s not really as series that I would usually pick up and watch. And as it has a trigger warning for you I’m going to go full Asta on you by saying: STAY AWAY FROM IT!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
But yeah sometimes I don’t really understand how some series /movies seem to get a warning..and others don’t. Probably much bigger science at work here than we can comprehend 🤔🤔🤔

Well, people are generally more outraged by boys kissing boys than by girls kissing girls for some reason. I am not sure why but it is the same in real porn. Maybe because it’s straight men who like lesbian porn (and yuri) while it’s gay guys who like gay porn exclusively and women (and some gay men) who like boys love? It is after all, unfortunately, still men who rule this world. And when it comes to sexual abuse, people seem to think that it is worse if it is a man who commits a rape than when it is a woman. News flash, it isn’t.

Haha..yay indeed 😊
Hmm wel I am a straight guy, but I don’t have a problem with seeing two men kissing. I am not that narrowminded and I have quite a few friends that are gay as well.
Unfortunately we still live in a society that seems to think otherwise..which I think is really shameful and obviously very stupid.
True enough. I don’t see how rape that is caused by a woman could be any different or less hurtful than when it is caused by a man. Weird that people also seem to think otherwise for this as well 😢😢

I don’t get it, people are people. Let who ever kiss whoever. As long as no one kisses someone who doesn’t want to be kissed. Simple as that. If you don’t like to see people kiss then just close your eyes. Kids get it so why can’t grown ups do?
Women are the weaker sex so of course isn’t womens sex crimes as severe. I guess that’s how people see it. Just as women can’t possibly be pedophiles. 🙄 The most stupid thing in the world really.

Well…the world is full of amazingly stupid people at times. I don’t get it either: why can’t two people that love each other be allowed to express that love? It just doesn’t’ make sense….in like…at all. But I guess for some very narrow minded people it does.
Well..I now that a lot of men like to think that way: women being the weaker sex. I am not one of them though. Especially since I know quite a lot of strong women that are very much more the stronger sex and then some.
But you are right though: it is stupid. …ughhh…😢😢

Hmm well there are just so many shows I know you haven’t watched yet XD I’d really enjoy reading any review of yours and I love the idea! I guess I should pick two shows then:
1. Ga-Rei: Zero – Not a lot of folks have talked about this one. It’s a prequel for a manga series so it has one of those “read the manga” endings BUT it is a self-contained story in regards to the major story beats. The first episode is of particular note but I don’t want to spoil anything for ya 😉 There are 12 episodes total. It is a darker series, which I guess shouldn’t be too surprising given who’s recommending it XD
2. For my second recommendation I’ll go for something a bit more upbeat. How about Rolling☆Girls? It’s really different and visually interesting. I wouldn’t say it has the strongest story but the characters are fun. I think you’d have a good time with it. There are 12 episodes for this.
I of course could recommend you stuff all day but I think that this would be a good balance of stuff to watch and write about. Either way, lookin’ forward to it 🙂

Any time! 😀 That’s so lame that they don’t have it for you… Ga-rei Zero would have been so interesting. Ok, then I will pick another one. How about Kids on the Slope? It’s a teen melodrama (which makes it sound awful) about a group of jazz musicians made directed by famed Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop). You should be able to watch that one. Glad you thought my picks seemed interesting too 🙂

Ah sorry, I didn’t check your backlog. Glad you did enjoy that though. Hmm ok, here is one more (and hopefully one that’ll work XD).
Sunday Without God/Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi – 12 episodes. It’s kind of all over the place in quality but poses some interesting questions. It takes place in a world where God just left and now nobody can die. Well, they can but only if they are killed by specific people. It leaves a lot unanswered in the end but I did enjoy it. Has been a long time since I watched though so don’t have many specifics to add.

No worries man. Having restrictions on availability just made it tricky but it was no big deal. Plus one rec was my bad for not checking in advance :p

Hey, this is your jam! I ain’t no expert in this field but I’ll go ahead and pick Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night cause I was recommended to check them out at some point by friends. No clue if you’ve seen them, but I know I have them on Netflix Canada! 😀 And man, I’ll have a good laugh if you somehow end up watching hentai because of this feature hahah

Ughhh..well I wish I would live in Canada. Unfortunately I live in Holland, as both shows are not available for me to watch 😭😭
Do you perhaps have any other series that you could recommend?
Haha…yeah I know it’s my jam lol. But I really like these interactive engagements and it gives me a chance to promote other bloggers which I always like to do 😊😊
Lol….I would have a very good laugh if that were to happen indeed! 😂😂😂

Well, since you’ve showed interest in both of them and figured you’d watch them eventually how about… Blend S and Recovery Of An MMO Junky. I didn’t see anyone else bring them up.

