Deadpool, American movie (2016) : A special Valentine’s Day movie review (sort of…)

Today it’s Valentine’s Day. You know that special day where you are doing extra sweet things for the one you love, making him or her feel extra warm and fuzzy inside. Where you go out for that romantic boatride, that lovely candle light dinner or that extra cuddle. In short it’s the day that is filled with romance. Yes people I am a romantic guy at heart. But for us singles it’s that one day that comes back every year and makes that feeling of still being alone extra tough. (Yes, let’s hear those sad violins now). Seriously people, don’t feel bad for me or show any kind of pity. It’s all right. I’m happy for everyone that is lucky enough to spent this day with their soulmate. So what better way for me to bring that feeling of romance right to you, by giving you this special Valentine’s Day review. And it just can’t get any more romantic than this. What we have here is a movie that is about a man who will do anything for the woman he loves. Including slicing and dicing up people that stand in his way when he wants to achieve that goal. Erm….yes this is a romance movie, I guarantee it.

Awww….reading a love letter. See, I told you this was a romantic movie.

Meet Wade Wilson. He is a dishonarably discharged ex-special forces operative that now works in New York as a mercenary. But then it happens. He meets the escort Vanessa, and sparks begin to fly. Romance blossoms, clothes come off and go flying in all kinds of different directions, and generally it seems like they are a match made in heaven. But just when they are about to tie the knot, tragedy strikes. Wade gets diagnosed with terminal cancer, and their lives are turned upside down. Eventually Wilson decides he doesn’t want to expose Vanessa to see him slowly dying, and leaves. When a mysterious recruiter approaches him and tells him there might be a way to cure his disease, Wade is at first very skeptical. But in the end he relents, especially as this might be a chance for him to be with his true love again. He meets up with a man named Ajax, who has an experimental serum that can awaken latent mutant genes. But there is a catch to this. In order to make it work, Wade has to undergo truly horrible and very sadistic forms of torture.

Oh yeah. There are X-men in this film too. Here’s one that’s out walking his poo(d)l(e).

Every day it becomes worse, but eventually while nearly getting asphyxiated, an incredible healing power is activated. Now he is able to cure any kind of wound, even loss of limbs. It leaves him horribly disfigured however and almost completely unrecognisable. Now, Wade is out for revenge, and wants to get back at the man who did all this to him. And thus Deadpool is born, the “Merc with a mouth”. Wade’s only mission is to find a way to reverse the process, and get back to Vanessa. But this is easier said than done, especially as the man known as Ajax is not only hard to catch, but also has his own plans for Deadpool. And those plans are to completely destroy him, no questions asked…..Yes people, this may sound like it’s just another superhero movie. But I can assure you that it’s not. It’s so much more. Deadpool is absolutely freaking hilarious. It is a brutal R-rated movie that has more F-bombs in it than one might hear in a single week. But oh my god is this movie a lot of fun.

image
This is one of those staring contests. The one who laughs first gets to punch the other.

One only has to take a look at the marketing campaign for this movie before it came out to see how different this one is. The movie banner that is above this post, made it look like a Valentine’s movie, and just the perfect love story to enjoy with your loved one on that special day. And I imagine that a lot of people even fell for it. To tell you the truth though, it really is a romance story at it’s core. Deadpool even says so in the beginning of the film. (But then later he changes his mind by saying it’s a horror). Wade’s love for Vanessa is real, and their relationship is definitely at the heart of this film. But that’s where it pretty much stops. This movie really deserves it’s R-rating. Body parts that go flying all over the place, blood, gore, nudity, foul language, it’s all included in here for your viewing pleasure. And I do say pleasure, because everything is just so completely over the top, that it’s pretty much impossible not to laugh at this. It completely rewrites the superhero genre, and gives us an anti-superhero by making Deadpool one of the most hilarious comic book characters ever created.

This guy has terrible bed side manners.

All credits for this have to go to actor Ryan Reynolds. He already played the character once before in the first X-men origins movie: Wolverine. That however was a completely different take on the character, and could not be more dissimilar from what we see in this film. Ryan lives and breathes this character. His often completely crazy one liners, lewd comments and even moments when he talks to us as a movie audience are worth it alone to see this film for. But on the action front it’s a joy to watch as well. Gory fight sequences, gunbattles and chase scenes are all executed to perfection. The film did not even have a very huge budget, but they made it look as if it did. So was there anything negative to report about this film? Well honestly, I don’t know. Not every joke works I guess, but that is something that is very common to comedy. That’s always personal. But other than that, I would have to go do some nitpicking which I am not going to do.

