Hello all! I hope you had a wonderful Halloween, and didn’t get abducted by some kind of monster or serial killer with a bloody knife. Now, with that cheerful opening out of the way, can you believe it’s November already? Just two more months and we have reached the end of this abysmal year, and I think we all can’t wait to finally put this one behind us. That said, as it’s a new month, this also means it’s time to kick off the first of my theme months, that I introduced with this post. What do you mean you missed that one?!? Sigh, okay I will explain it briefly one more time. In a theme month I will spending a little bit more time than usual on a certain topic that my blog covers. And well, the title gave it away already, in November that means I’m going to give you a lot of anime. How much, and exactly what am I going to cover? Glad you asked, let me please enlighten you.
Movies
Weathering with you
Weathering with you is a movie that I’m looking forward to quite a lot. It’s made by the people behind the amazing Your Name (a movie that I shamefully haven’t reviewed yet). I expect top notch animation, and another storyline that’s going to tug at the hearstrings.
My Neighbor Totoro
I think we all have some classic movies that we have always wanted to see, but for some reason have never been able to watch. My Neighbor Totoro is one of those for me. Made by the incredible Hayao Miyazaki, I already know I’m going to love this film unless I’m really mistaking.
Series
Terror in Resonance
A series that has been on my to watchlist forever (not to mention gathering dust on my shelf), I’m finally going to get to this. I’ve also read and seen some very mixed responses to this anime, so I’m honestly wondering which side I’m going to end up on.
Witchblade
Witchblade is based on a comic book series that I really loved. I had no idea there was an anime for this one, until I came across the dvd box at Animecon . It looks like it’s going to be an action oriented series, that might contain a lot of fanservice, but I’m pretty curious if they are able to capture the spirit of the comic book.
Natsume’s Book of Friends, season 1
I had two choices left. One was Re: Zero season 1, the other was Natsume’s Book of Friend’s first season. Well, you can see which of those won. That’s also because I have promised Irina to watch and review this one for so long now, that I just simply could not bring myself to break that promise again.
Reader’s Choice
I have saved the best for last, as now the last addition to the Anime month line up will be decided by…you, the readers! I have selected a few animes to choose from, and not surprisingly the one with the most number of votes will be the final entry of this month! I will be revealing that show on the last weekend of November. Simply cast your vote using the form below. So I hope you approve of the choices I made, and I think a few of them might be a suprise. Rest assured that those of you that aren’t into anime won’t be left out. I will still be writing about other stuff as well in November! Well, let’s talk! Which of these are you looking forward to? Have you seen any of these? Let me know in the comments, and I will see you all at the next post!
Update: I had some trouble getting the poll to work (not a tech wizard), but it seems to be up and running now finally! Feel free to also leave your choice in the comments section if you want.
Terror in Resonance is just so good. I’m also unfathomably obsessed with Natsume’s Book of Friends too haha. Sounds like a great anime month! Looking forward to your thoughts on these. 🙂

Haha. Well I just started with Natsume’s book of friends yesterday and so far I’m really enjoying it quite a lot! Finally got the poll working by the way, took me four updates, so there is that haha! 😂😂
Thanks for you comment, and definitely looking forward to it myself!😀

I started blood of Zeus on Netflix. It’s so good 😊

I’ve seen a few trailers for that one and it definitely looks good! It’s on my list for sure! 😀😀

I think you’re going to really enjoy Totoro. It’s a wonderfully relaxing movie to watch.
Did you use the poll block for the poll? I haven’t played around with that yet but at some point I’m sure I will. I like polls 😀
LikeLiked by 1 person
It’s a movie that’s been on my to watch list for so long now, that I’m absolutely itching to finally watch that one! 😊😊
I used it: but for some reason I couldn’t get the results to work. So I created a new poll from scratch using a link, and that one works, as now at least I can see the results, so that’s good😊 Honestly that was really easy to use, so if you need help with that let me know😊
(the poll block should be very easy to use as well, so I just don’t understand how I couldn’t get the results. Oh well, I’m no techwizard as I said, so there is that😅😅🙈🙈)