No they haven’t been named so far. Blend S is unfortunately not available for me (ugh…I have typed this line way too often today…sometimes I hate living in Holland). But Recovery of an MMO junky is.
Do you perhaps have a second choice for Blend S?
Thanks for these already by the way, awesome 😊

Hmmm… How about… *Thinks about all 20 anime she’s watched* umm resteraunt to another world? Keep the restaurant theme going. So much of what I’ve seen is longer then 12 episodes.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Lol…well that’s’ about the amount that I watched so…I can relate.
As for restaurant to another world…it’s available for me, so thank you. It’s been added to the list. Let’s see if it will make the cut. In two weeks we will find out. Thanks for the suggestions and of course participating. Appreciate it 😊

Castlevania. 4-episode first season and it’s on Netflix, though I’ve no idea if it’s available in Holland.
My Hero Academia’s first season is only 12 or 13 episodes, but I’ve no idea about it’s availability.
What do you mean about comedies? Like, how would you define it, because some shows are pretty funny.

Well…I have already seen Castlevania, a review for that is lurking somewhere on my blog for it lol.
And I can’t get acces to My Hero Academia through official means but someone sent me a link so I might be able to see it in that way.
Do you have a second choice for Castlevania? (Thanks for these by the way. Awesome!)
As for your question. I don’t mind comedy elements in a series. But if it’s a series that is full on comedy and nothing else, that’s where I am not interested in it 😊😊😊

Heh, it’s not so much that I don’t have other recommendations, but rather that I have way too many of them, LOL.

Eeeny, meeny, miny, moe… this requires a randomizer… oompa, loompa, doopity-do… (about five minutes of random-choices and screening later)… One Punch Man and The Devil is a Part-Timer are both of the appropriate length and on Netflix. 😉

Hahaha…really had to laugh about this one..😂😂😂😂 Cool…thanks for these choices…I’m going to be doing the random thing as well when I will let the computer make the decision for this…but I’m not going to be saying Oompa Loompa Doopity-do though 😂😂😂 Thanks 😊😊

1.)Angel Beats; you referenced a gif of it, the soundtrack, the character development and twists in the plot make this an incredible anime that’s short-lived and leaves you begging for more.
2.) Another; The art style is unique and eerie, the story grabs you from the very start, holy fuck is it brutal. I promise you’ll never look at umbrellas again. This is Final Destination meets anime.

Thanks so much for these recommendations. Starting with number 2…that one really is one of my favorite all time animes. You really aren’t kidding about those umbrellas lol 😂😂 Unfortunately though..I have already watched it and written a review for it.
And the first show I don’t have access to here in Holland….which kind of sucks as it sounds seriously cool as well.
Do you perhaps have any other recommendations? (Thanks in advance 😊😊)

Awee i’m sorry D:
AND I do! I’ve watched over 500 series hopefully these are available or you haven’t seen yet.
If you enjoyed Another you may like Blood-C, it has a similar style, its a short story with an interesting story and right amount of action, but it’s not for a weak stomach.
Charlotte is also a short series that has an interesting story but the ending is a tad bit lack luster but the overall experience was enjoyable.
Just in case adding a third reference; K-On! it’s a slice of life. I wasn’t a huge fan of that genre but this anime blew me away with the soundtrack and the cuteness of all the characters the humor was perfectly spread between each episode; I was in a dark funk at the time and the anime always seemed to lift me out of my crappy mood no matter how bad my days were.
Hope these help, IF NOT I’ve got plenty more suggestions >:3

Haha…no need to say sorry at all. It’s very kind of you to participate in this way, so really thank you 😀😀
I’m going to have to disappoint again though….sorry 🙈🙈🙈 I have reviewed Blood C already (and I agree, it was a lot of fun) As for the other two..they again are not available for me in Holland…ugh…sometimes I really hate living in Holland😢😢😢
But wow over 500 series that you watched. That is truly impressive 😀😀😀

LOL no worries, I just came across your blog so I haven’t looked to see all the series you’ve reviewed 😛
But MHMMMmmmm thinking! I’ll just list out a couple and hope some of them hit the mark LOL
No Game No Life
Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai
Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui!
Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica
Mnemosyne: Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi
Noragami
Tokyo Ghoul
I sure hope at least one of these works O….O LOL and yeah, all I do is sit at home and watch anime really, I started really young though haha. Can’t wait to read the article though :3

Thanks so much for all of these 😊 The last two choices are available for me, and I have to say that I have been wanting to see Tokyo Ghoul in like for ages or so, so that’s really cool….if it get’s selected that is lol😂😂
Haha..well I wish I could do that but I have a pretty demanding day job..so that’s pretty much a no for me lol.I do try to watch as much as I can though. Thanks again, and in two weeks we will see which series are going to be reviewed in March 😊😊

No problem glad to help. And sweet I look forward to it.
And super relatable about the job, during june-november it’s mandatory 60 hrs a week so I don’t get much time but the rest of the year is all game on lol.
Enjoy the series! Whichever ones you end up watching.

Ooooh man I’m looking forward to this 😁 I’ll pick Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (if that is on Netflix for you too). Annnnnd… I think you could do a really interesting review of Recovery of an MMO Junkie, based on your comment on our piece about it, as long as you wanted to go there.

