February’s Theme Reveal: Science Fiction & Horror movies

Helly everyone! As we are about halfway through the month of January, it’s time to reveal the upcoming theme for next month. As mentioned in my plans for this year, every month my blog will be focussing on a different theme, that will get just a little bit more attention than all the other stuff. And as you can see above in the big black capital letters that are kind of hard to miss, next month the theme will be Science Fiction and Horrormovies. So why reveal this now, and not wait until the end of the month? Well, because this time I’m going to ask you for a bit of help. No it’s nothing serious, you don’t need to do any heavy lifting or homework. So what am I asking exactly?

The help question and the rules.

image
There are rules for this? Are you kidding me here?

Next month I want to do at least four reviews for movies that are suggested by you the readers. Yes you! So how exactly does this work?

  • Leave a comment down below in this post for one or two movies that you would like me to watch and do a review for
  • It has to be a science fiction and/or horrormovie
  • It can be either an animated or live action movie, as long as it is in one of the categories that I mentioned
  • You can leave a comment with your suggestions until the 25th of January
  • I will then use a random number generator to pick four movies, two for each category
  • The movies that are going to be reviewed will be revealed on the first post for February
  • The bloggers whose choices got picked will get an honorable mention on my blog

Pretty simple and straightforward huh? I hope you will provide me with a few good suggestions, and of course thank you for the help. Looking forward to seeing what everyone is going to come up with!

    1. Haha: well, it’s the first time I’m. Doing themes this year, so I’m trying to find out if this is working. But so far I’m having fun with it 😀
Great suggestions! I already reviewed Event Horizon last year, but the other two I have added to the list. At the end of the month we will see if they are going to win😀 Thanks for these 😊

    1. Nice! Thanks for the suggestion. It’s one that has been on my list for ages, but haven’t seen yet 😀😀 Well, I have added it to the list: we’ll see if it is going to win next month. Thanks again 😊😊

    1. Haha 😀Thank so much, and thanks for these suggestions: adding them to the list (only two though lol else it would be unfair to the rest of the readers 😉). Are there any of these that you have a preference for?
All of them are great by the way, so really thank you for this 😀😀

      1. Haha:really not a problem at all! I love your enthusiasm, so no apologies are necessary. These two are great suggestions, so I’m adding them to the lost. In February we are going to find out who will win 😀 Thanks again, appreciate it 😊😊

      1. Oh, nice I have bought 10 Cloverfield Lane, but haven’t seen it yet. So cool! As for Final Destination, I have already done a review for that one last year (well…the first one that is 😉). I can do a review for any of the other 4, or if you have another suggestion that’s also cool (if your suggestions are going to win ofcourse). Thanks for these already in advance 😀

      2. Haha: cool power to have : being psychic 😊 No I haven’t….also a great classic!.
Adding that one to the list. We’ll see who will win February. Thanks for your suggestions 😀😀

  1. Yay Sci-Fi and Horror.
I’d have to echo the request for Dark City. Though something a bit sillier like Ultraviolet could be fun.
Though, honestly anything in these genres will be great to read. Looking forward to it.

    1. Oooh….two for Dark City now. I haven’t seen that one in ages, so who knows maybe it wil; win 😀😀
Ultraviolet was fun!! Also a movie that I saw years ago, and as you say : silly, but still very enjoyable. And Mila was awesome in this one 😀😀
Glad you like the theme: though you will probably like the theme for March even more 😉😉

    1. Ahh Vinnieh my friend I was waiting for your comment to see what you would come up with (no joke, really was looking forward to your comment). Cool choices for sure. Both are added to the list, and in February we are going to see which ones are going to make it 😀 Thanks so much for your comment and the kind words as always 😉😉

      1. I know, the cast, including Owen Wilson and Catherine Zeta-Jones, could do nothing to save the lacklustre remake. I don’t know why there even was a remake because The Haunting is such a psychological classic.