I voted for Kino’s Journey. I own it 😀

Nice, it’s currently in the lead with two votes, but that’s not saying much I guess as so far only two people have voted haha😂
But yeah, heard some good things about it, so if that one turns out to be the one to watch I won’t be complaining!😊

I voted. God knows why as I haven’t a clue but Lost Village sounds nice. 🤣

Haha, thanks for voting! 😀 Lost Village is about a mysterious village where one can supposedly start over and live a new perfect life. It’s got a supernatural edge to it, and I liked the sound of it myself😀 We will see how the poll will turn out! 😀

Based on your description,I’m voting for Lost Village too. And, I watched the first episode of Blood of Zeus and quite liked it.

Thanks for the vote Kim! It’s going strong that one, so who knows, it might even turn up to be the winner😊
Blood of Zeus has definitely been added to my list already, but as I’m running behind with so many things it will probably be a bit before I finally get to it😊 Good to know it will be worth the wait though!😀

This idea is so nice! A wonderful way to balance multiple topics on the blog and give all of them attention. I’m looking forward to all the exciting content 😊

Thank you so much, that’s very kind of you to say😊
Definitely looking forward to it myself! Still have quite a bit of things to watch for it, but that’s also part of the fun!😀😀

Yay! Anime month! I’m glad that this theme has finally begun! 😀 I’ve seen and enjoyed Totoro a lot for its innocent and appealing qualities. I hope you’ll have a good time with that one. I’ve been meaning to check out both Your Name and Weather With You, maybe your review will help me push those higher on my list! 😉 I voted for One Punch Man S1 considering that I saw and read that and loved it a lot hahaha Have an excellent anime month, my friend! Looking forward to all these reviews that will likely make me overload my own watchlist! 😀

Haha, so am I! I haven’t had a lot of time to watch anime in the previous months, so I’m happy to finally be able to catch up with some things I’ve been meaning to watch for ages now! The review for Weathering With You is the first one to be released, and I can tell you already that I loved it!😀
One Punch Man is definitely an anime I’ve been meaning to check out too. We’ll see how the voting goes, it’s still early so anything can be the winner really!😀
Haha…I will do my best to overload that watchlist…have a feeling I’m going to succeed at it too!😂😂

Good choices. I love Miyazaki but haven’t seen Totoro yet, though I do have a copy. And I’ve been eyeing Weathering With You and Your Name, as well, as possibilities to watch. As for the poll, I voted for The Lost Village. I’ve watched it and thought it was good (not great, but good) and I’d be interested in seeing your take on it.

Thank you so much! Glad you liked the choices. Totoro is a movie that I have been aching to see for such a long time now, that I’m honestly surprised I haven’t been able to see it sooner. But I am really looking forward to it!
As I just said to Lashaan, Weathering with you will be the first review that will be up for this anime month, and I can tell you already that it was a wonderful and truly amazing film. Your Name is another terrific watch by the way😊
Thanks for your vote! I really am intrigued by the story of The Lost Village, so even if it doesn’t end up being the winner, I will get to it eventually myself😊😊

Haha, thanks Scott! 😀 Definitely looking forward to it! Just so you know, I’ve fallen through the Natsume’s Book of Friends rabbit hole….and I’ve been enjoying every second of it so far. I might not even want to sleep tonight because I can’t stop watching. This is of course all Irina’s fault!🤔🤔🤔😂😂😂

The only one I have seen is ‘Totoro’. I voted for ‘Lost Village’, because I like the title. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Totoro, really is a classic! And I honestly don’t know why I still haven’t seen that one to date😅😅😂😂 But I’m really looking forward to it. I definitely think you will love Weathering With You as well Pete. I saw it yesterday and it’s absolutely spellbinding.
As for Lost Village, it’s got three votes now, so it’s in second place. But this being the first day of voting, everything is still open!😀 Thanks for the comment and the vote: Appreciate it! 😀

One of my big favourites is ‘The Wind Rises’. I am sure I have mentioned that before, but it is beautiful to watch.