Pop goes the Deadpool.

Deadpool is a film that is so unique in the superhero genre, that it just simply doesn’t feel like a superhero movie. If you are easily offended by cursing or gore, than I guess you had best not watch this. But if you don’t mind that, this is a film that is just a hilarious rollercoaster ride from start to finish. And of course a perfect film to watch on Valentine’s Day. And I say: why not? It always seems that it is automatically assumed that every girl loves chickflicks or cheesy romance films. And before you start accusing me,  of course there is nothing wrong with that (remember you are talking to the guy who watched Titanic nine times in the cinema). But if you like to see a different and quite hilarious take on a romantic film, this is the one you want to check out. For all of you that are in love, I wish you a heartfelt beautiful Valentine’s Day. And for all of you that are single, hey…don’t give up. True love can be found everywhere….just ask Deadpool.

I give Deadpool a 9 out of 10 score.

  1. Totally agree! It was such a change from the usual Marvel movies, which I love too, but this one was just so cool and funny as. I hope Deadpool 2 is as good. Re Valentines Day, like Christmas it’s commercialised claptrap. Phil and I don’t bother with it at all, we do nice things for each other when the mood takes us, it somehow means more when flowers etc come unexpectedly.

    1. This movie was so completely unlike any other Marvel movie that has been released so far. It was of course completely over the top, but at the same time that is what made it so much fun.
It’s always difficult to say with a sequel, but I do think it’s going to be…the vibe I got from it so far from the (hilarious) trailers…is just as good as the first one.
Yeah..agree Valentine’s Day certainly has turned into a complete commercial thing these days. And exactly why only do nice things on Valentine’s day…when there are so many other days in the year as well 😊😊

    1. Haha…yeah I thought I would so something else instead of the usual Valentine’s films you see popping up all over other blogs 😊😊
But yes, this is such an hilarious and funny film. Absolutely loved it.
Thank you so much: you as well 😊😊

    1. I did too. Before the film was released I caught up on some reading. (As in the comics) I was pretty amazed at how popular the character was. The comics are just as funny as the movie was. They really captured it well.
I really like the character myself and can’t wait to see this year’s sequel 😊

  2. I did like the romance element of this story, though some of the humour didn’t quite land for me. Individual scenes were hilarious and great but it wasn’t quite an overall hit for me. Still, I can certainly see why so many people do enjoy this. Thanks for sharing and this was definitely a different kind of Valentine’s recommendation.

    1. Haha: well I already said it, I wanted to do something different for Valentine’s Day…so that’s when I remembered the hilarious marketing campaign for this one back in the day.
Yeah…humor is always tricky. Nog everyone laughs at the same jokes. There were some in this film, that I also didn’t like (but had some other people in the theatre roaring with laughter ).
But yeah nonetheless I liked it an awful lot…simply because I think the character is really so funny 😊
And it is definitely not the usual romance either lol 😂

  3. So, here’s for romance. Kid’s sick so hubby’s home because me being mentally ill… anyway, he walks by and casually asks “You want pizza for lunch?” “Yeah, sure?” “It’s one of those frozen ones, I’m just gonna heat it in the oven.” Yeah, well, we live above a pizzeria so I assumed, he could at least buy a real pizza. That’s the level of romance here. Aplies to everything.

      1. Haha…I could not agree with you more 😊😊 I also love Deadpool. I bought an enormous amount of Deadpool comics last year, and they were so awesome and seriously funny. Whoever thought up that character is crazy fun. I highly recommend the Deadpool/Cable series..that was such an awesome read 😊😊
Lol…yup…but there is an even better match: how about …wait for it…wait for it….AstaPool? 🤔🤔

      2. Oh man, you just made my day! 😂

Yeah, Deadpool is probably the most entertaining character in the whole Marvel universe i think. I’ve been meaning to buy the comics but something *cough* manga *cough* always comes between. I have read some on my ipad though. very nice read.

