Has it really been two weeks already since I came back from my hiatus? I guess the old saying is true: time really does fly when you are having fun. Because really, I have been having fun: quite a lot. It’s awesome to be on WordPress again! When I came back, I took a vow to not start watching seasonal anime this summer season because of the fact that I am really far behind with a lot of shows. In other words, I just wanted to catch up first with some of the older series, before I started taking on new ones. Well, that vow lasted about one week. I totally blame Cactus Matt, Karandi, Irina and Jon for this. If they hadn’t written posts about the new shows, or talked to me in the comments section about them I never would have done this. So yeah, thanks for that. As if I didn’t have enough to watch already, sigh. Of course you all know that I am totally joking here. I have loved talking to everyone in the comments about the new shows, and today (and last week) I spent time with four new animes. I am happy to say I have now totally caught up with every episode released for these to date. So, don’t keep us in suspense Raist! What have you watched and what are your impressions so far? Jeezzz, okay already don’t be so impatient! Here we go!
Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a Dungeon? Season 2
The anime with one of the longest titles ever is back for a new season! Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a Dungeon? was an anime I had not yet watched up until this point. So naturally I bingewatched it’s first season erm first. A review for that one is coming soon on this blog, but suffice it to say that I really enjoyed it a lot. As much fun as season 1 was though, I’m loving the second season even more so far. The storyline is, at least for me that is, is much more interesting. It’s great to see both Bell and Hestia team up again, but also as it seems now, to be greatly outmatched. The new foe Apollo is one heck of a nasty (and quite frankly very annoying) character, and I for one can’t wait to see him getting his *ss kicked! The chemistry between the group is once again amazing, and I am very much looking forward to see where the rest of this season is going to be taking us!
Fire Force
If you think Fire Force is a show about the fire department, you would be partially right. But it’s not like any fire department you might know. Taking place in an alternative Tokyo, special fire brigades have been formed to protect the public from a frightening phenomenon called Spontanious Human Combustion. It turns normal people into terrible creatures called Infernals. The animation and action in this show has so far been amazing, and I love the truly unique storyline. There are some very clever ideas in this series, and with a fun lead character in the form of Shinra this is one anime that I am going to be looking forward to each week. It’s supposedly going to be one of the longer running shows, so let’s hope the level of quality will be maintained and it’s not going to become stale at some point. For that would really be a shame.
If it’s for my daughter, I’d even defeat a demon lord
This anime had me smiling and gave me a feelgood feeling all the way through. Yet another long title, this anime tells the story of the young adventurer Dale. One day when out alone in the forest he encounters a young demon girl called Latina. Her father just died, and Dale taking pity on her decides to take her home, taking it upon himself to raise her. Latina is certainly one of the cutest anime girls that I have ever seen. There was a scene where she was helping out in an inn and carried some plates to the counter, that just made my heart melt. Yeah, I know, I’m a big softie. The show does at times also become slightly darker in tone, especially in the latest episode, taking on some pretty mature themes. Overall though this is an anime where you just can’t help but smile at, and it will be interesting to see in which direction this will take us eventually.
To the abandoned Sacred Beasts
The last but certainly not least show that I am watching for this season is to the abandoned Sacred Beasts. Maybe this will come as a surprise (or not) but so far this is my favorite show of the season. A civil war between the South and the North is resolved in an unexpected way, when the outnumbered Northerners use a dark form of magic to create monstrous supersoldiers. The so called Incarnates make mincemeat out of the South and soon a peace treaty is signed. However this leaves the Incarnates in trying to come to terms on how to survive and live on in peaceful world. The first episode, especially it’s opening scene just made me grin from ear to ear, and I have been having a blast ever since. Featuring non stop (often bloody) action, terrifying monsters, spectacular fightscenes, and interesting characters I’m absolutely loving this one. The storyline and setting (that almost feels like a western at times) is also one of the main reasons why this is so far my favorite!
Last Impressions
So that’s it for this post! I have to say that I would honestly have loved to see two more shows, but this season especially seems to be a bad one when it comes to the availability of certain titles in my country. Sometimes I really don’t like living in Holland, as there are so many great animes that we often simply don’t have access to. Alas, it can’t be helped and it’s not like I haven’t got enough to watch anyway. I’m looking forward to seeing how these four shows are going to progress the upcoming weeks. I can’t wait to talk about these new titles over on your blogs! And that pretty much is a wrap for this post. So are you following any of these? What are your impressions so far? Don’t be shy, let’s talk in the comment section! I promise I won’t bite! I hope everyone is having a great weekend up till now. Enjoy it and see you all at the next post, or over on your blogs, whatever comes first!
Glad your enjoying everything you’ve decided to watch (also just glad you’re back in general!)

