Can you believe it? The first month of the year is already over. Time sure does fly when you are having fun right? But with January now being a thing of the past (though I am pretty sure it will return next year), this means we now have a new month to get through. And a new month, means a new theme for my blog. In January I already let you know what that theme would be, namely science fiction and horror movies. But that’s also because I needed your help. You might recall that I asked you all to let me in on which movies you would like me to review. A lot of you gave me some awesome suggestions, and now the time has arrived to decide which ones would be the winners. So how did I set about in doing this? I of course consulted a number of the most scientific and inventive minds our world has to offer. Erm…sorry to disappoint but no, not really. Let’s find out how I did decide and then ofcourse which ones have made the cut so to speak.
Total Randomness
Now I did not really use rocketscience people. In fact it was all done in a very basic way. I made two lists from all of your comments, one for the horror movies, one for the science fiction movies. Each comment got a number, and after buying a random number generator from the Appstore, I let fate decide on the winners.

So….who has won? Well, let’s find out shall we?
And the winners are……(horrormovies)
The random number generator selected number 9 and number 14 from this list. Number 9 was a suggestion from Vinnieh and will go down in history as the oldest movie that I have ever reviewed on my blog: The Haunting from 1963. The second number, being 14 was a choice made by Shadowcat99 namely the Stephen King adaptation It from 1990.
And the winners are……(science fiction movies)
For the science fiction movielist we get two numbers that were next to each other. The first, number 22 was a suggestion by Bizarre Brunette the epic Pacific Rim. The number 21 that was selected next, was chosen by Dani being the Paul Verhoeven classic, Starship Troopers.
In closing
Congratulations to the winners! I hope that the reviews I’m going to write for your choices will live up to your expectations. And, each review will also as promised contain an honorable mention, which means a small promo from me about your blogs as a thank you for participating in this event. Just like last month, the theme will not be the only thing that is going to be happening on my blog. There will also be plenty of other content heading your way for some anime, another Korean dramaseries and hopefully a book review as well. I’m looking forward to another cool month of blogging. Thank you all for reading, see you around!

Ooooh! Rai-san!
This is going to be super exciting!
P.S- I like how horror is the theme of the so called month of love XD

Oh, this is a month to look forward too! (but technically, to be nitpicky, ‘It’ is a miniseries and not a movie. But hey, merge the two episodes and tada! you have a loooong movie. 😎 )
LikeLiked by 2 people
Haha: I know: it technically is a miniseries, but in the end I allowed the entry as most people tend to think of it as a movie 😀
But glad you are looking forward to it. I am as well: as both are my favorite genres of films 😀😀

Yeah they do. A shame in a way since the books are two and they are meant to be seen as two. I like them better if you treat them as two as well. The impact is bigger I think.
Well, the genres are my two favorites as well. 🤗

Yeah…I am probably going to do it as one review…but not quite sure how yet. Having not seen the film..erm miniseries in a while, I still have to decide a bit what I am going to put in the post.
And awesome that these are your two favorite genres as well. Seriously cool 😊😊

😎 It is cool. I had a hunch that you and I had the same taste in movies as well as anime. 😊 It is a hard one, IT, since it’s done the way it is. Did the person who posted the request mean both parts? Because you could always just do part one. I mean, the remake is only part one and that counts as one movie. And I’d say that the original part one would count as one movie as well. They are two movies and theoretically you can watch them as stand alone movies. At least the first one. Just a thought.

Haha…weird, I had that same hunch 😂😂
Well…erm it said It (1990 version). And looking at IMDB it also lists it as one thing…so…yeah. Am thinking I might as well do the whole thing (and honestly…I do want to see it entirely as I haven’t seen it in quite a while). But…thinking of how I am going to the review. Of course there is absolutely no pressure whatsoever….🙈🙈🙈🙈

IMDB suuuucks!! 😵 Well, a little. But yeah, fine then, do it your way… wait, it is your thing so… you have my approval no matter which way. 👍🏻 But it better be good or else… 😈

I love the theme this month, but I’ll apologise in advance for hiding when you post about IT. That movie scared me horribly as a child and I won’t go anywhere near it.

Haha, thank you I am looking forward to it a lot myself as well, as both are of course my favorite moviegenres. I don’t blame you for it. It’s a film that can still seriously get under my skin as well 😂😂

Boo! I must have missed the nominations! I live whoever said ‘Dark city’ on your list though. What a fantastic movie! I would have loved to suggest ‘cabin in the woods’ but, I wouldn’t have known whether to Nominate it for horror, or sci-fi!! Lol!

