Hello everyone, welcome to the second part of my report from Animecon 2017, which I attended this weekend. You can find the first part right Here. Without further ado let’s gets on with the second part.
The food
Ofcourse it would not be a good thing to go without food for three days, and luckily the con as well as the hotel had plenty of great things on offer. I especially enjoyed the tasty udon flavoured cup noodles. They were absolutely delicious, and I helped myself to these twice. There was a lot of variety to choose from, ranging from homemade ramen to hamburgers and vegan food. There was something tasty for everyone.
Too much stuff to buy
I knew going into this con that this would definitely not be good for my wallet. And it really wasn’t, lol. I bought way too much stuff, but it was all definitely worth it. Besides the entire manga series of Battle Angel Alita, I got a lot of Animeseries on dvd, some new, some old, but all of them pretty cool. Yes I know, as if I did not have too much stuff to watch already. I also got a great modelkit for a Mobile Suit Gundam Wing classic guntank, which will be great to put together. All in all I have really gotten soms terrific new stuff, and I could not be happier with it.
What I saw: movies
Besides anime there were also a lot of Asian movies to watch. Just as with the anime on offer I had to make a choice as to what to watch, and these three films were the ones I eventually ended up seeing.
Train to Busan
This was the movie that I was looking forward to the most, and it did not disappoint. I had to stay up till three o’clock at night in order to see it, but wow was it worth it. This Korean zombie movie was a blockbuster back in it’s homeland, and it also became a huge succes worldwide. Suffice it say that for me it has been the best Korean movie that I have seen, and you can expect a review for this movie on my blog very soon.
Good Stripes!
The description for this movie said this was supposed to be a heartwarming movie, that would leave no heart untouched. Well, I don’t know if whoever gave that description saw the same film that I did, but it was one of the most depressing movies that I have seen in quite a while. It tells the story of a couple that were about to break up, but end up staying together because the woman got pregnant. This film was really boring, and a great disappointment. Definitely wished I had avoided this one.
Ken and Kazu!
The last movie I saw was Ken and Kazu! , which I highly enjoyed. This was a seriously brutal crime movie, but one that had a great storyline and some terrific acting. Ken and Kazu are lifelong friends, that make their living by drug smuggling for their boss. One day Kazu decides to start making money for himself, without their boss knowing this. This is the beginning of a violent spiral, that can only end in bloodshed. The two leadactors did a great job, and this film definitely stood out in the oversaturated Yakuza movie genre.
Final notes
To say that I had a great time this weekend is pretty much an understatement. I ended up seeing a lot of great films and anime, highly enjoyed all the things on offer, and the atmosphere was just terrific. My only regret was not attending any of the workshops that were organised. I decided to go for the movies and anime this year, but next year I’m probably going to turn this around and go to some of the workshops as well. My hats off to all the organisers of this con for making this such an entertaining weekend. I will leave you with a couple of pictures I took to give you an impression of this great weekend. As always thank you for reading and see you at the next post !

It was seriously awesome 😊 Best con that I have been too in quite a while 😀 I will try and get my review for Train to Busan out either today or tomorrow. When you see the movie, I hope you are going to enjoy it 😊

Wow, this con seemed amazing! I’m loving your haul! I see you stumbled on Your Lie in April. I hope it didn’t hurt your wallet as much as it did ours! Also, I noticed Erased, is that the manga or the series on DVD? I’ve been looking to buy the series but the prices are pretty high on the sites I normally go to.
I heard alot of great things about Train to Busan! You should absolutely consider some expanded movie reviews for your blog based on what you saw.
I’m glad you had such an amazing experience!

Thank you very much 😊It was a seriously fantastic con, honestly the best one that I have visited so far. Can’t wait for next year 😊 Yes, I could not resist the lure of Your Lie in April. I just had to have it. Erm it was for the two parts together about 60 euros, which I think is about 70 dollars. Not real cheap, but not too pricy for a series such as this either 😊
Erased is the Manga which just came out in February. I did look for the anime but unfortunately I could not find it. This was great as well though 😊 Anime is just very pricy these days, though at this con there was a stand from England that had a lot of series for very reasonable prices 😊
As for Train to Busan, I just posted the review for it. It really was a great movie and one that I highly recommend. As for the reviews, I might do one or two other expanded reviews (Maybe for The Piano Forest and Ken and Kazu!), but don’t know for sure yet. Have a few Anime reviews coming up as well. But I will try to do some expanded reviews if I have the time 😊

Wowowow you found Ergo Proxy! I’m excited to know what you think.
Also was Your lie in April a blu-ray or dvd? Hard to tell from the box. Either way, I’m glad you found it. Certainly can’t pass up the best anime series you’ve ever seen 🙂
Man I wish I could have attended this with you. Sounds like it was a blast.