      3. I bought this huge 1100 page omnibus of the Cable/Deadpool comic series…it was a b*tch to carry but so worth the buy. Absolutely loved it from start to finish. He really is a great character….I really wander what he will be up to in the sequel 😊😊

        Liked by 1 person

      4. 1100 pages; that is a lot. A heavy read (I have the complete series of Rising Stars in an omnibus and its about the same size pagewise and I imagen otherwise to since comics usually are and I can’t hold it up for very long periods of times because my wrists starts to hurt). I am jealous, I want that one too. 🤤 Maybe I should by some comic books instead of manga next time I shop away. My hubby has bought lamps for around 150 euros these last two days so he promised I could buy manga for the same amount next month. 🤗

      5. Okay…one more I guess…still have five minutes..plenty of time 😊😊
Too bad we don’t have teleporters like in Star Trek. You could totally have borrowed it from me.
There is this thing called Dutch Comic Con in March. There is why I usually buy a lot of comics including huge tomes such as the Deadpool omnibus. Ughh…this isn’t making things better. Well…I could totally look around for you and see if there is anything you would want. There is such a thing as postal services. And of course Asta probably would not mind a little bit of travelling either would he?? 😊😊
        And….I am off…have a great day!

      6. Ahhh! I want a comic con too. It’s not fair. Why is my country so boring? 🙄 You are such a darling. 😘

Have fun at work! Well you are obviously already there since I fell asleep on the sofa and have been looking for anime for us to watch. I also signed up for Hidive and downloaded Viewster to my appletv. I started to think about alternative to Crunchy after Rossiroads post about CR. Well, I already had accounts on both but still, I had never really checked them out. But there are actually some interesting anime there. I found one from 73 which could be fun Casshan. Check it out. It’s on Viewster, you should be able to have that in Holland as well.

      7. I know…I am sorry. I wish there was such a cool comic con near where you live as well. I will take some pictures for you, and I promise if I see something cool, I will buy it for you and sent it to you. It’s the least I can do 😊😊
Well…fun at work. I didn’t have any fun at work. It was a day born straight out of the demon realm…ugh…I seriously hated today…aargh!!! Sorry I just had to rant…😭😭😭
Hmm…just looked at it. It does look like a lot of fun. It has 35 episodes though. Don’t know if I can fit that in my currently way too busy schedule….but…I will try. I think I can manage at least 2 episodes on weekdays, and more in the weekends. Although tomorrow is out as I am going to the cinema 😎😎
But I think we have a winner. Now we have to decide what we are going to be doing though….hmmmmmmmm🤔🤔🤔

      8. Casshan it is then! 🤖 And there’s robots!! Yeah, what do we do with it? Maybe we should discuss this further in an email? I need to answer your email anyway… hopefully I can squeez it in tonight. There’s this little thing called Melodifestivalen tonight… again. 🙄 Every night for five fucking weeks, just to determine who’s going to Eurovisions Song Contest. And it is mandatory to watch if you are a proper Swede. Ugh, too bad I am a sucker for bad music and need to watch this crap. i have since I was born. Actually, I probably watched it already before I was born. That’s how devoted I am to this thing. So yeah, my saturday night is booked. 🕺 🎉

      9. There’s robots???🤖🤖🤖🤖 Okay…now I am definitely in…nice!.
That’s a very good idea..the email thing. It’s a better way to discuss the post I think. Looking forward to it…cool 😀😀 Oh and don’t worry about the other email. Seriously take your time.
Lol😂😂😂 Well that doesn’t really sound like my kind of Saturday night…but yeah….I know how addictive that kind of stuff can get 😊😊😊
Well…I’m so far just keeping the WordPress world alive…answering comments reading posts…etc…and got one of my own posts ready to publish too. It’s a horror movie……😱😱😱😱😱😱

        Liked by 1 person

      10. You missed the vital part that Casshan is a robot hunter? 😳 😳 🤔 Jeez, the first thing you see is a robot swan. I think you’ll like this one. Although, a little bit serious here; if you think it’s too long we can look for another one. I didn’t pay too much attention when I found it and checked out the number of episodes. 🙄 🙈 I was just satisfied to have found such a gem in a place like that and I had to show you.