Yes, it really is an amazing film. I’ve seen it about 3 or 4 years ago, and it’s definitely up for a rewatch. Maybe I will do so even this year Pete. If I do get to it, I promise to write a post for it😀😀

This list is pretty good, I remember watching Witchblade and thinking it’d have fan service. Instead I got more of a Elfen Lied kind of vibe from the series.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Thank you! 😊I finished Witchblade last week and it wasn’t at all what I expected it to be. The main reason I watched it was because of the fact that I really loved the comic book this is based on. I’m not a huge fan of fanservice heavy shows, so I was truly pleasantly surprised that this series was a really emotional rollercoaster to say the least. Elfen Lied is another series that is still very high on my to watch list, but haven’t yet gotten around to. I’m doing a lot of catch up at the moment though, so hopefully I can get to that one soon😀

I’m looking forward to these posts. I do enjoy anime! Like you I’m very much looking forward to Weathering With You. I’m a big fan of Makoto Shinkai’s work and have thoroughly enjoyed everything I’ve seen from him. I’m thinking I’d like to rewatch Voices of a Distant Star and The Place Promised in Our Early Days soon. I love his titles. I hope you enjoy Totoro, that’s a beautiful movie. I was also late to finally seeing it, but I’m glad I did. As with Shinkai I’ve loved everything by Miyazaki. I started watching Witchblade when it was on broadcast TV but I don’t recall how many episodes I made it through (might have finished but I don’t think so). I don’t remember for sure but I think I enjoyed it. As for the poll, I’m picking To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts. Why? Because I love the title! 🙂

Haha thank you, and of course I’m very happy to hear you are looking forward to this! I definitely do so myself as well!😀
I saw Weathering With You yesterday, and without diving into it too deeply (I will leave that for the review) it was absolutely amazing. As you loved his previous titles, I can assure you this one you will highly enjoy too!
Totoro is a movie that has been on my list so long. In fact I think it’s been so for almost a decase. As it’s now on Netflix this is the perfect opportunity for me to finally sit down and watch it.
The crazy thing with Witchblade is that I expected something totally different, but it ended up being a truly emotional and very good series.
Thanks as well for voting. I actually started with To the Abondoned Sacred Beasts a few months ago, but then my health started acting up and I never finished it. From what I saw back then it was really good, so even if the show won’t end up with the most votes, I will get back to it soon!😀 And you are so right: the title is so cool!
Thanks as always for a great comment!😀

These all sound great and I wonder what your opinion will be on each of them. I have to admit, though, that My Neighbour Totoro is one of my least favourite of Miyazaki. It is still very good (as his films are), but it just too plotless and dreamy for my taste. I have very high expectations for Weathering With You too.

Thank you!😊
I definitely am looking very much forward to all of these myself. I watched Weathering With You this weekend, and it was amazing. I hope of have the review out for it on Wednesday😊 As for My Neighbour Totoro, I have heard so much about it, that I’m very much anticipating it, but at the same time as it’s a favorite for so many people I’m always wondering if I’ll feel the same about it too. We will see! 😀Thanks for your comment!😊

I did see Weathering with You earlier this year (in theaters….before the pandemic). Definitely really good anime movie. Kind of a bittersweet ending, but a touching story of young love.

I saw it on Saturday, and you are right, it was a bittersweet ending😀 I really enjoyed it quite a lot though, and the animation style was just off the charts. I really thought it was an amazing film 😀

I saw the first two, and I was like, “Is he only picking things where rain is on the cover??” 🤣 Well, Terror in Resonance broke the streak… probably could use rain if buildings are on fire!
Anyway, looking forward to Anime Month!

