Well, it’s that season to be jolly. In other words Christmas is almost upon us. Tomorrow a lot of people around the world are going to be spending this holiday in a variety of ways. I always love Christmas despite the fact that I also get a bit melancholy around this time of year. I tend to reflect on the things that have happened the past few months, and besides the good stuff there is also the inevitable bad stuff. But I’m not going to be turning this into a depressing post but rather one that will hopefully put you in the Christmas spirit a bit. We all of course have our favorite Christmas movies, and you have probably noticed quite a number of these being shown on a variety of other blogs these past few days. But instead of focussing on movies, I wanted to do something a bit different and focus on the small screen instead. There are a lot of television series that have had some kind of Christmas episode in them, and I thought I would showcase a couple of them here. Minor spoilers are ahead, so you have been warned. Okay, in no particular order lets see what Santa has in store here….
Robotech: Episode 35, Season’s Greetings
Robotech is an animated series that is composed of three unrelated Japanese anime, that were combined in America into one show. It is a terrific science fiction series that I have been a fan of for more than 30 years now. Robotech featured a really beautiful Christmas episode. In it, one of the show’s main villains the maniacal Khyron, unleashes a devastasting attack on Christmas eve, in an attempt to demoralise the human race. But instead of losing hope, the survivors band together and start to sing Silent Night. It is a very powerful moment, and one that really shows that one should never lose hope, no matter how bleak things might get.
Knight Rider: Episode 211, Silent Knight
Who doesn’t remember Knight Rider? The 80’s, The Hoff and a talking car called K.I.T.T. It really doesn’t get any better than this. In the second season Knight Rider got into the Christmas spirit with the Episode Silent Knight. Michael is on his way to the annual Foundation Christmas banquet, when he runs into a gypsy kid called Tino. He is unaware that Tino has stolen a gold watch from a trio of bankrobbers that are now hot on his trail, as they are afraid he might indentify them. Well, this one was certainly entertaining and a bit of goofy fun. And of course this being a Christmas episode, everything eventually works out.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Episode 310, Amends
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a highly succesful television series created by Joss Whedon (Yes that guy again). It starred Sarah Michelle Gellar in the titular role, playing a young highschool girl that was the Chosen One with the power to fight vampires and other things that bump in the night. Her great love was the vampire with a soul, Angel. In this really warm and beautiful Christmas episode, Angel is haunted by terrible visions of his past where he was still the evil vampire Angelus. He hears that the only way to get rid of these visions is by killing Buffy. Angel can’t bring himself to do this, and prepares to sacrifice himself by waiting for the sun to rise and burn him to a crisp. But the sun never comes, instead it begins to snow and Angel and Buffy enjoy each other’s company walking through Winter Wonderland. Awwww………
Bones: Episode 309, The Santa in the Slush
Bones was a really fun C.S.I. type show where the forensic doctor Brennan teamed up with F.B.I. special agent Booth to solve a variety of crimes. Where C.S.I. was very serious for most of the time, Bones usually threw a great amount of humor into it’s episodes that distinguished it from the rest. In this really fun Christmas episode Brennan and Booth investigate the death of a Santa Claus that was found near the sewers of a mall. One of the funniest scenes of this episode is when their investigation leads them to a “Rent-A-Santa” business where they have to interview a bunch of Santas. And of course another great scene is where Booth and Brennan end up beneath a mistletoe. Yes, you can say it again: Awwwwwwwwww.
Supernatural: Episode 308, A very Supernatural Christmas
Ah, Supernatural. Such an incredibly fun show. One could almost say that this is the Buffy of our time and you would not be very far of the mark either. Now entering it’s 13th season, the show tells the story of the two brothers Sam and Dean Winchester. Both of them have been raised by their father as “Hunters” to fight supernatural evil ranging from demons, spirits and pretty much every other horrible entity you can think of. Supernatural did it’s own version of a Christmas episode in season 3. The two brothers investigate a series of grissly murders where victims get pulled up through the chimney. Their search leads them to a kind of Anti-Santa, who is actually an ancient demon. This episode has a number of great scenes especially the one where the two brothers exchange Christmas gifts.
Chicago Fire: Episode 110, Merry Christmas, Etc.
Chicago Fire is one of my favorite binge worthy shows. We follow the lives of the brave men and women of the Chicago firedepartment, as they go about their daily routines. Featuring very memorable characters and high octane action and danger, trust me when I say that once you start out with this series you can’t stop. In this Christmas episode a few of the firefighters get accused of stealing a high value necklace after putting out a kitchen fire. I have to be honest that while there are some Christmas activities in the background, this is the only episode on this list that won’t really give you that warm Christmas feeling. But that’s okay, as it’s still a fun and exciting watch.
Merry Christmas!
This list could go on forever, as there are so many great TV series over the years that have done Christmas episodes. But it has to end somewhere, and these were certainly a few of my favorites. Most of you will probably spent the upcoming days celebrating Christmas, as I am going to be doing myself as well. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of my readers a very Merry Christmas. All of you are amazing, and this blog certainly would not be the same without your continued support and kindness that all of you have shown me. Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas I hope the upcoming days will be fun for you as well. As always thank you for reading, and see you at the next post!
More Buffy and Angel moments please.
Merry Christmas and I hope you have a great day tomorrow.