I’ve been spending the last one and a half hour answering comments now. I need to write an award post someone 😉 gave me the other day. And maybe watch something so I can writer something bad. And then I should think about our project. (I have an idea actually) And try to read some posts. I am so bad at keeping up with posts and then I don’t follow too many blogs but still I can’t keep up. Take to account that I don’t read weekly reviews (or other reviews of stuff I haven’t seen unless they are spoiler free)

      11. Haha…I guess I did in some way. But erm…you are not kidding here about the fact that I like this one. And I love the old school vibe of it: it is so cool…the theme song alone is totally retro, and will stick in your head….for the entire day: just warning you of this in advance.
Well…I think I will able to manage it. I probably can watch an episode or 2 each day…and there are also weekends..so those 35 episodes must be manageable. Also: you did well! Really good choice: give yourself a compliment for it 😊😊
Oh god…oh no…an awards post. People actually hand out these things? Who would do that??? Haha: well, take your time: I thought you really deserve the award, because I am not even lying here: you bring a sunshine to me every day. So yeah: that’s why you deserve it.
Well..I totally understand what you mean. Especially on days where I might not be there for the entire day, or days where I hardly have any time: I really struggle with keeping up with things. Blogging is a lot of fun…but there are days that’s it’s pretty tough: don’t let yourself get overwhelmed though. It’s totally fine if you just take it easy for a day or two. Nobody will blame you for that at all 😊
Well..I’m going to finish the alien post..and then put it up, probable watch a few more episodes of Casshan…and do some reading for that RPG game type of thing. Why are Sundays always over before you know it??? Uggggghhhhhh…
Anyway: have a nice day!! 😊😊😊

      12. I fell asleep. 😳 I can’t stay awake when I watch Casshan. It’s not like I am tired when I start but somehow I can’t just keep my concentration high enough (or maybe I concentrate too much and my brain goes into hibernation becuase of the overload of mr robot heiling all the time.) I am not sure I can manage a whole series of this. Well, eventually but there is no way I can binge it. I’m sorry. 😔 I loved the idea of it, I love the op incredibly much and the dog is absolutely amazing (not to mention Casshan’s eyes, what is up with that ridiculous blue color? They are so blue it annoys me. 🤪 ). Anyway, I messaged you on Twitter…

        Liked by 1 person

      13. Haha…you want to hear something funny? I did as well 😂 I saw 8 episodes yesterday, and I do have to say that I quite love the series…but it was at times pretty difficult to keep my eyes open. Still I agree it’s fun…the dog is way too cool (that tank configuration is just so awesome)..and those blue eyes, well they pretty much look like mine…I also have quite blue eyes. That’s where the resemblance ends though: that Casshan guy is way prettier looking than me.
Aww really no need to apologise at all. I also have about 27 more episodes to go…and don’t know if I am able to make that either lol 😂
A message on Twitter huh? Okay…curious now…hmmm…two more comments from you to go I see. Let me get to those first, and then I wil head on to Twitter. (Ugh…why am I talking as if you are here…you probably won’t be reading this before tomorrow. Oh well…at least you might get a laugh in this way 😂😂)

      14. Blue eyes are pretty but his are too much. Maybe because he should be Japanese and he is way too no-Japanese. Idk, that sounds racist but i swear I don’t mean it like that. I’ve got blue eyes too. Like very blue eyes. But yeah.

But you saw 8 episodes, I saw 1 and a half and then I was out like a little baby! 😳 I like the robots and the way they behave. His underlings. And I need a dog like that.

        Liked by 1 person

      15. Haha…well yeah I guess they are a little bit too blue in the end. My eyes are blue, but not too blue I guess (wow, that was a lot of blue in one sentence lol 😂😂)
Haha..well I do think I am going to finish it eventually. It’s really been a truly fun show so far. And it gets even better. Also I have to say the show is pretty brutal too (spoiler alert: there is an episode where people get burned to death and eaten by swarms of electronic rats…that was quite horrid..and entertaining in a erm..sick kind of way 😂😂😂)

        Liked by 1 person

      16. Oh, maybe I should actually try to keep going then. Ugh, you are not making it easy for me with these series. Well, at least I have up on that other anime I suggested. I have started to watch it and it is awesome but I think we should keep to what we decided and go for 80-90 (or 70)

        Liked by 1 person

      17. Haha…well..sorry. I saw one episode more yesterday, but I again had trouble staying awake. It had nothing to do with the quality of the series self though….it was just me being tired (or being old..that could also be it 🤔🤔
I haven’t yet seen that other anime…but as I saw on Twitter that we are now going to be watching a movie, I don’t think I will start on it. Oh well…let me see if I can find some other show to make it even less easier….(evil laugh….😈😈😈😈)

    1. Hmmm…wow that sounds really kind of sad actually 😢 I’m sorry to hear that your kid is sick though, I hope it’s nothing to serious.
But Hmm…yeah that level of romance doesn’t really sound too romantic. Well look at it this way, my level of romance is currently lying in bed and watching tv…while sipping from a cup of tea. Trying to think of ways how that cup of tea can change into a girl..but no my mind draws a blank… 😭😭
But yeah…still…that kind of sucks for you. Hope you at least had a bit of a good day.