Haha, I didn’t even notice that! 😂😂 You are so righ though, glad I broke the streak (unknowingly😂😂)
I’m definitely looking forward to all of this myself as well. So many things that I have wanted to see for quite a while now, so I hope all of them will be worth the wait! Thank you!😊

I’ll definitely be around for My Neighbor Totoro. Since I’m a big fan of Miyazaki.

Haha, I am too, so it’s absolutely crazy that I still haven’t seen this one so far! 😂😂
It’s going to be the last movie I will watch for this month so I’m building the anticipation for it I guess😂😂

Nice line up. I have to confess I had never heard of “Natsume’s book Of Friends” until I visited Irina’s site so it will be nice to finally find out what it is all about! 😉
I was fortunate enough to see “Weathering With You” at the cinema (literally a week before lockdown) and what an experience it was, not in the lest being my first anime on the big screen. Hope you get a kick out of it too!
Have fun with your anime month! 🙂

I’m right in the middle of watching the series now, and seeing as I bingewatched 12 episodes in one day you pretty much already know what my thoughts on it will be😂😂
I saw Weathering With You on saturday and I thought it was amazing. I loved every second of it. It was such a beautiful and amazing movie. My review for it should be out on wednesday!
Thanks, I will for sure!😀

I watched it this saturday and I absolutely loved it! Your Name was good, but for some reason this film just resonated slightly more with me. This is a movie I will intend to rewatch again very soon 😀

Looking forward to your posts on all of these! It was hard to vote on just one for you to watch but I ended up voting for Dorohedoro *fingers crossed*!

Thank you! I’m definitely looking forward to it myself! 😊Haha, well currently the votes are tied between Lost Village and Kino’s Journey, but Dorehedoro is in second place 😀 So…who knows what will happen😊 I do hope it doesn’t end up as a tie though haha😂😂😂

Haha if it’s a tie you’ll have to watch both 😋!

Voted for my fav, but interested to see what you reckon about any of those. (And I’ll probably skim the ‘Witchblade’ review for now, until I’ve had a chance to watch it :D)

Thank you! So am I for sure! 😀 Fair enough about the review. I usually skip reviews for things I’m close to watching myself as well😊 Even though my reviews are pretty much always as spoiler free as possible I myself also wants to find out as little as possible about a new series too😀😀
Thanks for the vote, and we’ll see what will win eventually!😊

Yeah, I think I have an almost irrational desire to avoid spoilers – but I’m sure I’ll be fine, I mean, I don’t remember spoilers in your other reviews, like ‘Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens’ most recently for one 🙂

It’s probably because I really hate spoilers myself😀 I always tend to avoid them as much as I can😊

I am taking a week’s vacation of the blog to get settled in but next week I return with all my anime reviews I pushed together coming out as seperate posts… thing is I needed two more shows to watch alongside the rest and Natsume Book of Friends came out as one of them!
Not sure what the seventh will be yet.. maybe Cowboy Beebop as I never watched that!
But it’s fun to see suddenly everyone starts watching this at the same time! .. I think I saw Scott also talking about it recently xD
So great pick there and have an amazing anime Month I am sure you will turn it into something amazing

Haha, that really is a fun coincidence! 😀😀 Well, I promised to write (and watch) this anime for so long now, that this seemed like the perfect time and opportunity to finally start doing so. The thing is….I can’t stop watching now. I’ve completed season 1, am already halfway to season 2 which I expect to finish tonight, and season 3 is already looking at me😂😂
But yeah it’s a great show and I definitely see why it’s such a favorite😊
Thanks for the kind words! I will definitely try and make this a fun series of posts, and so far I’m enjoying it a lot. It also helps that I have a week off next week too!😀😀

Miyazaki can do no wrong! 😉 However, My Neighbor Totoro isn’t one of my favorite Miyazaki movies. I much prefer something like Princess Mononoke or Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. 🙂
