Merry Christmas to you all (A special post, and life update)

Hello everyone. So next week it’s Christmas and most of you will probably be celebrating this event with all of your loved ones. A few weeks ago I announced the fact that I would be taking a step back from blogging. At the time I thought that I would at least still be around albeit in a lesser capacity. Sadly as most of you have noticed that hasn’t been the case. Since my announcement life decided to throw me a curveball, and it seems my being tired and lacking energy has a different reason than just the work stress and life being generally busy. But I will get to that in a moment. One of the reasons I am writing this post is to also say that life without blogging is….quiet. As most of you know that have been following me for a long while, blogging has been a big part of my life for almost three years. It’s been strange, coming home and not tuning in to wordpress reading posts and commenting on them. But one of the biggest things that I have been missing is you guys.

Health

F975FD8C-9914-404E-98BB-DF9E1BC55C2E
I take any excuse to put up a picture of the platelets….

My lack of energy and generally being tired was steadily becoming worse. So much worse in fact that I eventually consulted a doctor and after a bloodtest it was confirmed that I have an extreme lack of Vitamine D. To give you a small indication. A normal, healthy person should be at a rate of about 70, I have a rate of 10. Yes…you read that correctly a rate of 10. That pretty much explains the fact why I have been feeling so tired these past few weeks. As annoying as this is, I could honestly live with that. I am getting medication for it, and hopefully my levels will go up again eventually. But, unfortunately this is not the only thing that is going on. For the past 3 weeks I have been having a lot of problems with my stomache. Eating something usually results in either getting a very bloated stomache, or feeling nauseous, or a combination of the two. The meds I am taking for that aren’t really helping, and as it’s looking now after the holiday season I will be getting more tests to find out what’s going on. It’s been a pretty horrible couple of weeks, with some good days, but also some pretty bad days. Honestly I am quite done with it, thank you very much.

Promises

39B3EE68-CB3B-4425-9BF7-AE844D487EC4
Sigh…are we really back to apologising now……

One of the things I regret a lot is not having been able to keep the promises that I made. I have luckily been able to complete the collab posts with Irina and participated in the WordPress Anime Awards, for which I am very grateful. Both were incredibly fun projects and I’m glad that I fortunately still had time (and energy) to work on those. But original content from me like for instance the review for the Korean drama Voice and other stuff that I announced, those promises I unfortunately wasn’t able to keep. I have not even answered all of the comments on some of my last posts, and I truly am sorry for that. Believe me when I say that I appreciate all the kind words, and heartwarming comments that I have received from so many of you. It really isn’t my intention to ignore you, but there have been days where pretty much all I did after work was fall asleep or lie in my bed trying to watch something on Netflix. I am playing catch up, and sometimes it might take me a while, but I will eventually get to answering all of them.

So…..what now?

30777018-86D1-4F2B-9E54-A11D10E896A8
Yeah….this really is one of my new addictions (as if I didn’t have enough of those yet…)

Because of my health, starting this week I have begun working less hours, six instead of my usual eight. On a particularly bad day this week, I even returned home sick and crawled back into bed. I am not doing a lot when I come home, and spent my free hours either resting or watching some dvd/Netflix (I have developped a particular addiction to the CW Arrowverse universe lol). All in all I am feeling like a guy well past his eighties instead of my own age. It sucks, for lack of a better word, but at the same time I also felt that I just had to write a post for all of you nearing the holiday season. Because as annoying as all this might be, I also know that I quite honestly do miss blogging and all of you. Does this mean that I will be returning soon? Erm…no. I first have to get my health back in some kind of reasonable shape, before I even attempt to return to some type of schedule. I hope that after the holiday season, the new tests will be able to establish what’s currently going on inside my body, and return it back into fighting shape.

Christmas and the future…

Best….Christmas movie….ever??? FOR REAL?!?!

So why this post then? It’s Christmas, and as cheesy as this may sound, it’s one of my favorite times of the year. I love the cozyness of it all, the way we spent time with our families, eating good food, watching Home Alone for maybe the one millionth time (although I am more partial to Die Hard myself) and just generally enjoying ourselves. Even though this Christmas might not be the same for me as the years that came before it, (especially on the food department) I do intend to make the best of it. For Christmas is more than food, it’s just enjoying each other’s company that usually makes it the best. At the same time I also wanted to wish each and every one of you an incredibly awesome Christmas. All of you that have left a like, placed a comment, or in some other way supported me throughout the past few years that I have been blogging: Thank you. This community is and always shall be: awesome! I don’t know what the new year will be bringing, but I do intend to make some kind of return here as soon as I am back in shape. So…don’t write me off just yet. For now though, at the risk of sounding like a bad Hallmark movie (sorry Nicole), may your holiday season be very bright, and all the best for the upcoming year.