  2. Horror, nice one. My favourite genre 🙂
Right, time to give you some suggestions:
28 Days Later (one of my fav zombie films)
Insidious: Chapter 3 (because its one of the few horror films, that actual scares the plops out of me. Shamefully, I watched it in the cinema and end up like scooby-doo. Clinging to my friend for dear life) 😀

    1. Nice indeed! I love 28 days later. It is such a good film, and it really has been quite a while since I last saw that movie. So…great choice!
Insidious chapter 3 huh? That’s an interesting choice. I have seen it, and I know that I quite liked it, but I can’t remember much about it. So, very cool.
Let’s see what is going to happen in February and which movies are going to make the cut. Thanks for your comment 😀😀

  3. Yay thematic posts!! Can you tell I’m super excited because I love thematic posts? 😀 Because I love thematic posts. Have I mentioned it?
Darn, I don’t know many sci-fi or horror movies… And those I know I think you’ve already reviewed… Hmm… How about The Arrival? (Strangest movie I’ve ever seen) And as for horror, Get Out? I’m a huge Key and Peele fan and when I found out he was directing a horror movie I was shook. Literally.
Anyway, sorry if you’ve already done any of these!
On another note, I recently found out Science Fiction Day was on the 2nd of January. I was sooo bummed because I would love to have used it to review something sci-fiey. But oh well, it’s gone now xD
Best of luck with February, friend! 🙂

    1. Haha: I can definitely tell you are excited: and I love that, so thank you for your enthusiasm. I have both not seen the films nor have I reviewed them. And both films were already on my to watch list anyway, so great choices! 😊I’m adding them to the list, so in February we will find out if these two or one of them will make it to the collection. Thanks! I totally missed sci-fi day myself. Oh well, there is always next year 😂😂

    1. Great choices. I haven’t seen the original It in ages, and Oblivion was a really underrated sci-fi gem in my opinion. Thanks for your comment and your choices. Both will be added to the list: let’s see if they are going to win in February 😀😀

    1. Cool! Moon has been on my to watch list for ages. And A Ghost story has had my interest ever since I first saw a review for it. So: both are great choices😀 Thanks, I will be adding them to the list (that is growing quickly which is awesome), and we will see which movies will be selected in February 😀😀

    1. Wow: these are great! I have seen both versions and I totally agree that these are great movies. It follows I haven’t seen yet, but I have heard great things about it. Awesome!. They are both on the list now, and in February I will reveal which movies will be selected! 😀😀 Thanks! 😀

    1. Cool: I haven’t seen that one in ages. Besides knowing that I quite liked it at the time, I can’t really remember much about it. So: we’ll see if this one will make it to the selection in February. Thanks for your suggestion 😀

  4. Its a very risky thing to do, to trust that people will give you good movies. Hehehe…I could very well put in some that are truly bad XD. Of course I won’t do that though. I’ll put in Metropolis (1927 Fritz Lang version) and Battle Royale. If you get them I hope you enjoy them!

    1. Haha: no risk without rewards, isn’t that hw the saying goes lol 😂😂 And I do love truly bad movies from time to time as well 😂😂
These are some great suggestions though: thanks for these! Adding them to the list, and we will see if they are going to win in February 😀😀

  5. Another great choice for next months theme! Not much into the horror side, but definitely like sci-fi. But I guess it turns out I don’t know that many sci-fi movies. Mostly the bigger ones and ones that have already been mentioned. Ah well, lol

    1. Haha: no problem. I’m looking forward to seeing which ones are going to make the selection. There are already a couple of great suggestions, so whatever the outcome will be, I have some cool movies to look forward to😀😀

  6. Ooh yay sci fi!! I’m excited to see your choices and I love how you’re doing this… but unfortunately I don’t watch many movies in this genre (well I don’t watch any horror) so I’m going to leave this up to more knowledgeable commenters! Looking forward to seeing what you end up watching 🙂

  7. Letting your readers / chance decide the movies is inspired, and BOLD! Event Horizon first came to my mind, since it combines both genres, but I know you already wrote about that. (Btw I still haven’t watched! Arggh). I like “Pitch Black,” as someone else suggested, for the same reason.

Hmm.. my contributions shall be: 1) Mr. Nobody (2009) or 2) Predestination (2014). Both films honor the notions of chance, free will / determinism, which this post got me thinking about.