Thanks so much, that is very kind of you to say! I am very glad to be back, and as I said in the post, it’s just been a lot of fun!
As for the shows, yeah this is so far been a very enjoyable season! Can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next😊😊

I am happy for you that you are back watching the anime that you love. It always fascinates me that the characters have such huge eyes! And the female ones are almost always beautiful too. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Thanks so much Pete😊 It really is a pleasure to be watching anime again. And the shows this season have so far been exceptionally good 😊 Haha, yeah the huge eyes is definitely what you could almost call a trademark when it comes to anime, and so does the beauty of the females😊

I’m going to go read the Demon Lord one.
And rai-san, totally get your situation haha. Ryu-kun added five more ongoing titles to my ever growing list in the first month of returning to Twitter *shakes head*

Ooh, I think you will really enjoy that one Auri. I have no idea yet where the story will be ending up, but it’s certainly been a fun and oftentimes very cute one 😊
Haha…yeah…it’s been crazy, instead of decreasing my to watch list I keep on adding more to it 😂😂😂 Oh well, at least we won’t get bored so there is that 😊

Thanks so much Kim! It’s definitely been an incredible two weeks of blogging so far, and I can only see that I haven’t enjoyed myself so much in quite a while 😊
Fire Force really is an amazing anime so far, and the story is just great. If you want to check it out you can watch it for free on Crunchyroll, as long as you don’t mind the occasional commercial. Lol…and could not agree more about Latina😊😊😊😊

I really am so impressed by everyone keeping up with the seasonal anime lol I’m so bad at that so I never have posts like this but I looooove reading them! Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In a Dudgeon has been on my to watch list for sometime now. I heard good things about the first season so I’m glad the decided season is still going strong! Fire Force is another one I’ve been wanting to try but to be honest all of the shows you described sound fun!

Haha, well funny story, I used to never watch seasonal anime, but preferred finished shows instead. But then I was having so much time exchanging comments on posts, that eventually I just caved in and started watching some of the most watched shows so I could talk about them with others.
This season so far has really been great, and Fire Force is certainly a terrific anime! It’s one you should definitely give a look, although admittedly for now to the abandoned sacred beasts has been my favorite 😊😊

Hehehe my plan to get you to watch the Demon Daughter show was successful! XD
Anyway, I totally get having so many shows but I’m glad you are enjoying all the ones you picked up here 🙂 Thanks for the plug and look forward to discussing the shows once they are all finished up!

Haha, yeah I couldn’t decide what to drop, so instead I just though let’s just watch them all 😂😂 So yup your plan worked 😂😂It took a bit of time, but now I’m fully caught up!
Definitely looking forward to that as well. Thanks as always for reading and your comment! 😊

I haven’t seen Is It Wrong yet, but it’s on my to watch list. The others sound interesting, especially Fire Force and Sacred Beasts. I’ll have to add these to my watch list, too. I’m pretty sure they’re all on Crunchyroll. My queue there still has a lot on it that I haven’t gotten a chance to watch yet…

Haha, that is very relatable indeed 😊😊 As mentioned I originally didn’t even intend to watch anything new this season, but some bloggers are just way too pursuasive for their own good lol😂 My queue is huge as well, and that’s just the one on Crunchyroll. Then there are dvds and Netlflix, and I can only hope to maybe one day have a sabbatical of a year 😂
But yes, all of these are on Crunchyroll! It’s still early buf both Fire Force and Sacred Beasts are fast moving up on my list of all time favorite animes😊 As for Is it Wrong, that’s definitely a fun one too! I hope you will enjoy them when you get to see them😊 Thanks for your comment! 😊

That’s a nice range of stories you’ve ended up with in your watch list. Hopefully you will continue to enjoy them. I just found out that I actually have access to the Dub of Fire Force on AnimeLab so I’m wondering if I should review the dubbed version for once. Makes taking screen caps without text easier.
Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on the shows as the season progresses.