      1. Nah, that’s exactly what I mean. We are not romantic at all. So, don’t feel sad for me, I made my self some noodles instead. I don’t like romance, it’s just a waste of time on me. It’s like foreplay, it just annoys me, I want to get to the good part straight away. I don’t need the pretty wrapping on the chocolate box and the already dying flowers, I only want the chocolates inside the box.

You should buy yourself a bodypillow with some pretty lady. At least then you have someone to snuggle up against. Like this one. Even I could consider this actually… if I was allowed one in the bed. Apparently it isn’t suitable for a married woman in her 40s. I have no idea what people are talking about and I don’t agree at all. Give me my husbando to snuggle with.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Hmmm…yeah I guess honestly that I am a romantic at heart..but one could say a hopeless romantic 😂 But yeah….although I can also understand what you are saying. Sometimes it’s just nice to not go there..and go to the good stuff immediately.
Ooohhh…that is not such a bad idea. Hmmm these do look great though. Wonder if I will get any sleep in that way though? Would probably do a lot of staring and snuglling in that way 😊…Hmm maybe for you there is an Asta version of these? Just saying…….😏😇

      3. *hrm* It’s not at all as I wasn’t googling for it. I mean, there might have been some googling, but it wasn’t my intention at all, because you know, I can very well have been trying to find something like that, but you know Asta is kind of you.., FINE i did google for an Asta version. There wasn’t any that I could find. *sigh* Might be too early, it’s such a new series yet.

I actually think that I would rather change to Magna. He is more of a man but still has some Asta in him. A first rate delinquent. I like delinquents. Also, mohawk and awesome broom… thingie. Asta is our love baby. 😍

Haha..I KNEW it. Somehow I figured you would have lol. Well, as I am going to animecon later this year, at least I hope so…I will keep my eyes out for one for you. If there is one, I will buy it for you and sent it to you. (Probably wil get all sorts of stares thrown at me, but hey..I can live with that 😂😂😂😂)
Lol…don’t let Asta hear that you said that. He might get mad and lower his voice (as he always screams I think his full on rage mode probably has him lowering his voice 😂😂😂 )

      5. Oh man, I just realised… this is gonna blow your mind… what if… oh man, oh man…. what if *whispers* his magic suddenly appears if he just calms down and stops to scream and run around like an adhd kid. Like, if we give him some Adderall. Man, this is mindblowing. Medicate his adhd and he becomes the most powerful mage in Black Clover.

Oh yes, you better buy me one if you find one. I count on you! 😎

      6. Oohhhhh…that is mind blowing and definitely worth a try. Do you want me to give Asta a call and see if he is up for a little experiment? I’m sure he won’t find it any problem to do so right??? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I’m going to keep my eyes open, and I promise if there is anything there…I will buy it for you. I always keep my promises 😊😊

      7. Tell mommy told him to obey and there will be no problems what so ever. And if he by chance would protest tell him sister Mary will never marry him. Then there will definitely be no problems. 😎 I mean, the boy is stupid, he will never get how screwed he is and he will die before he gets this whole woman of the cloth thing. 🙄 😂

😘 I am telling you, you are the best guy in this universe. I am glad i got to know you. It is such a privilege. 😊 (also, are you gonna be my dealer in Asta goods now? 😱 )

      8. Haha..okay I will give him a call and tell him that. He probably won’t understand the consequences anyway…as you say the boy can be a little dense and quite stupid you know 🤔🤔🤔
Hmm…actually feeling sorry for Asta now…how in the world did that happen??
Aww really…what is this today..first I get this post written by Irina about me, than I see another post where I have yet to respond to by Arthifis saying all kinds of sweet and way too kind things about me…and then there is you. Just so you know, I will get back at all of you at some point 😈😈
Seriously though..I feel the same: you are really sweet (not to mention hilariously funny 😂) And I’m just very happy we met. It’s been, and is still being a blast 😊
Sure..I also deal in black market Asta stuff. Got all kinds of stuff and am open 24/7 so that’s convenient as well right?

