Hello everyone. This is going to be a short post to announce the first theme of this year. As I mentioned in my plans for the upcoming year, each month will have a certain theme that will get a little bit more coverage than all the other things. That’s not to say, I won’t be writing reviews for movies, anime etc, but the theme of the month will just get a few more posts than the others. And as you can see in the big bold letters above this text, January’s theme is going to be Korean Dramas.
What exactly is a Korean drama?

As not everyone might be familiar with these let me explain just a little bit about them. Korean drama shows are pretty much the same as a regular tv series, except for the fact that they usually run for a single season (with a few exceptions). That means they are selfcontained stories that unfold in one season and then end. The great thing about that is the fact that you don’t run a risk that a show might get cancelled in the middle of a cliffhanger. Korean dramas have quite a large number of topics, such as crime, romance, period pieces, and these days they even have a few series that have sci-fi elements in them. If this has gotten your interest you might want to check out the website Viki that will let you watch these legally for free (with of course a few commercials thrown into the mix). Another great source for news and recommendations is the truly awesome blog Kdramakisses run by the amazingly kind Kay.
What will I be reviewing?

No, that’s exactly right, I am not going to tell you yet which shows I will be watching. Yes I know, I am evil like that. But I have to keep up a little bit of suspense right? I plan on watching three shows however, so keep your eyes out for the reviews that will start to make an appearance later on in this month. Thank you for reading, and see you all at the next post!
Oooh~
K-drama!

Thank you very much: happy new year to you as well.
There is a lot of variety on offer when it comes to K-dramas and a awful lot to choose from. Hopefully my reviews will help a bit. Thank you for reading and your comment😊

Haha 😂😂 Yeah I was looking for a picture that would fit for that one and this one certainly looked like it would do the trick 😀
And I haven’t been posting a lot about Korean dramas last year, so it was definitely time to do so again 😀

I have to admit I haven’t tried a lot of K-Drama and it might be nice to get some recommendations. Looking forward to seeing your reviews.

Well I saw a few of them last year, but way too few of them. As I’m starting this year with working with themes I fugured I would do Korean dramas first 😉 Hope it will be recommendations though. The one I’m currently watching is not the best I’ve seen yet lol 😂😂

Well this sounds interesting, have never seen any!

Well some of them are seriously good, so hopefully there will be a few good ones that I’m going to be watching this month as well 😀😀 (And if not, well I can at least give people a warning which ones they are to avoid lol 😂😂).

My Chinese students often preferred Korean dramas to their own. Beijing complains about how Chinese producers don’t create dramas as good as Koreans do, but then won’t lift the censorship laws that would enable high quality drama.

I’ve seen two Chinese dramas but admittedly when compared to Korean dramas they certainly aren’t as good. Or…I just haven’t seen the right one yet 😉 But yeah sometimes it’s weird how cencorship laws can truly influence things like this. Thanks for your comment 😀

Thanks for linking viki. I was mildly interested in checking these out, but not so much so to go looking for a place to watch them, that was free, that may or may not have existed. Now I’ll likely check a series out when i have the time. Of course, my choice will be heavily influenced by your reviews, I just know it!

Viki is honestly a very good place to watch these. It depends a bit on where you live as content does differ in each region. But there is a fair selection on offer no matter where you live 😀 Haha: and I will do my best to deliver some good reviews (feeling the pressure here lol 😂😂).

Haha, thank you so much. Honestly with the all the plans I revealed for my blog on yesterday’s post I also feel a bit nervous 😅😅 I hope I can live up to it all, but I’m going to try to give it my best. I’m really excited about doing all these new things to be honest, but it’s the time I am a bit concerned about 😅 Glad you are excited for the reviews though 😀😀

I used to go to DVDBongs’s and watch Korean movies haha. It has been awhile and I actually don’t think I ever watch a Kdrama before. I’ll look forward to suggestions!

I have an enormous library of Asian movies, ranging from Thailand, China and Japan, but the Korean films are always the most fun to watch 😊
It’s the same with their television series 😊😊 I hope I can give some good suggestions in the coming month. Thank you for your comment 😊

Kdramas!!!! The perfect theme for the month to start off the year right 🙂 I’m interested to hear your take on Missing 9 as well as Secret Forest. You’ll probably watch Black before me too. It’s on my list, but there are quite a few dramas ahead of it. And I always really appreciate the kind words and the thoughtful shout out 🙂

Haha: yeah as I mentioned over in the last comment, I did this one for you 😊
But I’m also really looking forward to seeing a few of these this month, as I really have watched way too few of them last year. Hopefully the ones I watch are going to be good 😀😀

Ooh, what a great idea! I don’t know what you’ll be reviewing, but if your header is anything to go by then I’ll be looking forward to your thoughts on The Village: Achiara’s Secret. :p
Can’t wait to see what you’ll watch.

Haha, the header is a bit misleading. I might review that one, but it’s not going to be in january. But thanks for the kind words. I hope the shows that I intend to watch will be interesting. Looking forward to both seeing and writing about them 😊

The k-drama format sounds cool. A story contained within a season prevents a good series getting ruined by filler or those pesky cliffhangers that never get resolved.

True enough: these shows usually have about 16-20 episodes and then they simply end their run with the story resolved. Which is a good thing as so many regular shows get cancelled without them seeing a good resolution 😢

Cool 😊 There are definitely some absolutely amazing Korean movies out there. I am a huge Asian cinema buff, and Korea just always seems to make the best ones. That’s why I also love their dramas 😊

Oh, the suspense! 😀 I know back in high school I did venture a little bit in the kdrama world as I found them quite original. And then dropped into the pool of American TV shows and never came out of it hahah Looking forward to new discoveries and maybe shows that I’ll be interested in trying out! 😀

I discovered Korean dramas during a summer break. I had already had a lot of interest in Asian movies, but never knew there was such an enormous amount of high quality tv shows as well. I have had quite a number of times where I also lost track a bit with these series, but I do plan on watching these a lot more this year 😊 Hopefully I will discover some cool serie to share this year 😊 Thanks as always for reading and your great comment 😊

That’s so cool that they’re self contained- I didn’t know that- though I know a lot of people are really into Korean dramas and they do sound interesting- great idea for a series!! 😀

That really is one of the best things about these shows. I have it happen way too often that one of my favorite tv series got cancelled without a good resolution. Luckily here that never happens, which is good 😊😊 And there is a Korean drama series for pretty much everybody out there which is good 😀

Yeah that really is the best- I totally get what you mean about shows getting cancelled- which is really frustrating cos they often have a setup for more and then you just never know what would have happened, so I think it’s great that these are more self contained!! Awesome 😊