    1. Arrow really is awesome (as are all the other shows, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow 😊) Sorry to hear that you have been having a rough time currently as well 😢 Life definitely can be very hard. Please take care, and I hope you will still be able to enjoy Christmas 😊 Merry Christmas to you as well😊

      1. Life okay, it’s just work has been hectic and working six day weeks. My blogging has suffered because of it but getting back on track now. I would say The Flash is good but the crossover episodes totally ruined both series for me as you have to watch the other shows to follow the story, which I just couldn’t keep up with. Hope you have a great Christmas too. It’s New Years Day I love the most, a fresh start to the year.

      2. Work can definitely throw a wrench into the best laid plans that’s for sure. Before my health problems that was pretty much what kept throwing problems on my end as well. It’s good to hear that you are getting back on track.
Yeah…it’s difficult, but I have found a list on which order to watch the episode (just google arrowverse watching order and you will find it). And it helps that I have all shows on dvd lol 😂
Thank you again, I wish the same to you, and hopefully next year is going to be amazing 😊😊

  1. Sorry to hear about those health problems, Michel. I am trusting that your doctors will be able to get you cured in due course though.
Enjoy your family Christmas, and watching all that Netflix! 🙂
Best wishes and seasonal greetings to you, and to your family too.
    Pete.

    1. That’s what I am hoping myself as well Pete. As I said…it’s been pretty annoying to say the least and I really am done with it😅
Thanks so much Pete, for all your kindness, and support. It truly means a lot to me 😊
Hope your holiday season will be good as well for you and your family 😊😊

      1. Well, that’s good to hear!! Maybe I’ll have to move to your neck of the woods! I’m in Canada where we have OHIP, but it doesn’t stop doctors from taking half of every week off, cutting their hours, telling people 1 issue per visit, and making sure people have to have return visits.

  2. It sucks that your health has been so poor and I really hope you start to feel better soon or that they at least find the cause so that you can start appropriate treatment.
I wish you a very merry Christmas and will be sending you good wishes for your health on the new year.

    1. Thank you so much for the kind words. It’s truly been very sucky, ( I always wonder if that’s a word, though I have been told by someone that it is lol), but I am trying to hang in there, and keep postive. I really hope they find out the cause and I will be able to get back my energy and hopefully do the things I love doing again 😊
Thanks for all the amazing support throughout the years, and I hope you will have an amazing Christmas as well. Hope you are doing well yourself too. Please take care, and best wishes for the new year😊😊

  3. Sorry to hear about the health problems. Had one or two of my own over the last couple of years and it really sucks when it takes time and energy away from the things you love doing.

Don’t feel bad about not living up to “obligations” or “promises”, though, your wellbeing (both physical and mental) always comes first, and I’m pretty sure everyone here understands and accepts that.

I hope you get some answers in the new year and are able to move past the problems you’re having. And you’ll always be a welcome sight in the Reader! Take care of yourself.

    1. Thank you so much Pete, for these very amazing and kind words. It’s definitely been hard I won’t lie there. Especially the sometimes not being able to do things that I love doing. Even reading a book sometimes is difficult. But I am hanging in there.
True I guess, health does come before blogging, but well…it’s also sometimes hard to not be here, and be active. Blogging has done some amazing things for me, and I miss it. But well, as I said, I have to get my health in order first, and then hopefully I will be able to return.
I hope to get those answers soon as well, and move past this.
Thank you so much for this great comment, and have a wonderful Christmas: take care 😊😊

Believe me, I know well how the outside world can affect running a site this year. Honestly, your health has to come first. Get yourself on track and everyone is still gonna be here when you’re back in the swing of things.
For now, just try to enjoy yourself 🙂

It’s really been a hard year when it comes to blogging, especially the past few weeks. I do hope that things will be back in order again soon, especially considering my health. I hope that after next year’s tests there will be a simple solution and get back to doing the things that I love doing 😊
In the meantime I do try to enjoy myself as best I can 😊 Thanks as always for the kind words, and I hope you will have a terrific Christmas too😊