      9. Nothing to feel sorry about Asta. He is oblivious to most everything and that is the best kind of life really. He’s happy go lucky, all he wants is to beat Yuno. So, don’t feel sorry for my baby.

Well, every word written about you was true you know. 😘 No need to get back at me though, I prefer to live in the shadows. Also, I had like 20+ notifications on Twitter when i woke up this morning so lets make that retaliation enough, yeah. I believe the whole community knows my name by now. 😱 (I still have an ache in my finger after liking everything. 😳 )

Oh, my own dealer… I like the sound of that. 😎

      10. Haha…well I had a momentary lapse of sense when I felt sorry for Asta. That usually happens when I get hit on the head, or when people start throwing a lot of compliments my way and I spent up the entire evening blushing like a lunatic.🙈🙈
Well…in case you were wondering or doubting that in any way: I also meant every word, so there is that😘
haha..Yeah..sorry about those notifications lol…but I just had to include you because seriously..those comments were too sweet to not include you. Besides: you need to get more famous. You totally deserve it..hmm..didn’t check your follower status yet..will do that later today😊
Haha…I have to go and get more Asta merchandise. You totally need that in your life 😎😎

  4. Awesome review! I was really blown away by this movie when I saw it in theaters. Like you said, I was expecting just another superhero movie and boy was I wrong. I will admit I was a little uncomfortable during the movie, but that is due to the fact that I had a 10 year old boy with his dad sitting behind me! (poor choice made by that father- they left 15 minutes into the movie- I am sure you can figure out which scene caused them to leave so quickly). I own the DVD, but haven’t watched it since seeing it in the theater, maybe I will watch it tonight when I get home from work.

Thanks for an awesome post :]

    1. Aww thanks so much for this very kind comment. Really appreciate it 😊😊
Haha..yeah I definitely understand which scene causes that lol 😂😂 Sometimes it really surprises me the choices that parents make for their kids. Maybe it’s just me, but I just think that’s seriously poor judgement.
This film though…boy did I have a blast with it. I had not seen it back since it’s release, and I think I even liked it more than the first time I saw it. It’s just amazingly funny and a great watch indeed.
If you are going to rewatch it I wish you a very pleasant rewatch and hope you will enjoy it just as much, or even more, than the first time 😊😊

    1. Thank you so much 😊 Yeah she (Morena Baccarin) has appeared in so many things since Firefly. Homeland, V, Gotham are just a few tv shows she played in. She is awesome as far as I’m concerned and a truly stunnigly beautiful woman 😊

      1. You’re welcome. I haven’t watched a ton of TV, but that’s good for her to be in so many big shows since Firefly. She’s certainly gorgeous, so no disagreement here. I also found out today that she was originally from Brazil of all places. I never would’ve guessed that.

  5. Hahaha this is the PERFECT Valentine’s movie, no sarcasm here. I went to see it with my boyfriend on Valentine’s Day 😂 And we invited all of our close friends to come along (some were couples, some were not). It was honestly the best Valentine’s I’d ever had. And it really was a great romance.
I mean, I don’t mind the cheese every once in a while but you can’t beat the guy who’ll do anything for his girl, including slice and dice people ❤️
I love Deadpool and I love Ryan and that movie was absolutely hilarious. Hands down, my favorite “superhero” movie ever. I went to watch it four more times in the same week and was still laughing at every joke and noticing something different every time. Though I understand some jokes might have been a bit less on point.
So yeah. I’m really excited for Deadpool 2!!!! I can’t wait and I’m sad it’s not releasing today 😢
    Amazing review, Michel! 😀

    1. Haha, that was such a wonderful story about how you first saw this movie. Strangely enough…I wasn’t kidding either. Underneath all the comedy, the gory fights and the f-bombs, there really was a great lovestory. And that did form the basic things that made this movie work so well. That and ofcourse the absolutely and totally crazy antics of the character of Deadpool himself lol 😂😂
No matter what comedy you watch..not every joke works, and I accept that. But that said, pretty much all the jokes worked here though 😊😊
Thanks for this great comment and I share your excitement and sadness for the sequel. It can’t come soon enough for me either 😊😊

