Helly everyone! As we are about halfway through the month of January, it’s time to reveal the upcoming theme for next month. As mentioned in my plans for this year, every month my blog will be focussing on a different theme, that will get just a little bit more attention than all the other stuff. And as you can see above in the big black capital letters that are kind of hard to miss, next month the theme will be Science Fiction and Horrormovies. So why reveal this now, and not wait until the end of the month? Well, because this time I’m going to ask you for a bit of help. No it’s nothing serious, you don’t need to do any heavy lifting or homework. So what am I asking exactly?
The help question and the rules.
Next month I want to do at least four reviews for movies that are suggested by you the readers. Yes you! So how exactly does this work?
- Leave a comment down below in this post for one or two movies that you would like me to watch and do a review for
- It has to be a science fiction and/or horrormovie
- It can be either an animated or live action movie, as long as it is in one of the categories that I mentioned
- You can leave a comment with your suggestions until the 25th of January
- I will then use a random number generator to pick four movies, two for each category
- The movies that are going to be reviewed will be revealed on the first post for February
- The bloggers whose choices got picked will get an honorable mention on my blog
Pretty simple and straightforward huh? I hope you will provide me with a few good suggestions, and of course thank you for the help. Looking forward to seeing what everyone is going to come up with!
Strange Days (1995), Return of the Living Dead (1985)

Great suggestions! I already reviewed Event Horizon last year, but the other two I have added to the list. At the end of the month we will see if they are going to win😀 Thanks for these 😊

All of them are great by the way, so really thank you for this 😀😀

I can do a review for any of the other 4, or if you have another suggestion that’s also cool (if your suggestions are going to win ofcourse). Thanks for these already in advance 😀

I’d have to echo the request for Dark City. Though something a bit sillier like Ultraviolet could be fun.
Though, honestly anything in these genres will be great to read. Looking forward to it.

Ultraviolet was fun!! Also a movie that I saw years ago, and as you say : silly, but still very enjoyable. And Mila was awesome in this one 😀😀
Glad you like the theme: though you will probably like the theme for March even more 😉😉

True enough: the remake was seriously stupid, despite the great cast 😢

I know, the cast, including Owen Wilson and Catherine Zeta-Jones, could do nothing to save the lacklustre remake. I don’t know why there even was a remake because The Haunting is such a psychological classic.

Right, time to give you some suggestions:
28 Days Later (one of my fav zombie films)
Insidious: Chapter 3 (because its one of the few horror films, that actual scares the plops out of me. Shamefully, I watched it in the cinema and end up like scooby-doo. Clinging to my friend for dear life) 😀

Darn, I don’t know many sci-fi or horror movies… And those I know I think you’ve already reviewed… Hmm… How about The Arrival? (Strangest movie I’ve ever seen) And as for horror, Get Out? I’m a huge Key and Peele fan and when I found out he was directing a horror movie I was shook. Literally.
Anyway, sorry if you’ve already done any of these!
On another note, I recently found out Science Fiction Day was on the 2nd of January. I was sooo bummed because I would love to have used it to review something sci-fiey. But oh well, it’s gone now xD

Letting your readers / chance decide the movies is inspired, and BOLD! Event Horizon first came to my mind, since it combines both genres, but I know you already wrote about that. (Btw I still haven’t watched! Arggh). I like “Pitch Black,” as someone else suggested, for the same reason.
Hmm.. my contributions shall be: 1) Mr. Nobody (2009) or 2) Predestination (2014). Both films honor the notions of chance, free will / determinism, which this post got me thinking about.