  5. Michel, sorry about the health problems… I understand them so well when everything feels fucked up…. I had gone through that, you know it.
Vitamin D best medicine is sunlight. Wear sleeveless clothes and shorts and stand in the sun for half hour everyday… If it is winter and snowing, then medication is the only way… Ask your doc for injections of vit D one injection per week for 6 weeks and you are set for the year. Get a vit B 12 also done
Calcium meds are the worst to digest, hence advised after food and preferably post lunch..
Just try to do meditation if you believe in that, it helps.. Don’t worry about tests.. If you need to talk at any point of time, I am just a call away… Just pick up the phone, download the app, and call me..
Health is more important than anything else… It is too precious along with family.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year

    1. I’m sorry for the late response Shalini. I had a late shift and have just arrived home.
First off, thank you so much for this incredibly kind and heartwarming comment. I really mean it when I say this made me smile, and truly means an awful lot to me.
Because my Vitamine D levels are so low, I am getting weekly (high) doses of them, and I have taken my second dose last evening. (This is now my second week of taking meds). I have to take them for another 3 weeks and then take another bloodtest to see if the levels have risen. But as I said it’s my stomache that I worry the most about and hopefully with the test in the new year they will be able to find out what’s wrong.
I will definitely take you up on that offer, I promise you that. Thank you so much for your kindness…I hope things are going well with you too, and know that if there are things that you want to talk about, I’m also just a call away: never forget that 😘❤️
I hope you will have a Merry Christmas yourself, and all the best wishes for the new year 😊😊 From the bottom of my heart: thank you 😊😊

I unfortunately fell out of it I think in season 4 or 5? But I am hoping to get back into it one day. I look forward to the day we can talk about it together :]

Until then, Happy Holidays! Enjoy, rest, and work on getting better ❤

Definitely plan on doing some posts for these shows as soon as I am back to my normal self so to speak, so look forward to talking about it with you 😊

    1. Yeah, it’s really been very annoying these past few weeks. There have been a few good days, but certainly also a lot of bad ones. I really hate the fact that I don’t quite know what is going on, so hopefully the tests next year will clear things up and hopefully fix whatever is wrong right now.
I would much rather write reviews about Korean Dramas than posts such as these, trust me on that 😊
I will definitely try to rest and enjoy myself as much as I can. Once again, even though I already said it: Merry Christmas to you as well. I hope it will be amazing for you and your family 😊

      2. It’s daft as a brush but I can’t help liking it. I am way beyond season 2 so will keep schtum and not spoiler it. I haven’t got into the other ones though have seen a couple of crossover episodes which confused me (but that’s not hard todo 🤣). My favourite is Rory, he has a good story line later on.

      5. Maybe at some point. Am doing Outlander, Walking Dead and Vikings at the moment, and just finished a great first season of Jack Ryan which I didn’t think would be up to much as I’ve read the books, but it was brilliant. Not much time for other stuff what with work, books, movies, photography, mosaicing, blogging, christmas and having a life!! Ooh golly gosh, I didn’t realise I do so much! Must have a lie down quick! 🤣

  13. I took a step away from the blogging community in the past month due to my own issues (a lack of creativity and extreme tiredness), so I unfortunately missed your post from a fee weeks back.

Being back now, I’m really sorry to hear about your health issues. As someone who suffers from mild CFS, I completely understand how you feel. There are days where I come home form my desk job (which involves no real physical effort) and I immediately go to bed and just lie there all night because I’m so exhausted. It’s really taxing being so tired all the time, so I can only imagine how you must be feeling right now.

I hope you recover and that you find take the time to rest up and get yourself better. We all understand, and we will miss you greatly.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Raistlin! Please stay safe and keep us in the loop with your health and everything else.

It’s definitely been a taxing couple of weeks. The Vitamine D defficiency is one thing, and totally annoying. It’s the stomache thing though that right now is causing me the most trouble. I really hope the test in january will be able to tell me what is going on and hopefully get something to cure whatever this is.
I am incredibly humbled by your words, and they truly mean a lot. Thank you very much for this amazing and very kind comment.

  14. I’m sorry you’re still not feeling well Michel. As you know I can completely emphasize with what you’re going through. When I was first diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency I had to take a prescription horse pill every day for a couple of months. Now I just take a regular daily supplement and my levels are fine. And I’m sorry about your stomach problems. I hope your doctors can find out what’s wrong quickly.