Yes..the first thing on my mind when I found Ergo Proxy was, yes I can finally look in on Weekend Otaku’s post after finishing the series (it will take me a bit to get there, but hopefully in July I will have it finished. Can’t wait to start on it.
All the things you see in the picture are dvd’s. I was so glad to find Your Lie In April…could not be happier with it. I’m going to see it again pretty soon together with my mum who also loves anime ( yes, that is very rare I know 😂).
I wish you would have been there. You would most definitely have enjoyed it. I honestly can’t wait for next year. This was the best con ever 😀😀

Fantastic haul, I’m jealous! 🙂 I haven’t heard of Ken and Kazu, but the plot seems right up my alley. Crime dramas are always interesting to watch, especially when they involve triads and the Yakuza! Also, I’m excited to read your take on Train to Busan. I really loved it as well. 😀

Haha, sorry for making you jealous 😊 But yes, it really was a great haul. Ken and Kazu was a great movie, and one that I did not expect much from. It’s always nice to see a movie turn out into something very good if you don’t expect it 😊 I might do an expanded review for it, if I have some time. As for Train To Busan, my review just went up five minutes ago 😀

I’m very glad you got to visit and see such amazing anime and movies. A good ramen is certainly quite satisfying. I love the collection your well dexerved wallet was spent on such as Pyscho Pass and Ghost in the Shell. I must get on board with Ergo Proxy soon. It does intrigue me. The wonderful view from your hotel must have been a treat. It looks glorious. Thank you for sharing your trip away. It was such a refreshing read. 🙂

Thank you very much for the kind words as always 😀 It really was a great weekend. Honestly I can’t wait for next year. I got Ergo Proxy mainly because of a post I saw on Weekend Otaku’s blog, and if there is one guy I trust on knowing anime it is him. I haven’t seen it yet, but as soon as I have expect a review for it 😊 The hotel was amazing. I almost felt like a prince in how luxurious it was lol 😂

It’s an anime I shall give a trial watch very soon after I have watched season 2 of Attack on Titan. Hopefully we both enjoy it and I look forward to it. Heh well judging by the person you are, I would say you deserved to feel like one.

Ah..Attack on Titan season 2. Nice 😀 Hopefully you are enjoying it so far, there have been so mixed responses for it 😊 I have just started with the first episode of a new horror anime called Corpse Princess and in the middle of two other animes…pff…I have so much anime currently going on, that I almost don’t know what to do with it all lol 😂😂

Oh the choices you have ! I may check out Corpse Princess soon. I have yet to start the first episode of season 2 for Attack on Titan, but I have enjoyed it so far and one of my favourites alongside Deathnote and Samurai Champloo.
I normally watch animated movies than i do series. I find it hard to get into a series like I have with Titan. It has a lovely plot..so far I feel. Though I will also look into One Punch Manmas I’ve been intrigued by it. I suppose I’m too particular with my viewing but I give them a chance. 🙂

There is really so much too choose from, that it is honestly getting harder and harder to make a choice. Since I started blogging , my interest in anime has been totally renewed, and I keep finding new series to enjoy. Which is absolutely awesome. I hope you will have fun on the second season of Attavk on Titan. I have so far seen three episodes of Corpse Princess, and I have to say that I like it. It’s hot this kind of b-type horrormovie feel to it, but with a pretty interesting storyline. It will be cool to see where this is headed 😊

Even though it was exhausting…Train to Busan ended at 3 o’clock at night, so I slept at around 4 o’clock that night, it was totally worth it. So much to do, great atmosphere it was an absolute blast (even though my wallet probably doesn’t agree lol 😂).

Haha, sorry about that, but looking back at it, you are quite right. I think I’m going to grab dinner right now lol.
Your welcome, it was an absolute blast, and simply can’t wait for the fun to start again in 2018 😊

Far too much anime bought there! How are you going to afford all the things I tempt you with if you do that! Looks like it was a lot of fun. Not sure it would be for me, as I tend to find anime hit or miss – with miss being more frequent (though when it is good, it is really good). Still, looks like a lot of fun.

Haha…lol 😂😂 No worries, I will (probably) still be able to afford those things you tempt me with, so please keep on doing that haha 😂
But yes it was definitely a lot of fun, I had an absolute blast this weekend. The fun thing is, it was not only anime on offer but also a lot of Asian cinema, workshops and….boardgames 😀 So yes, I think you would have enjoyed it quite a lot 😊 I will definitely be going again next year 😊

Money well spent in my opinion. Glad you had fun!

No freebies at this con? I have seen other bloggers go to book cons and they leave with lots of freebies but here you are, leaving with an empty wallet 🙂 I’m glad you had a great time. That’s cool that there’s one every year because I guess it’s too much to experience it all in one weekend 🙂

Haha, no there weren’t any freebies this time around. Real shame, but honestly it was so much fun that I did not mind it at all, despite the empty wallet lol 😂😂

I hope your wallet has since recovered from the convention shopping. Looks like you picked some good cyberpunk stuff in the form of Arise and Psycho-Pass.

Haha, you it is fully stocked again for next year 😂😂 (I already have tickets for next year 😂😂). But true, I have yet to watch Arise and the second season of Psycho-pass, but I always like the cyberpunk genre. It’s just very cool (if it’s fine right that is 😊).