  6. This movie!!! ❤❤ Gosh I love it so much! Deadpool is such a wonderful anti hero. This movie is also definitely a Valentine’s film, no doubt about it! I applaud men who believe in romance, subtle romance of course. Such as kind words, hugs and kisses, a surprise gift or anything they know makes you smile!
I remember watching Deadpool in theatres and he made this joke; “Stewart or McAvoy”.
Me and some random guy in the theatre were the only ones who laughed. I reckon a lot of people watched it because it was so hyped instead of being a fan.
But I think this movie made lots of people Marvel fans or at least Deadpool fans. This movie is fun to watch with everyone (okay maybe not young…children) but especially for people who initially think its only a typical action movie.
Once again…great review! Deadpool, YAY! 🤗

    1. Haha…I could not agree more with you. I wanted to learn more about the character before seeing the film so I bough a big stack of comic books and they were so awesome. Everything you see in the movie..also happens a lot in the comics. The talking to readers is one of those highlights 😂😂
The Stewart/mcAvoy joke had me laughing a lot too 😂😂
Excactly spot on..this was so unlike any previous Marvel movie..that is was a film that even antisuperhero fans could appreciate 😊😊
I had a blast rewatching this one…and yes..that sequel can’t arrive soon enough for me 😂😂
Thanks for your awesome comment 😊😊

  7. Deadpool, a romance movie! Now this is a romance movie, I’d be willing to watch 😀 (Not a big fan of the romance genre). I like your way of thinking 🙂
This is a very nice Valentine’s Day review. Deadpool would definitely make a nice change from the usual cheesy romance movies, watched on Valentine’s Day 🙂

    1. Haha…I’m not a big fan of romance movies either. One noteworthy exception was Titanic…but that’s about it 😊😊
The fun thing is..I wasn’t kidding. There really is a great romance story in this film…but it’s masked so well by the comedy and violence, that it’s unlike any romance movie that you will ever see lol 😂😂
I hope you will have as much of a laugh at this as I have had 😂😂

      1. Completely agree, Titanic is a great movie and is one of few exception, when it comes to romance movies 🙂

Hahaha…. I wasn’t kidding either. I would much rather watch Deadpool, than the typical run-of-the-mill romance film hehe XD

  8. Great review.. I absolutely LOVE Deadpool. I think I have watched this movie about 10 times by now and this sh#t just never gets old, tooo freaking funny! 😀 Reynolds does a good job of it all and I can’t wait to see Deadpool 2..

A few nights ago I watched The Hitman’s Bodyguard – I really only picked the film up because Reynolds was in it, and Samuel L jackson and I knew it had to be another one of those ‘funny ones’- did not disappoint 😀 not as good as Deadpool, of course but not too bad to spend an hour and bit of time with 🙂

    1. Thank you…I absolutely loved this film too. It was hilarious and I have laughed so many times that I lost count lol 😂😂
It was great to see it again..and you are right this sh#t does never get old. I’m hoping the sequel doesn’t ruin it…but I’m thinking it probably won’t.
The Hitman’s Bodyguard is still in my to watch list. I hope to see it this year at some point. I didn’t really expect it to be as good as Deadpool.(that would be almost impossible lol). But it’s nice to know that it is a fun watch 😊😊

  9. Deadpool is a FANTASTIC Valentine’s day movie!! Love and gore?? It’s good for EVERYONE!! I was honestly a little worried when Ryan Reynolds got cast as deadpool as I am a big deadpool fan and didn’t know if he could pull it off… But, pool he did. Bravo, Ryan. Bravo. I was very proud to hear that at the end of the filming he walked off the set wearing the suit and said ‘I’m keeping this’ lol!

  10. I do love a good violin solo though (no pun intended)! 🤣🤣 I’m glad to hear how much you enjoyed this one. I too loved it when I saw it and had a really good laugh when I saw it in theaters. What really made this work for me is how it was different in style to the other movies and was so cruel on so many levels. It does have a pretty simple origin story and the villain isn’t the biggest baddest thing in the world, but the point of the movie was far from being in that category. I sure can’t wait to see its sequel though. I wanna see if it’ll be able to repeat the exploit or feel like a deja-vu, a one trick pony type of thing. Great review as always sir! 😀

    1. Haha..thank you (I can still hear those violins in my head lol 😂😂).
You are so right though. This movie was so completely different from all the others that came before it. But it also really managed to capture the essence of the character from the comic books in a very good way 😊
I’m hoping the sequel will be just as much fun, but from what I have seen of it so far in the trailers, I’m thinking it will be. And as it also contains the awesome character of Cable it will hopefully be even better.
Thanks once again for your wonderful comment 😊

  11. This was a fun movie, though I have to say I read a lot of Deadpool a few years back an got a little bit bored of the character. Fortunately a few years break allowed me to enjoy this movie, perhaps not as much as everyone else as it was more or less what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. For me the jokes about the X Men they could afford, Angel of the Morning, and Deadpool’s friend Bob (aka Hydra Bob, aka AIM Bob etc etc) showing up were high points.