I’m thrilled though that you’re enjoying the Arrowverse! I’m a huge fan! Just wait until you get to the annual crossover events. I’m also going to recommend another CW show, Supernatural, even though it’s not a superhero show. I think you’d really like it,

Anyway, I’m going to give you the same advice you so kindly gave me, try to rest, relax, and enjoy the holidays as much as you can my friend. Don’t worry about your blog. We’re not going anywhere. 😚

    1. Thank you so much Kim. The Vitamine D defficiency is really the thing that hasn’t got me worried to much right now. I know with the right medication eventually that will get back to normal. It’s the stomache thing that is really wearing me out right now, and has me a little bit concerned as well. I hope that with the tests I am going to be taking in January they can hopefully find out what’s wrong and in that way can devise some sort of treatment for it.
I’m defnitely loving the shows. I have reached the fifth season of Arrow now, Flash is on it’s third, Supergirl and Legends on it’s second. I am definitely looking forward to the crossover events.
As for Supernatural: I love that, but as with so many shows, I’m really running behind on it. So after I finish the Arrowverse, I plan to continue with that one.
Thank yoy very much for this kind comment and your advice. It is sometimes hard to stay away, and it’s been nice to have been back here for a bit..but yes I will probably not be around here until somewhere next year again. But in the meantime I will still try to stay in touch. Thanks as always for this amazing comment and for being such a great friend Kim 😊😊❤️

Will you keep me posted?

And once again, I’m thrilled you’re loving the CW shows. We’ll have to discuss when you’re feeling better. And Michel, don’t forget, I’m an email away if you need to vent. Take care of yourself my friend.🤗😚🤗

      2. Well..it seems we have another thing in common then, as I also have irritable bowel disease. Only the complaints I’m having now have never been this bad, which is why I am going to be taking some additional tests to hopefully find out what’s wrong. I definitely will keep you posted Kim.
It really is so much fun watching the Arrowverse. As soon as I am feeling up to it, I will try and doe a series of posts on them 😊
Thanks as always for your kindness Kim. You take care as well 😊

    1. Thank you so much for your prayers and kindness, it really means a lot😊 It’s definitely not been the best Christmas that’s for sure, but I am still trying to stay positive as much as I can. Thank you again, and I hope you have had an amazing Christmas as well 😊

  15. I really hope everything works out! I say take your time because your health comes first so don’t feel bad! We’ll all be here when you come back 😀 Happy holidays to you too and take care 💕

Also Arrow! I have so many mixed feelings. I never watched the whole thing but my mom binged it when she was bedridden last summer and I ended up watching it in clusters with her filling in the gaps. I wanted to really love it but after so many seasons everything just gets disastrous and uh, predictable? Not exciting? IDK xD but I did really enjoy the start of it 🙂

    1. Thanks so much: I will definitely try to take as much rest as I can, and hopefully when I am back into shape I do plan to return here in some form or other: Hope you have a wonderful holiday season as well😊
As for Arrow, there have definitely been ups and downs with the show, but that I guess is the story of pretty much every tv series. Mostly though I have been highly enjoying it😊😊
Thanks again for you kindness 😊😊

  16. Sorry to hear things are not going too well in your life at the moment. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that your health improves.

I recently had a few days off work ill and managed to watch 18 episodes of Arrow … so addictive!

My life has been hectic (not for the same reasons as yours) but, as far as blogging goes, just do what I do. Post whenever you feel you are able rather than to a schedule. I haven’t been able to get on to do a post in over a month 😢 got a note pad with so many review notes for books I have read in the mean time haga.

Merry Christmas and I hope you have a happy New Year.

    1. Yeah, it’s definitely been a hard couple of weeks, that is for sure, and I really hope that this thing whatever it is, gets solved soon. Hopefully when I get the results from the tests in january I will be able to get some proper treatment for this.
Haha, Yeah Arrow can definitely be way too addictive. I have had a full weekend of bingewatching last weekend myself as well lol😂😂
I’m sorry to hear that life has been so hectic for you as well lately. Hopefully things will improve for you soon. Please take care as well, and as far as blogging goes, real life is always more important: and I’m pretty sure the blogging verse will still be here when you feel you are able to write again.
Have a very merry christmas yourself as well, and all the best for 2019 😊 Thanks for this great comment 😊

  17. Hey, are you OK now, Raistlin ? I myself went on hiatus for more than 3 months, which started in NOvember, 2018 to middle of March, 2019. No reading of blogs, nothing. When I finally posted middle of March, I had to sincerely apologize for being AWOL . It did worry quite a few of my regular readers, and I had to apologize for needlessly worrying them.

Anyway, I hope you’re okay now. Take care.