Haha..I’m also looking forward to this, especially which titles are going to get picked.
Unfortunately Fate/stay night is not available for me. Fate/Apocrypha is. I can do a review for that if you want? (That is if it gets picked of course)
As for recovery of an MMO junkie, that one is on cruncryroll, so let’s see if it gets selected in two weeks. Thanks for participating. Awesome 😊😊

I absolutely love that you do this- it’s really cool- again I wish I had any suggestions- but even though I have watched anime, unlike horror, I always did it with friends and couldn’t for the life of me remember any of their names- really sorry!!

Haha…no need to say sorry at all. And thank you again for the kind words. I’m glad to hear that you like this.
I’m going to be having a book theme month later this year too..so I think you can definitely help out there 😊😊😊

hahahaha well I’m glad you can relate- I’ve never been told off for it by other English people (too many of them do it too) but Americans have told me *a lot* (to be fair, if I bump into inanimate objects I’ll apologise to them… ;)😂😂😂 )

While there are many anime I like, there are really only two that, to the best of my knowledge, are available via Crunchyroll, fall under 13 episodes, and I would recommend; Baccano and Serial Experiments Lain. They’re both a bit dense, but Baccano is very light hearted, while Serial Experiments Lain is much more serious.
I’d definitely be interested to see what you make of either one.
LikeLiked by 3 people
Thanks…Serial Experiments Lain is a show that has been on my own to watch list for ages. But wouldn’t you know it…it’s not available in Holland..Ugh…figures right?
Baccano is though. So that one goes to the list.
Do you perhaps have a second choice?
Thanks for participating by the way 😊😊

I doubt you have the original Kino’s Journey (not beautiful world), or I’d recommend that. I believe you’ve already done Puella.
I’m a little torn between a few titles. Perhaps you can choose between them, depending on your preference. You will be the one watching after all.
If you’re in the market for an action bounty hunter/mercenary narrative, I’d say Black Lagoon.
If you want something mellow and thoughtful, Haibane Renmei.
If you prefer something darker, but still thoughtful, Death Parade.

Ugh…well….I hope you won’t get mad here 🙈🙈🙈 But I have looked all of these up, and not a single one is available for me. I said it before, and I will say it again. I sometimes hate living in Holland 😢😢😢😢

Oh Glob, my brain has just frozen up and I can’t remember what anime is on netflix (even though netflix is my main source of entertainment hehe). 😦
The only anime, I can think of is Elfen Lied (Elves song). From what I remember, it was really good, but was rather unusual/creepy and an emotional watch. Not sure, what you’d make of it though. (It’s quite gory and has quite a bit of nudity in it. Not sure, if you’d find it distasteful). But sure, it would be interesting to see your opinion on this anime 😀

Hahaha…that is what happens to me as well at times total brainfreeze when it comes to things like this lol😂😂😂
Well..unfortunately Elfen Lied is not on Netflix or on Crunchyroll for me. So…can’t watch it here.
No worries though…if you think of something else, let me know. There are still nine days to go, so plenty of time 😊😊

Haha 😀 I had to cheat and go look at the anime category on Netflix XD
Not sure, if your taken anime movies as suggestions, but I’ve just discovered that, The garden of words is on Netflix. It’s one of my fav anime movies. 😀

Sure…I didn’t specify only anime series. Movies are good as well. Have not seen this one yet. So….adding it to the list. Who knows? Maybe it will get picked 😊😊
Two more weeks and we will find out. Thanks for participating 😀😀

Okay. So you know the amount of knowledge I have about anime could fit in a thimble, but here goes.
1.Castlevania (4eps) – Netflix. I actually did watch this and I liked it but wished it had more eps. I’d love to know what you think of Michel.
2. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood (13 eps) -Netflix

Really no worries Kim. Thanks so much for participating. As for Castlevania, I already saw that one, and did a review for it last year. If you liked it, you might be interested to know that it will get a second season this year, with more episodes 😊😊
As for Full Metal Alchemist…great choice. It’s one of those animes that I have been wanting to see for a very long time now. So very cool
If you have another choice instead of Castlevania let me know😊
Thanks again!

Haha, really no worries. That’s perfectly okay. There are so many things that I am running behind on that it’s almost shameful really 🙈
I have heard of Durarara but I haven’t seen it. Another on on my to watch list lol. Hope you are enjoying it 😊😊

Ahm, no I’m not enjoying… Lol…Not that much really, It’s little slow.. One of our common friends also agreed with me when I said its a little slow though the plot is interesting because it features a girl looking for her head, 🙂 🙂 That’s not a spoiler… hahaha..

Aww..to bad it’s a little slow. I guess you can’t win them all though. Hopefully the next series will be better for you.
Haha…no worries..this is probably a series I’m not going to watch anyway, so even it was a spoiler it would have been alright lol 😂😂