    1. Haha, I really wanted to do some interactive stuff this year, and this seemed like a fun idea. I’m glad you like it, and ofcourse thank you for participating 😀😀
As for your choices: I already reviewed Predestination: that was an absolutely amazing film: really unique and terrific storyline 😊
Mr Nobody I’m adding to the list 😊😊 Do you have a second (other) choice?

      Like

    1. Ooh…nice choices, but you can only choose two (sorry, sorry, those are the rules 🙈🙈). But I will mesje it easier for you to select which ones: I have already reviewed both Event Horizon and Predator 😀😀
So three films remain 😀 Which ones would you like me to add to the list, and thank you for these suggestions 😀

      1. Haha: really no worries Dani. Kim cheated as well lol 😂😂
These are both added to the list. I am very excited to find out which movies are going to make the cut 😊😊 Thanks for these suggestions 😀😀

    1. Thank you 😊😊 Both of these are unknown to me, but I will be adding them to the list. Always interesting to see and find out about something new😀 Thanks for the suggestions. We will find out if they get selected in February 😊

    1. Haha, really no problem at all 😊 I follow a lot of blogs myself as well, and I try to keep up with everything as much as I can, but I am sure I miss a few post myself from time to time.
Thank you. And thanks for the suggestions: a classic (which is awesome ) and a horrormovie that I have heard a lot about. I’m looking forward to seeing which movies are going to be selected in February (the faiths, that is a random number generator lol, will decide 😊😊).

  8. Cool idea! 🙂
I don’t know much about scifi and horror generally doesn’t scare me.. but… if you haven’t already done SAW that would be interesting ( PS- I watched all films of SAW in a row one day off work and I was f*ck’d up after that 😀 ) and how about The Blair Witch Project?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thank you! 😀😀
I did a review for Saw last year together with Jigsaw. I could do a review for either of the other parts (2-7), so let me know which one you would like me to add to the list.
The Blair Witch Project! 😍😍 Awesome suggestion. It’s on the list. Now we have to wait to see if it is going to make it in February. Thanks for the suggestion! 😀😀

    1. I have watched the John Carpenter movie, but I haven’t seen the 1951 version. This is a very interesting choice to say the least. Thanks for the suggestion! I’m adding it to the list, and who knows, it might just get selected by the random number generator in February 😀😀

    1. That movie has been on my to watch list for a very long time. And as Denis Villeneuve is one of my favorite directors, I’m looking forward to seeing it. Let’s see if the fates (or in other words the random number generator lol) will decide if it gets selected in February 😀😀

  9. I’ll being paying close attention to your reviews. My two favourite film genres so always looking for inspiration.

The only films that leap out at me as awesome and worthy of reviews have already been reviewed by you (Event Horizon, Predator etc …)

I’ll just look forward to what you get around to watching 😊

  10. This is a cool/fun post 😀
I had to really try my hardest to narrow it down, but finally:
    Horror:
Pet Cemetery (if you haven’t reviewed it yet- can’t remember for sure) or Jeeper’s Creepers (if you have done Pet Cemetery)

    Sci-fi:
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Haha thank you! I’m glad you liked it 😊😊
Nope, I haven’t done Pet Cemetary yet, so that is a very good choice indeed 😀😀
As for The Girl Who Leapt through time, I have done a review for that one. Do you have a second choice for the science fiction movie?
      Thanks for these suggestions 😀😀

      1. 😂😂 I just found and read it. Love your review! I’m happy you got to watch review it, and even more glad you loved it too 😊 I’m suprised I didn’t see it with how recent it is, but then again I was away for awhile lol.

Hmm…second choice for sci-fi…have you watched Patema Inverted (Sakasama no Patema)?

Glad you enjoyed the post though. It really was an amazing film, and one I enjoyed very much.
As for Patema Inverted. No I haven’t😊 So, great choice, just looked it up, and it looks pretty cool. Adding it to the list, and then I guess we have to wait and see if the random number selector is going to select it 😊😊

    1. Of course you can: welcome to my blog, and thanks for the great suggestions. As for The Witch, I have already done a review for that one. Do you have second choice? 😀
And Eden Lake: wow….what a movie that was…seriously great 😊😊 That one will be added to the list, and if you have another choice instead of the Witch, let me know. Thank you again 😊😊