    1. I think that is pretty much the case with very comic book character. Too much of a good thing is…wel too much I guess. Still this film though…all the things you mentioned they were the best for me as well. Especiallu that joke about the X-men. And the funny thing is that it wa probably the truth as well, which made it even funnier 😂😂

  12. This definitely qualifies as a V Day movie! Hilarious, crazy, and somewhat romantic. Besides, Ryan Reynolds just makes every franchise infinitely better. I’m so excited for Deadpool 2. Great post by the way, really enjoyed reading this! 😊

    1. Haha…yeah I thought it would be fun to do a reviews for a movie that just isn’t your standard Valentine movie. And so true…it was a brilliant film. Ryan just simply is this character..no two ways about it. Let’s hope the sequel will be just as good. Thanks for the kind words..glad you enjoyed the read 😊😊

  13. If Die Hard is classed as an Xmas movie I guess you can brand Deadpool as a Valentine film haha. Thank goodness that they did the character justice, after butchering him in Wolverine Origins. Deadpool is hilarious and it’s nice that they didn’t sugar coat the violence.

    1. Haha…so true. Ugh..Die Hard. I haven’t seen that film in ages. I’m guessing that later this year I will have an action movie theme month. So…will defintely feature Die Hard on that.
But back to Deadpool. Oh yeah…wow did they do him completely wrong in Wolverine. That was just so stupid. Here though..perfection. Probably one of the best comic book character adaptations ever 😊 And now we have to wait and see what the sequel is going to bring. But with Cable in it….you just can’t go wrong…erm…I hope 😅😅

As for Deadpool…he is so completely crazy, but just so funny. The comics if you have never read them are also a blast, and I totally know that you would love them too.
Haha..yeah I figured I would choose a bit of a different Valentine’s film…I’m glad you liked it so much 😘❤️

    1. Haha…😂😂 Well I can understand that. Honestly the Deadpool in the movie is exactly like the Deadpool in the comics. He also speaks to the audience in the books…and he did that in the film as well. I really am a huge fan of the comics…so that’s why I liked the film so much. But…that said, if certainly can understand how this film won’t be for everyone 😊😊

  15. haha I wonder if it’s cos I’m single too (*cue violins*) that this seems like the perfect Valentines Day movie! 😂😂 Or maybe it’s just cos it’s a damn good movie! I absolutely loved how it played on the superhero genre and it was so funny!! And yeah that makes sense about comedy. And you’re right, plenty of girls like films like this (gosh yes to Titanic though- I’ve seen that film *so many times* and it never gets old!) Hope you had a good day!

It really was so much fun, and I think it will never get old, that’s for sure. I can’t wait to see the sequel. Hopefully it will be just as good.
As for Titanic….I probably will watch it somewhere this year again as it’s been ages since I last saw it. It will never get old. 😊😊
Well..for me it was just a normal day lol. I hope you had a good day yourself as well.😊

This really was a completely crazy, over the top, but an enormously fun and slightly romantic film too.
It was not your run of the mill superhero movie that is for sure 😀
I loved it too 😀 Thank you again!

  17. I agree with you here. This was one of the most unique superhero movies that I have seen. I am pretty excited to see the sequel. This post actually reminds me of a post I did on Spiderman and love. Anyways no matter how much Deadpool might deny it, this is definiteky a very unique romance movie!

    1. Haha..lol…yeah he might definitely deny it quite a lot himself (and will probably confirm it again a few minutes later lol 😂😂).
It is a really fun film…one that I pretty much had zero expectations for, and ended up just being totally awesome.
I really hope that the sequel is going to be just as much fun as this one. As it also features one of my all time favorite Marvel heroes (Cable) I am highly looking forward to it! 😀😀

    1. Haha: yeah me too. I had not seen it myself in quite a while either. And seeing as I was looking for something to write a Valentine’s post about, this seemed to be the best bet 😊 As it was just something completely different 😂