Haha, writing this post actually makes me want to rewatch the entire series. It’s been an awfully long time since I last saw it, but it was such s great show 😊 And I agree Buffy abd Angel moments were the best!
Thank you 😀 I hope you will have a wonderful day as well 😉

Okay seriously this comment just sent a chill down my spine 😀 I could actually hear Khyron’s voice saying this! That scene was so very memorable. Wow, so cool. Always nice to see a fellow Robotech fan…it just gets in your blood or something, I don’t know 😉

Of all of these I’ve only seen Buffy, which is one of my all time favourite TV shows. I always preferred Spike to Angel though 😊.

There was always a great rivalry between those two. Spike certainly was a lot of fun as well. Angel was always the more serious of the two. But so true, Buffy was an amazing series. I wish that they would bring it back in some form 😊

I don’t think it would be the same without SMG et al.

No that’s certainly true (I had to think for a moment, as I thought you were talking about the rivalry between Angel and Spike and them using SubMachineGuns on each other lol 😂😂, but then I realised you were talking about Sarah Michelle Gellar😊).
Well, who knows it might happen, there has already been an X-files and Twin Peaks revival, this could be done as well. But you are right, without SMG it would be pointless.

Well I hope they will just ignore the comics then… cause otherwise we have a few problems… Buffy and Angel not getting together aka Buffy not becoming a fully baked cookie will be one of those things for which I will always hate Joss a bit…then again I love him so much… That man has way too much leeway in my case.
Great post and Happy Holidays!

Haha, I haven’t read the Buffy comics (but I did read the Angel comics, as that series ended on a serious cliffhanger 😂😂), but yeah Joss is great, and sometimes he really isn’t 😉 But I doubt the series getting a second life, as much as I would want it. But sometimes miracles do happen 😊
Glad you enjoyed the post, and thank you for your kind words 😊 I hope you will have some very Happy Holidays yourself, enjoy them 😀

I like x-mass episodes and x-mass specials. I think Christmas became more cultural happening connected with tree and snow than religious celebration.
santa’s look created by coke and whole this commercial dimension makes it more about who will give a better gift, but I still like it, it’s still nice time 🙂
I guess weather in Holland is similar as in Poland, so
Merry Christmas and let it rain, let it rain, let it rain… 😉

Yes, Christmas has certainly changed a lot over the years that is for sure and not always in the best way. But like you said, I still like it quite a lot. And yes you ate correct: it’s really bad weather here, but honestly that’s fine for Christmas. Hope you will have fun the upcoming days: enjoy it 😀

Haha, and I really enjoyed reading your very enthusiastic comment. Thank you for that 😀 Buffy is still one of my alltime favorite episodes, it was seriously amazing, fun, heartbreaking and scary all at the same time.
I think Supernatural is a very worthy successor to it. No worries, I have about 8 seasons more to watch myself, so am very far behind on it as well 😊
Thanks again for your great comment and Merry Christmas! 😀

I love Christmas theme episodes, really holiday themed episodes in general. One of my faves is a Simpson’s one from the classic era. Where Homer has to shop on a budget because he didn’t get his Christmas bonus. Such a simple but sad but overall heartwarming episode.

The Simpsons had so many great Christmas episodes that it’s hard to pick a favorite, but I definitely remember that one as one of my favorites. Exactly as you say, it was simple but in that way it was also very effective. Truly a very nove abd beautiful episode that manages to get you in the holiday spirits in a very good way 😀

A fun list for Christmas! I definitely have lots of tv Christmas episodes I love. Mostly from sitcoms like Full House and Home Improvement. Also particularly love a couple of the The Little House on the Prairie eps. Too many good ones for sure 🙂 Merry Christmas!

My favorite TV Christmas episode is an episode of Frasier where he pretends to be Jewish on Christmas Eve for his new girlfriend’s mother.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I haven’t seen that one, so I will add it to my list to check out at some point next year. Well this list is by no means complete. The number of Christmas tv episodes is just incredible. It ranges near a 1000 😮😮😮

Wow, Michel. Honestly, I love the idea of this post. But what amazes me most is how you even managed to remember and find these exact episodes! I do love how there are shows that follow our calendar and have these special Christmas specials (ha!). 😛 I haven’t seen any of these shows though, but I did want to try Bones someday! Is the show still going strong? Always good or has its ups and downs? 😮
P.S. I hope you had a fantastic Christmas and made the most of your Holiday (although we’re just in the middle of it). I’m actually super glad to be following you in your blogging endeavors and hope that with 2018 we’ll get to know each other more through the things we enjoyed watching/reading. 🙂 HAPPY NEW YEAR, SIR!

Aww man, seriously thanks so much for these very kind words. It really means a lot. It has been a blast following your blog as well (even though my to read list keeps expanding because of that lol 😂😂). Seriously though, looking forward to talking more next year too. Can’t wait!
I had a really great Christmas, thank you for asking, I hope yours was good as well?
Well…honestly I just watch way too much television at times😂 But these were certainly the Christmas episodes that for me were the most fun. Bones has now stopped airing after a pretty impressive 12 season run. It is a fun show which, like pretty much every show, has had it’s ups and downs. Overall though, it is a series that I always enjoyed very much, so it’s well worth the watch.
Thanks again for the fantastic comment, and I wish you and your loved ones a very happy new year as well 😊

Hahaahh, I can indeed be pretty bad for people’s read list! 😛 It can also be a great thing if everything that piques your interest turns out to be amazing when you get around to them! Oh yes, it was a great snowy day. I don’t literally celebrate it, but I do love the vibe of those days. 😀

Buffy is definitely one of my alltime favorite tv series. I love that show, and am truly thinking about maybe giving it a rewatch at some point.
I hope you will have an amazing New Year’s Eve. Enjoy it, and all the best for 2018.