I’m very glad to have ended up with these myself. I was particularly impressed by the opening scene of to the abandoned sacred beasts: wow! But honestly I like all four shows, they each have their own charms 😊
Well, I usually only watch subbed anime, though I am going to be watching something very old soon on youtube that I can only find dubbed. But honestly, that works well for this particular anime 😊 So…if it makes it easier for you: I say go for it! These days I’m guessing the dubs are pretty good anyway 😊

I don’t watch a lot of dubbed anime. Very little in fact because normally I’ve watched a subbed stream and already have an idea of what the characters should sound like and then the dub sounds ‘wrong’. That said, dubs are much better these days so it might be a nice change to watch one dubbed show in my watch list.
Irina’s actually reviewing it on my blog so I’m just watching along and commenting but I will do a series review once the season ends.

That is the same with me. In fact I haven’t watched a dubbed anime anymore since I started watching anime again. Way back with the old manga label of anime, I only watched anime in dubbed versions. Now though, I just always prefer the original language. But well, I think in this case it’s a good idea😊 It will be a nice change indeed! It’s really awesome that you two are working together. I have really enjoyed reading the posts by both you and Irina so far! (Not that I didn’t already, but well you know what I mean😊).

There’s one of your shows I’m curious as to how much they’ll adapt and what you’ll think if the whole story gets shown. I mean, I want to see your review/thoughts on all of them, but one in particular is my #1 I want to read. Either way, enjoy your shows!

Thank you! I’m so far enjoying these four very much! I hope they continue to be as good as they are right now! 😃

Based on the few episodes I have watched, I have to agree that the second season of Dungeon is better than the first. Have you checked the spin-off series that stars the sword princess?
The daughter series is cute. Feels a bit like a fantasy Usagi Drop. There is a lot of good stuff airing this season, but I suspect some of the shows I am enjoying might not be out legally in Holland.

I didn’t even know there was a spin-off series for this. But no, I havent’ seen it, but I also just checked to see if it’s on Crunchyroll for me, and of course it isn’t 😔
That said, the second season really is much better. Where the first series started rather slow, this one is much more streamlined and storywise much more interesting.
As for the daughter, yeah…that is such a cute show. I had not expected to like it, but it really is so much fun. Totally..this season has been great, but alas there are a great many shows that are unavailable for me 😢

Fire Force is definitely a title that has caught my attention here. But all of these sounds awesome for one reason or another. I just probably wouldn’t have enough time at my disposition to check them all out hahah The last anime I saw over the summer was the My Hero Academia OVA movie and it is as awesome as the manga, which I’m reading right now and am up to date with the chapters (almost)! 😀 Thanks for sharing these though! I look forward to hearing about more animes you’ll be checking out. Are you reading any manga right now actually? Or your time is completely given to animes? 😀

Fire Force is shaping up to really becoming an awesome and really fun show. The concept is really original, and combined with the great visuals, this one so far has been one of the most enjoyable shows this season.
I have to really get back to My Hero Academia. I have only seen the first season so far, which I absolutely loved, but then my health started doing all the wrong things and I kind of stopped watching. But then again, my backlog is so huge I probably will never finsih everything. Cool to hear you are reading the manga!
I have finally finished the Monster manga (it was awesome, a review for that is coming up next week) And I can now finally begin with Alita. I have all the deluxe editions, so I hope to start reading somewhere this week. Really looking forward to it 😊

You definitely should get back into checking out My Hero Academia. It’s awesome and it only gets better! And then check out the movie too. The final act in it is sooooo epic, you just can’t contain the kid in you when that scene starts!
I look forward to your review for Monster bro. I’ll probably end up rereading it sooner rather than later because of you! 😂
Hell yes! I’ll finally know someone who will have read the whole Alita story like I did!!! 😂 Can’t wait for you to try it out and see its ultra-violence in all of its glory! 😂

Yeah everyone says how cool My Hero Accademia is, and I pretty much know it too. I have the boxed set of the first season and I think I completed that in two days: it was epic. And now you have made me curious about the movie! 😅😂😂
Well…not to say too much about it yet: but I LOVED Monster. It was absolutely amazing. As for Alita: yeah, can’t wait to get started on it! So looking forward to that one 😊😊

So far ever since my return I have really been enjoying myself😊 And there are a lot of cool things coming up.
The four anime featured here, with the exception of Is it Wrong, are all new and just started in July 😊 As for that review, there are a couple of other things coming up first, but I expect to publish it with the next 3 weeks 😊