Haha, well…there will be more interactive posts coming up this year so no worries 😊😊 I really enjoyed Dark City myself…it’s been a while since I last saw it. Who knows maybe I will do a review for it somewhere in the future 😊
As for Cabinin the Woods, great film….difficult to classify…but…i’m going with horror 😊😊

aside from the Haunting, which I have not seen, all good choices. Thoroughly enjoy all of those movies. In fact, I kinda prefered the original IT to the Remake, if I am honest but on the other hand, they technically haven’t finished the story so maybe my opinion will change. As for Starship Troopers and Pacific Rim, two awesome movies and a crossover I would love to see…

Well, I still have to see the remake, but I have heard very different opinions on it all around. I’m looking forward to seeing the Haunting as I have never seen it myself, and it’s a fun change for me too as it’s been a while since I really saw a true classic film.
As for that crossover: that would really be such a terrific event. Who knows…these days anything can happen 😂😂

Yay, my suggestion came up as a winner! I can’t wait to see what you write for it. Also I’m super excited that the other horror movie is an old one. I usually don’t watch anything newer then the 70’s cause if those movies scare me silly I know I can’t handle too much of the newer stuff. I make acceptions for king, though I’ll probably never watch the new It.

January certainly zoomed by. When it comes to random numbers I use Microsoft Excel. I imagine you can find websites that pick random numbers too.
IT is a timely pick given that the new movie came out recently. Glad to see Starship Troopers get selected. That movie’s awesome. Funny, action packed and has boobs too.

Haha…yes it does. It’s been quite a while since I last saw that film (Starship Troopers), so I am really looking forward to revisiting it again 😊😊). Then again…all the movies are cool to revisit (and I have never seen The Haunting, so that’s cool too 😊).

It’s a fun film. Just one of those great movies where you just sit back and eat a bowl of popcorn, not thinking much. At times it’s fun to just have those kind of movies 😊

I really hope you enjoy Pacific Rim more than I did. That “computer game” movie remains one of my most hated films of recent years (partly because the director has far too much talent to be doing this rubbish).

Haha…I can understand and that’s fair. 😊Except for The Haunting, I have seen all of these movies before, but most a long time ago so I’m going to revisit them. Pacific Rim is one of those guilt pleasure type of movies. At times I really like a fun popcorn film so to speak, and I really love this one 😊 It certainly has it’s flaws, but I love the robots and the fights, so yeah it’s a fun film for me 😊

I heard that the previous adaptation of IT was better than the recent. Gonna wait for your review,
Anyways, I kind of in a Korean Drama watching slump (wait what?), I’m not into Animes. I’m currently watching FairyTail. Are you familiar with it? It has cheesy parts but so far I liked it.. I love the twists throughout the series.. But i need recommendations for Anime. 🙂 🙂

I’ve heard that too. I know that, even though I saw this one ages ago, I absolutely loved it. So I am really looking forward to revisiting it 😊
A Korean drama slump huh? Well I have had that happen from time to time as well.
I know Fairy Tale, but I haven’t seen it myself. I have heard very good things about it 😊
As for anime recommendations: Orange, Your Lie in April, Erased and Attack on Titan. For the first three you can find reviews over on my blog. Another great source for anime is Karandi’s blog, 100wordanime. She is a true expert on all things anime and is a terrific blogger 😊😊

These two are genres that are written about comparatively lesser I think. I think it might be because it’s a little more complex than some other genres. Anyways I am looking forward to what you have to write. Also. Did you write that list yourself? Your handwriting is nice. 😋

Finally, the suspense is over. This is such a great idea! Very bold to leave the choices up to the readers and to chance. I look forward to the sci-fi picks, especially. Starship troopers was my favorite movie for a time, when I was like 11, oddly enough. I had developed a huge crush on Denise Richards haha.

Your new Theme catergories in each month are greatly intrguing Michel. Unfortunately I was not able to participate as i returned rather too late due to curcumstances. Sadly I am unsure when I would be around on here, but it goes without saying that I look forward to your reviews, as always. Particularly The Haunting and Starship Troopers. ‘Fate’ has landed on some good choices.

Good luck with IT. 🙂 It’s one of few horror movies I’ve never been brave enough to watch (but in saying that, I’m sort of freaked out by clowns and mascot costumes, and mildly creeped out by any type of mask).

Lol…well it will be fun to revisit that one. It’s been ages since I last saw that miniseries, and besides a few small things I can hardly remember it. And there are quite a number of people that really are afraid of clowns, so you are not alone in that 😊😊
Glad to read that you find the films exciting, I hope the reviews will do them justice 😀

Hmm…well..it’s something I agree with you on. It’s really been a long time when I was genuinely scared by a horrorfilm. The one that springs to mind for that was The Babadook. A movie that was really, really scary. Saw that one about 2 or 3 years ago. But I also love sci fi a lot 😊 Thank you 😊
